It is very good, but it is also depressing. Nice to think about Ash moving on with her life in the "official" ending, though. I just hate the fact that it's the second time she's had to do it.

I wouldn't say that, IIRC rewards are same. At least at the end of my Insanity playthrough I got approximately same amound of money as on Narrative. And I generally bought same things, give or take some upgrades.

And sad feelings (since I'm not sure whom to quote)... Despite that fact that I dislike game in general and ending was especially horrible, I don't have sad feeling regarding Shepard's demise. Well, at least Krzysztof Shepard.

I nearly feel worse for Ashley though than Shepard cause she had lost him once before and now has to suffer that again, assuming EC doesn't share some light on the issue

I don't even bother with the official ending. It's not how I want my Shepard's story to end, so it's not how things went down.

Like I said, for one of my "kanone" Shepards (there are two) his death at ME3 ending is actually sort of "Star Wars Episode 6" (or Witcher) ending, where he reunites with beloved one in afterlife.
Well, if they don't want to give us proper ending, I have to create one for myself.

Same here. Since Shepard is my avatar in the game, I can take his death / fate more easily. It's not the reward I have hoped for, but ... things could be worse.
On the other hand, if Shepard survives and is separated from the rest of his crew, his "family", it's not even a bit of a reward - death is merciful in that case.

Ashley's fate is worse. I simply can't take it -.-

I agree with Dannycni - I wouldn't mind endings where Shep died, but I really wanted a chance for a totally happy ending, even if it meant having to put a lot of effort and work into it. What we got just didn't feel like Mass Effect to me. Not really.

I head canon stuff all the time, though. Never anything as important as an ending, but if they're not going to give me an option for the ending I want, it's not that much of a stretch to head canon that as well.

I have one opinion on Shepard's survival, but I have to wait AMW's opinion on that first.  And translate remaining part of my "nightmares" sketches, if there will be approval.
I doubt it will be, I'm horrible writer.

I think we deserve a happy ending with our LI (in this case Ashley), especially if we played all three games with full paragon.

Ashley: I doubted you once, Shepard, and I lost you. That's not happening again.

Yeah, I know. It will never be "real." That's the problem.

I'm mostly hanging on to the image of Shepard and Ash together on Intai'sei as a way to, over time, move away from the franchise with a better picture in my head. I might stick around on the BSN forums long enough to see the Ash fan reaction to the EC endings. But I doubt I will download them, because I doubt they will give me what I really want.

Was I wrong to feel (back in ME1) that Ashley, not Liara was suppose to be the cannon romance partner? I genuinely thought, until 3, that Ashley was the default option that majority of people were suppose to take, and Liara is more of a 3rd option, something they put in the game so people don't felt like they have no choices.

I base my assumption on the fact that the game begins with you, Kaidan and Ashley, analogues to you Carth + Bastilla. So the whole game I had KOTOR as my reference where I equate Ashley=Bastilla, Kaidan=Carth, Liara=Mission, Garrus=Ordo, Wrex = HK47, not sure where Tali fit actually, she is kinda of a Mission type character, but not quite as blue. Plus you get Ashley way before you get Liara, they set you up with her starting with the Eden Prim Beacon where you save her.

Tell me I was not the only one thought that way.

I think Ash's romance was handled better in ME1, which is perhaps why someone might feel that way. With Ash, there are all these subtle hints and build up, right from the beginning. With Liara, there's less build up, and everything feels so sudden - perhaps an unintential side effect of not having her on the squad from the start, or even picking her up on the Citadel.

The Liara romance feels particuarly rushed if you wait until as late as possible to do Therum.

Okay so I got a test texture in and....well...it makes Ash incredibly shiny. I have no idea why, but I'm pretty sure if she stood too close to a light she could blind someone. I have no idea why it's doing it lol! Must be a mapping issue somewhere..

Implications unpleasant. Must conduct more tests.
