Well judging from everything I have read or heard so far, I have formed a hypothesis that squad members will not be collected, they will not reside on the ship for an extended period of time, and you might not get to chose them at will for any mission.
I think they are doing this to try and accommodate fans and their favorite characters, and in an attempt to account for past members that could have been killed during the course of the series. They might even be labeled as "available" spots in a squad for any given mission. The only "permanent" member might be a "LI". Meaning, Shepard's LI might have a spot on the Normandy at all times.

At the same time, everything they're saying how 'no one's permanent' right now seems to contradict 'we're focusing on the smaller team to enhance the interaction'. I mean, these two are mutually exclusive. If characters join the party  only for a short/not-so-long period of time, how exactly can one focus on them? And if alot of them does that, how exactly is that having less squadmates than ME2?

OMG! I would die! lol They should totally do that!! They probably won't though because it'll be seen as "pandering to the male gamers" and not the fans of the incredible femshep/Liara relationship.

Oy, any Liara talk not involving being along side Ashley in combat needs to be taken elsewhere. same with femshep if she's not being mentioned as a friend or lover of Ashley. Thank you.

I found the whole "Its a war story, so people will be coming and going" statement odd. I mean you are at war, where the hell are they going? Unless its like a grand scale version of the SM and your sending the squad off to do jobs, that take X number of missions and their just unavailable for that time, its weird. In war stories, the platoon, generally sticks together throughout, until the war(story) is over. I can see a few people leaving for personal things like if you say had Wrex and something happened on Tuchanka, but most of these people are just mercenaries and those affliated with groups aren't so high on totem pole that their desparately needed. The closest to that is Miranda, if the VS is in fact a Spectre, they can do whatever they want.

More or less this, though I do think some squadmate will be needed else where. Grunt will be on Tuchanka with Wrex, Mordin is on the salarian homeworld in the demo for the Krogan female. Samara may be on Thessia to lead the asari and the justicars. Legion contacts the geth and of course Tali has the migrant fleetin orbit win one of the demo's and the nuke a reaper from orbit. the VS is on the Normandy to assist shepard so that takes care of them. I'm blanking on some squaddies but it's late so sue me.

Well the problem with that is, Mordin isn't the only Salarian scientist in the world, hell Kirrahe could take his place on the mission if all he is doing is following a tank. Justicar's don't need to be led, Legion can contact the Geth from anywhere and Tali doesn't even necessarily have to be a member of the Flotilla, but if she is, she fits into that unimportant role. They have four admirals, one of a military mind, I think he could handle the space nuking lol. There's not much that I can think of that would require any of them.

personal dramas I.E leaveing to go rescue a family member,friend or lover off a besiged planet,being recalled by their respective leaders to take part in a important mission that can give them an edge on the reapers or to take part in a key offensive/defensive against the reapers. lots of possabilitys.

ash could easily fall into any of these catagories.

Both did a hair up to hair down switch after falling in love. Is Ashley not telling Sheppard something? Is there a little Sheppard running around somewhere?

And here's my fave screencap. The light reflections just do so much for Ashley don't ya think?

Huh...the infamous Ashley thread. I finally found it I see. I do not trust Ashely's new look...and will avoid emotional build up of any kind until I know if shes still our Ashley. I'm sick and tierd of female characters looking like barbie. Only Ashley and Aveline have ever stirred my soul...and Aveline was very painfully ripped away from me, in addition to their blatent treatment of Miranda I am weary of Ashley's Mirandafication.

here we go again.

Nothing say female characters can't be badass and look sexy at the same time, the same with male characters. everyone obviously has two or more outfits as shepard is seen in combat in a T-shirt and jeans (earth demo) and in full armor (salarian homeworld) While Miranda is incredibly beautiful and bioware shows that off, she's still the most powerful ME2 squadmate and essential to the storyline. Jacob gets the same treatment as Miranda as he has selective butt shots and a skin tight suits with armor plates thrown on it, but no ones compaining about that or Mshep being in casual clothing when people are shooting at him. She's not Mirandafied and that is an insult to both characters so please abstain from saying that. She has an armor outfit that's being designed or just isn't being shown, we're still 7 months away from the games release so be patient.
