But yea i think you nailed it on the head with running out of time and I think it is painfully obvious, sadly cause it could have been so much better.

I know, right?

They could have delayed it for six months and I would have no problem at all with it.  Imagine what 6 months of additional development could have solved?  Ugh.

Yea I can't help but feel it should have been delayed but I suppose they didn't cause it had already suffered several delays and I think BW wanted to get it out there. But you are right  more months or even if I had to wait till the summer to get it would have been worth it and I would have appreciated it so much more cause we would of had the character interaction we all want and miss from the first 2 games.

This is what happens when you answer to EA. Look at where the CoD series has gone because of Activision.

@Danny: Were there really several delays? I thought the release date was pushed back once. And that was an absurdly early release date, if you look at the amount of time that ME1 and 2 took to develop.

EDIT: This page lacks Ash. That must be fixed.

@DWH1982, maybe I've got it wrong but I thought at first it was supposed to be out around November, then it was pushed back to around Christmas then finally March. Maybe I'm making it up lol but I thought BW kept saying they were trying to make sure nothing was left out (how ironic)

Those could also have been rumours about delays that maybe over time I thought were true

I'm pretty sure it went from a Nov release date to a March release date.

I could be mistaken, but I was doing most of the Cerberus Daily News fan site updates at the time, so I remember thinking, "Well, now I have to come up with updates to last until March instead of Nov."

When independent developers get bought by the larger publishes, their profits flourish but the quality of their games decreases. Any of you ever hear about a developer called Free Radical? Their story is the perfect example of publishers screwing over developers. FR dared to stand up to the publishers and they paid with administration and most with their jobs. The shell of the company is now part of Crytek UK.

That Tali-VS dialogue does exist. It's actually worth listening to. Getting Tali in time for that mission though seems very fine cut with regards to the bomb going off.

@DWH1982  Yea I've been googling and it sounds like you are right, but still thats a 4 month delay that they should have been sorting things out. What state was the game in in November?!?!?!

To keep it about Ash

What's said between the two? I won't be doing another ME3 run for a while.

I read somewhere that the ending wasn't finalised until very late in development. They didn't call in Mr.Sheen () until near christmas because of this. Compare the script leak to what we have now and you'll see what I mean. In a situation such as this, EA holds all the cards. There isn't much Bioware could've done really. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall when this was going on. I can't imagine it being smooth.

This is why I very rarely buy anything mainstream (don't you even think about it, TNS) with a EA/Activision/Ubisoft/etc logo on it. Although I still see Steam as the devil incarnate, it does help out innovative independent developers who produce content to suite themselves - not a deadline set by the fat cats at a huge publishing business.

@YCF, I'll transcribe it for you tomorrow. Maybe in the future I'll see about recording it in game.

My canon Shepard has Liara and Miranda as close friends, but of course as is Jelous of my them. BTW do you guys ever wonder what the publicity of saving the galaxy twice produces? Shepard has billions of fanboys and fangirls. Ashley is very lucky to be married to "Man of the Year" and the "Sexiest Man Alive"

As fun as everyone says multiplayer is - perhaps they should have been using the extra people and resources on the single player campaign, if things were in such an unsettled state, and they were unwilling to delay things any longer.

The really sad thing is, with all its flaws, ME3 is actually still a very good game. Imagine what it would be like if they had gone those extra few miles to give us what I expected for a Mass Effect game.

Anyway... back to Ash...

Image IPB

Does anyone ever give any thought to what Ash's love life was like before she met Shepard?

I do think she had serious relationships in the past, but I don't think she had very many of them. Military life would have interfered with that as well, after she enlisted.

I think Ash would go out of her way to make sure it didn't go to his head.

Ash (looks at magazine cover and snickers): "Sexiest man alive," huh? You know what would be really sexy? If you picked up your dirty socks once and awhile. (playfully throws a few socks at Shepard).

I think if she did have a serious relationship that it ended once she graduated High School. As you said, military life doesn't leave much time for a serious relationship.

Can you romance Ash if you didn't romance her in ME1?

See... If you didn't carry over a romance, I don't think you should be able to. It would be fine punishment for people who are only interested in her now because "OMG look at her hair," or "OMG, BEWBS!"

Ah well. Edwin Shepard can rest easy, knowing that he has always been faithful to Ash.

it's based on resources and role playing. Some sheaprd's don't break the regs and aren't intersted in Liara so they're single on the SR-1 (I'm playing one that's sort of awkward to she accidentally turned down Kaidan even though she's madly in love with him, so she'll get to be with him in ME3) plus there's new players who'll fall in love with Ashley when they meet her and that would be a bit much to make someone buy two other games just to do one thing on ME3.

EDIT: Also it's pretty shallow to only think Everyone wants to romnce Ash. The majority of the sentiment is that people DON'T like Ashley with her hair down, hell half of this trhead used to be people complaining about her hair being down. If you like a character, you like them. any positive reason to like a charater is a valid one.

Yeah, that's understandable. I was just bitter about people who are only interested in Ash now because they think she suddenly "became attractive."

Here
My previous dialouge continued.

Shepard enter the Spectre Offices and approaches the Terminals and Calls Miranda on the Holo-Display

Shepard: Okay Miranda I've accessed those files you wanted.
Miranda: Thank you Shepard, I'll send the download address to your omni-tool.
Shepard ... Okay it's sent. ....
*Enter Ashley, quietly*
Shepard: Good luck Miranda.... And be careful
Miranda: Always Shepard ... Looks like you have a guest *cuts communication*
Shepard: *turns around* Ashley what are you doing here?
Ashley: I'm a Spectre now, just going to do some target practice at the range. This the errand you were going to run?
Shepard: Yes it is.
Ashley: ....  .... Well? What did you need to do?
Shepard: An favor for a friend
Ashley: Wow, illuminating ... Who's your friend?
Shepard: an old acquaintance
Ashley: ... Care to elaborate Skipper? *annoyed*
Shepard: Miranda Lawson
Ashley: The Cerberus agent?!?!
Shepard: Former, former Cerberus agent. She and the rest of my crew left after we defeated the Collecters.
Ashley: Still Shepard ... Why would you need to contact a former Cerberus agent on a secure Spectre line?
Shepard: I was helping her with a problem.
Ashley: Here we go again, avoiding the question. *takes an angry stance*
Shepard: Ash ... I promised to keep it a secret.
Ashley: Am I not trustworthy enough? I thought we had no secrets.
Shepard: You know I always keep my word, Ash. I can't
Ashley: Shepard, you promised that we would have no secrets well before you promised her anything.
Shepard: *sighs* Look Ash don't make a big deal of this --
Ashley: A big deal ?!?! What am I supposed to do here? You contact a former terrorist in private and then refuse to tell me what it is you talked about?
Shepard:  ... Ashley
Ashley: Tell me Shepard... Now
Shepard: ... Fine... Look It's not anything important Ash, I was just sending her some Intel the Alliance gathered years ago.
Ashley: You trusted her with top secret Alliance resourses? Shepard ... why would you give her something like that?
Shepard: She won't harm anyone with it ... I trust her Ash.
Ashley: Apparently more than me
Shepard: What? Ashley why would you even suggest that?
Ashley: Because you gave HER military intelligence and you wouldn't even tell me who you were talking to!
Shepard: And this is why! Ever since I've been back you have suspected I'm still with Cerberus. I can't do anything to convince you otherwise.
Ashley: Yes you can Shepard, by not lying to me!
Shepard: When did I lie to you? I just didn't tell you the whole story because I knew you would overreact?
Ashley: Shepard I am not overreacting. I'm concerned... What if she uses the Intel against us? How can you trust her?
Shepard: Miranda and I have been through alot, I TRUST her Ashley, end of story.
Ashley: Hmmm ... Been through alot you say ... Something I should know about?
Shepard: ... Ash don't you even suggest that I ever would even consider ---
Ashley: And why not? She is obvioussly attractive, has the whole package and, I guess, your unwavering trust.
Shepard: Ashley, I would never cheat on you . You know I love you.
Ashley: Do I Shepard? because last time I checked, people in love don't keep secrets about "not important" things.
Shepard: Don't be angry at me Ash, I'm just trying to help out a friend who's in trouble!
Ashley: This isn't about you helping a friend Shepard, you obvioussly haven't been listening to a word I've said. *Storms off*
Shepard: *heavy sigh* Wonderful, and we share a room.

Too bad I don't have time to read through everything on here during the week, I'm afraid I might miss some of Instance's dialouge.

I can keep up with CptData's excellent journal entries by checking the Ash Dialouge group from time to time, but I might have to skim through the Ash thread in the evening, just to make sure I don't miss any of Instance's current story.

Something different for you guys ...

Virtual interview - with Khalisah al-Jilani and me.

Jilani: Khalisah al-Jilani, Westerlund News. Sir, may I answer you some questions? Sir?
CptData: Hi. Yes, of course.
Jilani: Very well. My audience wants to know who I am interviewing today.
CptData: Call me Michael.
Jilani: Nice to meet you, Michael.
CptData: Nice to meet you too, Khalisah.
Jilani: Rumors tell you're a big fan of Spectre and Alliance officer Ashley Madeline Williams.
CptData: That's correct.
Jilani: May I ask you why?
CptData: Well, Ashley is a great soldier, an outstanding friend and a beautiful woman. I admire her - and I'm glad that I know her that well.
Jilani: Well, some people say she's a racist and a religious bigot.
CptData: She's not. Ashley simply doesn't trust people that easily - everyone has to gain her trust and respect first. One of the lessons I had to learn earlier and I must say, she's right.
Jilani: So her comments about Garrus, Wrex and Liara are not based on a racist point of view?
CptData: Ashley respects Garrus. It took a while, especially since Garrus is a Turian. You need to know her family history to understand why she's not welcoming him at the beginning. However, she learned to trust him. They're very close friends today. And Wrex ... well, people complain a lot. Could you trust a 1500 year old Krogan mercenary that's pointing a gun at your CO? I doubt so. Shepard was able to talk him down but without ... well, guess Ashley was more than ready to save him by taking down Wrex. Also that incident on Virmire didn't really harm their friendship in the end.
Jilani: I see. Now, what's about Liara?
CptData: One thing is funny: out of the four aliens on board of the original Normandy, you only ask for three. Why not Tali? Maybe because Tali is more like a little sister for Ashley? It's a well known fact they hooked up right from the beginning. Liara on the other hand - there we have the trust issues again. Can you trust a relative of one of your enemies that easily? Especially if that one tries to attract your CO? I couldn't! Liara never managed to get Ashley's full trust, not on the first Normandy, nor in the Reaper campaign. Maybe because Liara tried a bit too often to impress Shepard? I don't know. In best case, Ashley sees Liara as a competitor.
Jilani: Ah, yes. The "relationship". You know, Shepard could had have an easier relationship with Liara than Ashley, especially since it violates the fraternization regulations.
CptData: "Love finds its way". And in this case it was Shepard's Spectre status that made it possible. And since Ashley is a Spectre too now, I can't see any obstacles for their love anymore.
Jilani: Still my fans want to know why Shepard didn't go after Liara.
CptData: Maybe because she wasn't his type? Besides that, I believe in multiple universums. In another universe Shepard could have decided for Liara instead of Ashley. Who knows? I can not prove it. In our universe he loves Ashley. They're a perfect couple to me.
Jilani: Thank you for your time, Sir. This was Khalisah al-Jilani, Westerlund News interviewing Michael, a devoted Ashley Williams fan.
