Liara would always be my choice if it wasn't for Ash. So now that Ashley isn't an option it's time for little blueberry.

Edit: I know that the VS of the opposite gender is assigned to carry you, but that doesn't disway my dissapointment.

Sometimes I wonder how ME2 and 3 would have been different if the lead writer from ME1 had stayed with Bioware.

He said it wouldn't ahve been much of a difference. Though I do wonder what would have happened to Ash's if her original writer stayed. Bet he would have moved her around the ship.

Ashley would have been a smartass in ME3 like ME1. That's one of the things I like about her, always making jokes to avoid serious situations. Last Resort to avoid saying what she actually feels = poetry

It's possible, but I also take such things with a grain of salt. Publically criticizing your peers - especially people you used to work with/for - is a bad way to get ahead in any industry.

Even if it stayed mostly the same, I can't help but wonder if we would have seen the dark matter plot abandoned entirely (thus rendering all that forshadowing from ME2 nearly pointless), or if we would have had the crappy endings.

EDIT: I guess I should say here, as well, that I don't mean to dump on Bioware. They did a heck of a lot right with ME2 and ME3. They're both really fun games. I just think that ME3 has a lot of flaws as a Mass Effect game that shouldn't be there. It's to Bioware's credit that it's actually still a very fun and engaging game, despite the flaws.

I'm feeling kinda grumpy this evening, but I didn't want to sit here and be totally negative...

Ashley, Joker, Garrus, Vega and Liara are at Purgatory

Joker: ... and then he just punched her in the face. Trust me, Shepard does not like reporters. *chorus of laughter*
Ashley: I remember that, Alliance Press Corp had a really bad day after that *smirks*
Vega: It doesn't seem like Shepard would pull something like that now?
Garrus: He wouldn't I don't think, he's under a lot of stress now, wouldn’t want the added drama from a press scandal.
Joker: Wouldn't want the added drama?!? Do you remember anything that happened back then?
Ashley: What are you talking about Joker?
Joker: I think you know what I'm talking about Ash *subtle nod to Liara*
Ashley: *sigh* Joker ... do we really need to bring that up.
Vega: I sense a story. What happened?
Liara: Nothing happened --- *interrupted*
Joker: Just a couple school girl crushes. Lots of drama, very funny.
Garrus: Joker your drunk, stop talking.
Vega: No! No! you can't just stop after that. Little love triangle, who was the target?
Joker: Wait What?.... How do you not know the Commander and Ash are sleeping together?
Ashley: oh ... my god *face palm*
Vega: Seriously?
Garrus: Yes! What's wrong with you Vega?
Joker: OK Garrus your one to talk, you wouldn't have known if I hadn't told you.
Garrus: True but I'm not human I wouldn't know the signs.
Joker: Hmmm, point taken .... What IS wrong with you Vega.
Liara: Enough! We do not need to go dragging this up to the surface after two years.
Joker: Two years? Your both still cold to each other. You two would barely even speak to each other if I wouldn't drag you to places like this.
Ashley: That's not true, me and Liara are friends.
Garrus: Even I don't believe that Williams. Ever time she and Shepard are alone I see you practically sweat jealousy
Ashley: I'm obviously not jealous Garrus. I won.
Joker: So you admit to there was a competition?
Ashley: No.. Maybe ... No no there was never anything between me and Liara.
Garrus: I remember you snapped at her more than a couple times at mission debriefs Ash, don't tell me there was nothing.
Liara: Well .. I admit that there was a small disagreement between me and Lieutenant Commander Williams ... but we solved our problem years ago. There is nothing more to talk about.
Vega: Look I don't have to hear the story if it'll cause more drama, it's fine.
Joker: If it's old news then why shouldn't we talk about it? Did I ever tell you that after Zhu's Hope, Ash and Liara actually went to Shepard to make him choose?
Ashley: Look at the time! I should be heading back to the ship, you know Spectre stuff. Good night
Joker: No fun Ash, no fun.
-----------------------------------
Ashley leaves the bar and heads back to the ship, takes a look at her omni-tool and sees a new message.
Liara: We need to talk.

Hmm.... I dunno.  Not bad.

However, I regret to inform you, that this conversation, along with the other quoted earlier, failed the Bechdel test.

Go look it up.  It tends to make more interesting female characters that pass it. Trust me on this one.

Hey all! Figured i'd post this here as well for those interested. Since the lack of Ash talking to squadmates on the ship was freaking lame. It was something I was really looking forward to /sadface. She's still awesome tho. ;p

Yeah... I agree. That's how I could see Ash handling that.

I'm glad my own Shepard never did anything with Liara, though with the way Liara acts sometimes, I could still see Ash wondering if they need to have a conversation.

Liara's gift before the final mission in ME3 is particularly unsettling. Edwin Shepard went along with it so he wouldn't hurt Liara, but he's not sure if he should tell Ash. Not sure she'd react well, especially since they said their goodbyes literally moments before he talked to Liara.

What's really cool about Ash though is that even though there's likely tension with Liara, she still goes to talk to her after Thessia. Just like she talked to her after her mother died. Ash is a good enough person to put things aside at times like that.

As someone who has a Shepard for each I don't see them being "friends" but also not "enemies". With my male Shepard who is with Ash he considers Liara a friend ... This might sometimes make Ashley a little jealous but it does not stop her from being concerned about Liara after Noveria, Thessia and she even protects Liara from the crazy metal woman.

When it comes to the "gift" if I ever play PV Shepard in ME3 (due to the ending I've never played my canon EW or my guy PV) he would accept the gift. Contrary to what some think they did not "meld" and have mind sex. She touched his mind like in ME1 ... nothing more. PV Shepard would not consider what they did cheating since it was by no means sexual in nature and is just a way that the asari can communicate. But I also could see a Shepard turning her down because (s)he hates that type of communication/exchange.

In description it says that dialogue is in the game files so he used power of editing to add the conversation in that video.

Either bugged or cut for not being in game.

I dunno. It highly depends on your interpretation. My Shepard accepted the gift and doesn't consider it as "cheating" or something, but it's still a very intimate experience.

Keep in mind: women tend to see emotional attachment as cheating, men consider sex as cheating. So we have two different levels of "when does cheating start". Let's say Liara just shared memories and didn't do any sexy mindsex stuff, it's still scratching the "emotional attachment level". Ash could consider it as cheating, especially since she had displayed little understanding of Asari culture before.

So even if my Shepard does not consider it as "cheating", Ash may do. She's the jealous type and out of the women in the series, Liara urges Ash more violent responses. Won't debate here if that's fair or not, but I can see where it comes from and I can see the misunderstandings. My Shepard wants to keep Liara as a friend. Ashley may mind that - or at least won't feel that easy. Yeah, she might not hate Liara, but she definitely won't feel easy as well.
Liara on the other hand, being an Asari, has the "disadvantage" of her foreign culture. She's not that much experienced with human (western) culture and therefore may run into issues. Especially since her attempts to be a friend of Shepard can be mistaken as romantic interest (which may be the case). Ash needs to accept that fact and Liara may tune down it a bit and there is a high chance they get along one day.

That, of course, is just my interpretation and headcanon. Actually, on the long run Ash & Liara become as close friends as Liara is with Shepard already.

Posted that into Liara's fan thread as an attempt to finally make peace between both fandoms.
Lets see how it turns out.

Stand strong, stand together.
(Catchy. And I love it. Ash approves too.)

Who wants a Liara/Ashley dialogue?

Okay, that's "post-Ending" - Ashley & Liara talk. Since it fits, it's about the "gift".
Warning, depressive!

-----------------

Liara stood in front of the door of Shepard's cabin and heard a sobbing from inside. She decided to look if everything was alright.

Liara: Hey ... may I come in? Everything's alright?
Ashley: ... no ... don't come in. I want to be alone ...
Liara: Ash ..? You know, if you want to talk ...
Ashley: I don't wanna talk, Liara. I just need time.
Liara: Okay. I just wanted to tell you something about Shepard. If you feel better, you may come down later.

Hours were passing until Ashley decided to accept Liara's offer.

Ashley: Hey ...
Liara: Hello Ashley.
Ashley: I thought about what you said. Sorry ... we haven't been friends all time and ... you were the last one I expected looking for me.
Liara: Everyone was wondering why you didn't come down for our situation meeting. You weren't answering any calls as well so someone had to check for you. Everything alright?
Ashley: No ... not a bit. Where is Skipper, Liara ... and where are we?!
Liara: EDI is currently calculating our position. And Shepard ... I don't know ...
Ashley: He's gone, Liara. Again. He died a second time, left me alone a second time ... *tries to fight tears*
Liara: Ashley, I know. Shepard showed me.
Ashley: How ... ?
Liara: Before he left, I gave him a gift, I melted my mind with his. It's a custom in our culture and is usually done between lovers and close friends. It also doubles as farewell. Shepard was a close friend to me. When we melted our minds, he saw some of mine and I saw some of his memories.
Ashley: I should feel jealous now ... but I'm not, Liara.
Liara: Actually, I feel jealous, Ashley. The most prominent image in his memories was you. You were with him all time, from the very first moment to the last. Shepard was able to go through all the pain and dead because of you.
Ashley: ... he just didn't make it in the end ... *loses the fight against tears*
Liara: Shepard didn't want to die, Ashley. He wanted a future. ... hmmm ... why not. Why shouldn't I show you?
Ashley: What?
Liara: If you're accept it, I may show you Shepard's last memories. All I need is to meld my mind with yours. Are you ready?
Ashley: I am ready.
Liara: Close your eyes ... *focuses on Ashley's face* ... embrace eternity ...

Shepard: Liara, I ... don't know. These memories are private.
Liara: Yes, they are. I showed you mine. You know why I care for you that much. You know that I love you, even if it was never destined to happen. You love Ashley ...
Shepard: Yes, I do.
Liara: I can't tell you how happy I am for you two, but you can feel it.
Shepard: It has no future, Liara. You know it. I won't come back ... there is no future for Ashley and me.
Liara: You're certain about that part, right?
Shepard: Absolutely. How can this lead to a happy ending? The Reapers ... they can't be taken down without a sacrifice. Like Mordin realized it in his final moment, I do so now. It has to be me. When the beacon knocked me out, my fate was written down already.
Liara: Knowing ones own future can be a burden, Shepard.
Shepard: Yeah ...
Liara: Don't fear that future. You do it for Ashley ...
Shepard: That's the only thing I regret. I do it for her, but not for me. There's no future for us ...

Liara: That's not all of it, but the part that's most interesting to you, Ashley.
Ashley: He knew it. He knew it from the beginning ... *tears flowing freely*

.... -.-
