Sitting in bed reading fanfics and reading the Ashley thread, brilliant

Ash is more than entitled to feel a bit cautious about an alliance vessel suddenly being full of aliens and it speaks to her character that she is the only one who questions Shepard on it while the rest of your crew just blindly follow (I suppose most of the rest are aliens but anyway). She was always the only one with the guts to question anything and it actually made me like her more.

I always felt sympathetic to Tali and she is the only other character I would make my LI, it's still Liara I have a beef with (but it isn't hate!!!)

Top Ash pic keeping up the current theme of discussion

On Tali and the stealth technology that turned up in the quarian fleet...

Yeah, all I can say is, Edwin Shepard felt like he had egg on his face when the scans came back on that quarian ship. He never brought it up with Tali, but he was actually just a little angry at her.

He was also grateful that Ash never brought the matter up with him... Posted Image

Although, FYI, that was a MAJOR missed chance for a conversation with Tali.

Shepard: So... Tali... I noticed a few things when the Normandy scanned your ship...

Were Ashley and Anderson friends? Anderson never acknowledged her on Earth at the final battle. I also wondered if he know Ash and Shep are together

Anderson seemed to at least respect her. Remember - he decided to bring her aboard the SR-1, and he also seemed to select her for special missions when he was a Councilor (or just working for Councilor Udina, if that's who you put on the Council).

I don't know if they ever spent enough time around each other or not to become friends. Anderson left the Normandy shortly after she came on board. But there's enough there to suggests he respects her abilities.

As for whether he knows Ash and Shep are together - no clue. I wonder the same thing about Hackett.

A little bit sad Ash, hopefully she will get something to be happy about later on.

 Hia   =)

Know I'm not one of the regulars but it's always nice to swing by. Make up for few posts with really long ones when I do write.

Playing first FemShep with Ash in ME3, haven't seen her in this game before. Finally had the last scene in the hospital with her and it was a nice one. It really feels like she and FemShep got back to being friends after having a few tense moments on Mars. Hoping to see a happier Ash at some point of the game as a FemShep. She does have a lot to feel worried about with family back on earth and later on her little sister losing her husband. Not that it is wrong that she is sad, not at all.
Hmm... maybe she will have some really great banter with FemShep on a mission, or some really good banter on the ship. Just that, well, bromance-feeling I'm getting with Garrus. I'm hoping for my sister-in-arms-feeling with Ash. At the moment she's sad and worried, so my FemShep is supportive and friendly. As friends should be. Let's hope that their relationship develops a bit during the game. Maybe next convo will be a little happier, keeping my fingers crossed   =)

I like how the app on my iPod made Ash feel present in the game even when she wasn't on the Normandy. She has sent a few messages during the game so far.

Ash: Heard Garrus is back on board. That is good news.
Ash: Head you came by while I was out. Appriciate it. I'm awake. Lots of drugs though.
Ash: I'll try to do humanity proud as a spectre. I've got a lot to live up to.
Ash: Looks like I'm getting out of the hospital. About time.

And her in-game letter.

I've heard she has some very good banter on Thessia, though I prefer to take Javik on that mission, for story reasons.

If you do have the "From Ashes" DLC, I always like to bring Ash along to Eden Prime. She has some good comments on the shuttle, and a little banter on the planet - including some that are specific to Sheprad's background (colonist, earthborn, etc).

I feel like I get gipped out of some of the best Ash banter. I've heard that the rachni mission has good Ash banter, but I always do it before the coup. I've heard that the bomb mission on Tuchanka also has good Ash banter, but that always gets done before the coup, as well.

Doing those missions later feels wrong in terms of story flow. I wish they had put more effort into giving Ash good lines on missions and on the Normandy.

Oh - she also has good lines if you bring her along with EDI on the assault on Cerberus HQ. Make sure you watch all of the data entries that EDI accesses for you.

Ahh... well, that's great news for me. I saved all those quests in order to play them after the coup this time. Ha ha, looks like I'll be taking Ash on every mission    =)

Hmm... It worked for my current FemShep, she just wanted that cure fixed as soon as possible. Private missions for both the Primarch and Wreav could wait until there were some Krogans on their way to Palaven. Also... I had no idea that you could do those after the coup until I read up on it here on the forum.

It's kinda what the piece is about. Why would Ash and Tali talk about something else when they're supposed to be addressing the Shepard issue?

They talk about something else here.

Yes, well, so far, and as far as I've seen, the only thing that they've ever discussed was Shepard.  Never their home.  Never their families.  Never their pasts.  Nothing. Just Shepard.

And while I can appreciate the doubt you instill in Ashley in that link you provided, I think it reeks just a bit too much of ME1 Ashley before she mellowed out.  Her voice is ONLY a voice of doubt.  For her to only speak of that when she has been the witness of her suspicions being smashed into the ground is hypocricy.   She has benefited from giving people the benefit of the doubt and has grown as a character because of it.   Is she stll wary later on?  Sure, however, there's more to her than that.

I am going to have to respectfully disagree on that link that it would be something Ash would say.

I think I just had an epiphany....Ash...Phoenix armor...Ash....

Anyways, I think Ashley is great. Sometimes what you need is just a real woman, not a blue skinned space babe or a genetically engineered biotic whatever.

I know I've said this before..but Ashley may be just a prophet with a gun. The Jeremiah of her time, willing to say the unpopular truth that everyone kinda ignores.
  • The bear example. If push comes to shove the Council will dump humanity in order to save itself....and presto what happens in ME3? "That sad truth is that while Earth suffers, we can use the time to gather resources".
  • "I don't trust Cerberus and it frightens me that you do"...And what does TIM do? Create an army of husks
  • "Is it wise to let aliens poke around?"....and guess which races just happens to have Tantulus steath technology later (granted we did copy their cyclonic shield tech in ME2).
And despite all of that she know the alternatives are much worse. Despite realizing the self-interested nature of the council (especially the Asari), she still protects them. She doesn't betray them.

Ashley, the somewhat renegade yin to my paragon Shepard yang.

Also just gave her colossus armor in my ME1 playthrough....damn!

While I agree with the point presented with the blogpost, I have to ask; what would be the point of showing this to more people?

That Ashley, being right, makes Tali a bad person for acquiring the stealth tech, who is a far lesser threat than the likes of Cerberus, whom already has it?

I know I'm missing something here. Could someone please enlighten me.

If it's along the lines of Ash, not only being a more accepting individual of other species, but a better person than people think, then it's an idea I can get behind. I like Ash.

Well written, 'though I think Ash is a bit too forgiving. Even if she sees Tali as "little sister", she would have at least some sad feelings - that's not that visible. Well, maybe it's just me who imagines a hurt Ash here. Maybe she is REALLY okay with the love between Tali and Shepard since all she wants them to be happy.

(In that case - I wonder if Ashley told another friend about her inner turmoil)

Well I did imagine she's still sad about it, though should have stated that.

Plus, it was quite the time frame between she braking up with Shepard in hospital and Tali is back on the Normandy.
Oh and I put the scene in engine room so is also past Rannoch, so I think Ashley had some time to, I hope I'm using right words, deal with it.

Again, should have said that in post, but I'll try to build upon that in future.

I dunno. The time frame doesn't play a role in the game. If you ignore the lack of Ashley interaction in the second half of the game and concentrate on the first part, you can see a woman that still loves Shepard (if romanced). The time didn't weaken her love for him. Keep in mind: she was devastated when Shepard died and was confused about her feelings when he returned from the dead, working for Cerberus. She still is in ME3, but only because she loves him! Without that emotion, Ash wouldn't feel that much confused and betrayed by Shepard (and her own emotions too)!

That means to me, she always will feel hurt if Shepard moves on. I dunno about Kaidan here, think it's the same. The two human LIs take Shepard's new love less lightly like Liara ...

Ashley just might accept Tali as new GF more easily than the rest, besides that, she's not happy and still hurt.

Does Ash say something if you move on with Cortez?

^Yeah, I agree with that.

But I think she would start to try and move on.

As for time frame, for me there's is one and it's quite long one. I think I should write a blog one day on what exact time frame in ME3 is there for me.

And don't know does she says anything if you cheat on her with Cortez, but I now I wonder too.

To show Ashley wasn't throwing allegations without good reasons.
The Normandy SR1 was cutting edge technology developed by the Turians and the Alliance. Do you really want people on board who might steal some of its tech? Especially the stealth tech was "top secret" - I doubt the Turians know all about it, since no Turian stealth ship was shown in the game.

Ash would have said something similar if Shepard had accepted a Batarian as squadmember. Wait ... no. She would beat him up.

That Ashley, being right, makes Tali a bad person for acquiring the stealth tech, who is a far lesser threat than the likes of Cerberus, whom already has it?

Nope.

Tali is no bad person. Remember what's said about her society? They don't have real "private property". The Quarians are kinda "space socialists". That doesn't mean they don't have a concept for secrecy, however, maybe that's the reason why Tali took the intel.

I know I'm missing something here. Could someone please enlighten me.

i did.

If it's along the lines of Ash, not only being a more accepting individual of other species, but a better person than people think, then it's an idea I can get behind. I like Ash.

Well, Ashley is no racist / specist / xenophobe - she simply doesn't trust people she does not know. That's all.

In case of Wrex it makes sense. Krogans don't have a positive reputation. It's up to the player to help the Krogans, but at the beginning of ME1, Krogans weren't seen as victims but as people who got what they deserved.

Liara - well. Every woman would feel intimidated by a woman-like species that basically never really ages AND doesn't know the word "ugly". Plus it doesn't help Liara was the daughter of the second in command of Saren.

Garrus - he's the face of the species that made her grandfather to surrender on Shanxi - and tainted her family's name. That's the only and ONLY prejudice I can make out so far.

Tali - out of the bunch, she's the one Ashley does not mind. However, Ashley's generic picture, her entire view on the things about "dog and bear", "not trusting easily" etc turned out to be right in the end. That's one of the reasons why I love Ash - she keeps my a bit naive paragon Shepard attached to reality. Without her, he would do some stupid things like trusting the wrong guys. *cough* Cerberus *cough*
