Does anyone know what happened to the Halo movie? If they're truly going to make a film about the first game... it's going to end badly :(

Lol guys will you all chill out over the movie? going back and forth over who said what wont accomplish anything. For all we know it could be The First Contact War or ME1 or even the Krogan hangover part 3.

As I said before lets all wait till there is more info to really talk about it or just wait till they show off a teaser trailer or something.

I have to admit it: I'd pay to see that.

Okay back on Ashley. Who wants Ash to be our personal executioner of mutnious squadmates? Like in ME1.  lets say you sacrifice the Quarrian fleet to  win a battle and Tali turns on you, and you have a renegade interrupt to signal Ashley to put Tali down like a rabid dog.

In regards to the movie being about ME1...Ill just point out The Last Airbender and leave it at that. In response to the responses I received. EVERY action hero babe is a "sexy badass" these days...the market is flooded with it. Is it really so bad for wanting a woman who isn't all doll'd up for once? someone whos just normal looking and not fighting in high heel boots and armor with a zipper halfway down and hair that totaly screws with her vision and depth perception? I'm tierd of everyone acting like its a Sin to hate this new appearence. I aslo hate how everyone seems to think "sexy" has only one defenition. In my opinion she was already sexy and this make over made her look significantly worse. What everyone consider's "sexy" is the exact thing I despise, does that make me some baby eating monstrosity who can't except that a woman can be "sexy" and kick ass? no...why? because she already was that to me...and she was changed to fit the mainstream defeinition to appeal to a larger market...this being proven by the countless comments I have seen that goes like "wow I hated this racist b****, but now that shes hot like Miranda and not manly I'll forgive her teeheehee" I've seen this everywhere her new look shows up in. So much so that hateing her new look appears to be a crime and is nothing but "stupid fanboi whining." I am not upset or flameing with rage with this post...simply stateing my opinion on the matter based on everything I know. If she is still the same old Ashely regardless of appearence...thats fine and I wont care what she looks like...but from what I know of media this is not a good sign in my eyes. I am not writeing her off as a Miranda clone and walking off into the Sunset. I continue to hope for the best but I refuse to hope too much because when I do I am always disapointed. If you always assume the worst you can only be pleasently surprised, DA2 taught me that painful lesson. Except of course The Last Airbender...I expected the worst thing possible and was still disgusted with disapointment lol.

Ashely was the first video game character I ever cared about. Before Mass Effect I didn't really look at the games and the characters the way Mass Effect made me look at them. So seeing my first video game love change in such a way where bad things are not totaly immpossible worries me. And after the DA team stabbed my soul to death with Aveline I believe I have a right to be concerned. Sorry for the long post but I want my opinion known, I'm not someone who see's change and screams "BURN IT WITH FIRE!" I'm someone who see's the change and goes "wait a minute, this dont really fit too well...I smell the slim chance of a possible ret-con, Ill wait and see." If you dont like or agree with my opinion thats perfectly fine. But dont act like it's evil to hate her new look.

I am just tired of people dissing Barbie!
screaming 'Mirandafication', because of a few pics and a few seconds of video.
Stripped from its actual meaning the argument follows the same structure as saying Ashley is racist based on a few comments she makes. I don't like this kind of argumentation.
Simply voicing concern about Ashley in ME3 doesn't bring that kind of reaction from me, but bashing another character, namely Miranda, and Bioware and its current writers in the process, does.
Miranda is a great character, too, no Ashley though, but dissing her for her looks is as sexist as purely loving the new Ashley for the apparent visual changes.
I prefer Ashley the way she looks in ME1, too, and I certainly don't think anyone who doesn't like the new look is stupid or even 'evil' and anyone who is concerned about the way they develop her character has an irrational fear of change.
I am simply annoyed with a certain form of argumentation that comes with using terms such as 'mirandafication'.
And I have heard the term so often now, that I can't help but smile and in some instances post some humerous images as a reply.

I can understand your annoyance with this elektrego but you do have to accept that there are people who do not like Miranda. I am one of them.

I won't go into too much detail regarding that because this is the Ashley thread. Posted ImagePosted Image

Of course we are worried about Ashleys treatment in ME3 by the writers and character artists. I like her ME1 look the most but I am not opposed to her new look as long as it is her casual wear only. If this turns out to be her combat look and if her character has been changed accordingly then I will cry foul and the term that ADL doesn't like to read on the forum will have come true. Posted Image

Ashley was the best written character in video game history in ME1 and she was more than beautifull in that game. Right now I am reasonably concerned for ME3 when it comes to Ashley.

We are all Ash fans and we should get along. Don't bash anyones opinion and we will all get along fine. Posted Image

It's true, Ash was sexy before the makeover. That some people failed to tune into that is their problem. Her purported ugliness doesn't justify a makeover, never mind nothing short of a complete 180º. When I first saw the gameinformer scans, I was like "alright cool, the faithfuls deserve a treat. This might even convert some non-fans." But then you think about it a little harder, and yeah, it's not right.

And then there's the argument that it's just her casual.

A. So what? It's still in disagreement with the character we know.
B. Why would the rest of the alternate appearance pack feature combat outfits with Ashley being the sole exception? Her hair is down, her makeup is just right, she's wearing a paper-thin jacket with thigh-high boots, and she's ready for combat. Apparently.

I will wait and see what ME3 has in store for Ashley's character. But in the meantime, I wish this violation of her character would inspire a little more noise.

Kaidan: "Those Asari commandos are impressive. Lightly armored, but their speed more than makes up for it."
Ashley: "Unless that speed lets them outrun bullets, I’m more inclined to stick with nice solid armor and a big gun."

I agree with you.

I always wondered if everyone in this thread forgot about that elevator conversation between Ashley and Kaidan. Thank you for posting it.

Thanks to the character art team it seems that BW is performing "character assasination" on Ashley. I sure hope that I am wrong.

I really whish I am wrong. So far much of what we know are little snippets of information here and there and a few promising tweets from Casey Hudson that she will have full armor and a helmet in ME3.

We don't have much to go on at the moment which makes this whole situation crazy. If Casey Hudson would just finally show us a screenshot of Ashley in armor and a confirmation by the writing staff that her character will be intact than I can see us all calming down considerably.

Not everything everyone ever says has to become a dogma for the rest of their lives. I can certainly think of a few examples from my life, where I acted completey different to what I have said a couple of years before.
Plus, and I have already said that, we don't know if the armor suit actually has better protective properties than the older models due to a difference in technology(I know, highly speculative, but I prefer looking for positive explanations rather than going crazy over a couple of pictures and a few seconds of video. -
edit: I prefer to go crazy over people going crazy, lol :D)
Preferences in professional equipment are hardly part of the core aspects of a persons character, imo, and therefore I think a change in that aspect can hardly be classified as a violation of character.
I am aware however, that someone else might see that differently...

I can see how that can be fun but that can also be misinterpreted as being rude. And that can turn away new Ash fans from this thread. (Let them get to know us first before we have fun. Posted Image)

We should stick together. We are all Ashley fans in this thread.

Well, trash talking Ashley's new outfit till kingdom come can turn away those new fans, who have no problem with or even like the new character design, if you look at it like that.
I was merely trying to fight fire with fire...
I am all for gathering peacefully in the shade of the 'Ash tree'...

ah yes the "Asari commando" convo. I've been putting ashley in light armor for about 5 ME1 PT's now and she's still an immortl tank. But since she scoffs at the most feared warriors in the galaxy (those commandos) let's list all the famous people in Mass Effect that do wear heavy armor suits and their success in combat!

Nihlius: Spectre sent to evaluation Comamnder Shepard (killed by one pistol shot)
Random mercenaries: killed by Comandner shepard and maybe Ashley along the course of ME1
Anoleis's thugs on Noveria: KIA by Shepard
The geth: the come with armor plating and are killed by the hundreds by various alliance soldiers including Ashley.
Krogan Mercenaries: also killed by the hundreds and ahve redundant nervous systems and regeneration.
Turian Mercenaries: Also killed by the hundreds over the course of two games.
Saren: heavy and reaper upgraded armor, still dead as dead can be after being defeated twice before his final death.
Commander Shepard: yes even she wore heavy armor and she still died....then was subsiquently brought back to life two years later to resume her role as a hyper lethal entity.
Bloodpack and Blue suns mercs: still died despite their heavy armor.
Jedore: had heavy armor and a rocket launcher: dead.
Warden Kuril: head of purgatory, used heavy armor: dead.

I think my point has been made that heavy armor doesn't neccisarrily give one a better hcance of surviving. One group not on there are asari. Yes the eclipse have some asari but you scarely see asari dying as cannon fodder. Even though Ashley scoffs at it the Asari are the deadliest things in space when it comes to combat and it'd be great character development if Ashley learned from the Asari now that she's a spectre and used their armor to become even more deadly than she already was.

@who would know, thomas; Perhaps Ashley herself has changed a bit, a new perspective on life? It's been a long time since you had a proper chat with her afterall. The outfit could could, storywise, be a result of something changing in Ashley. We know far too little to talk about character assasination. I'm staying optimistic.

On another note, I really hope to see some great mid fight conversations between ash and shepard á la LotSB. I could see bioware joking about her change of looks actually.

I don't know why people care so much about the size of armor, if she has on lighter armor, it doesn't make her less of a soldier, it doesn't mean she is suddenly being defined by her sexuality or any other crazy ideas people come up with. Its just a design decision and smaller, more form fitting clothing and armor for the characters, look better than the standard bulky suit.
