Shepard: Here you go, sweetie.
Baby!Hannah: *giggles and laughs, clutching the toy close*
Sarah: Ah, I thought it was you two pulling up!
Ashley: Hey Sar'.
Sarah: Hey Ashie, and it's nice to see you too, John.
Shepard: Pleasure as always, Sarah.
Sarah: Please, come in. I have the kettle on. But if you're looking for a playmate, I just put Tommy down for his afternoon nap.
Ashley: That's alright. Hannah's due for her nap shortly anyway. And we're not planning to stay long. We just wanted to pop in for a visit. John, do you want to...?
Shepard:  Sure, *takes baby Hannah off Ashley and holds her close*
Sarah: That's kind of you, do you still want a cup of coffee or something.
Shepard: Thanks, but no thanks. Do you?
Ashley: Actually, I think I'll pass on that one, too. Feeling nauseas and out of sorts to be perfectly frank.
Sarah: Oh, that's too bad. Are you alright?
Ashley: I'm great. We just came back from the Doctors and, well - *smiles with a slight shrug*
Sarah: Another one?
Ashley: Yeah. I'm about six weeks now.
Sarah: Can't you leave the poor woman alone, man?
Shepard: Leave a glorgious woman like your sister alone? Never.
Ashley: You really know how to charm a woman, Skipper.
Shepard: Love you too, dear.*Hannah starts to fuss
Sarah: Sounds like someone wants to sleep.
Ashley: Yes, she's been awake all day. Maybe Daddy should put her down for a nap.
Shepard: Yeah. I'm going to. Pleasure seeing you again, Sarah.
Sarah: You too, John. I'll drop Ash by this evening. That alright with you?
Shepard: Sounds good. Just... no planning over-the-top babyshowers, ok? I had to spend hours cleaning up after the last time.
Ashley: *Half-joking* But Skipper! You've completely ruined our evil schemes!
Shepard: Somehow, I think I can live with myself.

With all due respect to the artist...am not really seeing Ashley in that photo (the reddish hair is what throws me and the wrong skin tone)

Other than that its pretty heart warming

I'm still working on my second ME3 playthrough myself. I honestly don't know what difficulty setting it's at. Is starting to feel a bit easy, though, so maybe if I do another playthrough I should turn it up a notch.

For me, the game, from now on, will finish after the scene with TIM and Anderson. So I don't have to worry about the endings. Edwin Shepard can't remember anything that happens between Hackett calling about the crucible not firing, and waking up on Earth, in the rubble, with Ash holding him.

EDIT: Also, Aurora - that dialouge warms my heart.

That's the kind of ending I want Shepard to have. I could see him being pulled back into helping the galaxy. Same for Ash. But in the end, I think they'd still be together, and eventually they'd want a more stable life and a family.

Indoctrination Theory perhaps?

Honestly? IT doesn't appeal to me because I can't see it ending any happier than what we have now.

So far as I know, there's no way to overcome indoctrination. So, the cynic in me says that ending would go something like this, after Ash finds Shepard.

Shepard: Ash... The Reapers got to me. I'm indoctrinated. Fighting it off. But don't know if I can hold out forever.
Ash: What? Oh, God, no.
Shepard: Ash, you can't let me survive. I'm the enemy now... You know what you need to do.

Image IPB

So... yeah. Shepard himself isn't sure how much happened, but I suspect he did make it to the Citadel and got as far as Anderson/TIM. After that, who knows, except that he found some way to get back to Earth, obviously. Perhaps the conduit can take you both directions.

Actually IT doesn't state that Shepard is indoctrinated. Its states that he's trying to fight it off.

The end sequence takes place in his mind. A test of character if you will, a test of whether he can retain his focus on the goals.

Perhaps the new VA recording is to thrown in a specter of Ashley....A final test? A Specter of Ashley tempting Shepard to make the wrong choice. Or a vision of her reminding him of his goals...

I'm not so sure it's possible for anyone to even fight off indoctrination. TIM obviously couldn't. There's no indication that anyone, in any cycle, has ever managed to do so. Which is something that troubles me about IT as a proposed ending. Shepard is already special enough - now we're going to make him seemingly the only sentient ever to beat a Reaper indoctrination attempt?

If he can't beat indoctrination, if he merely holds it off, then we're back to the utterly depressing ending I laid out above. Because he can't fight it off forever. And even if all of the Reapers are killed, hasn't it been established that even dead Reapers can indoctrinate?

Then, of course - even if Shepard can somehow "defeat" indoctrination, where does it leave him? Lying half dead, in the rubble, on Earth, presumably with the Citadel still closed, the crucible unable to dock (and it's function still uncertain), the invasion force getting curb stomped, and the Reapers still undefeated. So, really, even with the "best" possible outcome, IT doesn't seem like much of an ending to me.

I don't say any of this to be overly critical of IT. I like that people are trying to come up with something other than the horrible, confusing, inconsistent, plot hole ridden endings that we were given. It's just that I personally care about having the option for a happy outcome for Shepard and Ash more than anything else, and I'm far from 100% convinced that indoctrination would give that to us.

EDIT: New deal: Any time I go horribly off topic, I post a pic of Ash to make up for it.

You know, the idea of endings was great, but how BW made it... I mean, it was necessary to crash Normandy far from Earth and show us only one breath of Shepard? As I said, the ending might be cool, but realization of it sucks.

And what happened with Johnny and Ashley? (Johnny it's Shepard (: )

The endings were horrible on their own merit. They didn't feel like Mass Effect. They seemed like someone took the endings from another game and just tacked them on to ME3.

Whatever. Back to Ash.

Edwin Shepard always stayed faithful to Ash, even in ME2, when their relationship was arguably over and Miranda (who he was also attracted to) came on to him.

I'm sure there are quite a few Shepards that moved on during ME2, only to get back together with Ash, though. So, my question - do you think the fact that he had a different LI in ME2 will have a long term impact on their relationship? Do you think it will make Ash a little more suspicious of whether or not he's cheating on her?

It's an interesitng question, I think. I really do think their relationship was effectively over after Horizon, but I still think that a Shepard who stayed loyal will have a better foundation long term with Ash. I mean, look at it this way: To Shepard, it had only been a few months since he last saw Ash. If he can move on that quickly, doesn't it mean that, at the very least, their relationship needs more work?

Hmm... I'll have to take a look. Any other indy developers you'd suggest?

While not strictly indy, Magicka  ($12 ish) has been one of my favourite recent plays. It's not much on your own as it is designed for 4 player coop but it is a game that is hilarious and doesn't take itself too seriously.  I think I might have actually enjoyed it more than ME3! ^_^ It had a rocky launch but most if not all of the bugs are gone.

Frozen Synapse is also worth checking out. It you like a challenge then this is for you.

@BP.

I have nothing to say that I haven't already said. Perfect!

I do have a question though, is the casket open or closed?

referring to Anderson's open casket

I'm kind of glad it's a closed casket

So that's one down, one to go.
Helm!? You know what I'm going to ask!

LOL I totally didn't realize. And I even proofread.

Also don't discount the presence of the prothean beacon. As far as I can tell its a message, a cipher...but it was also linked to Javik's "crypt". Could it possible that Shepard carries within him the "rage of an entire species" (from Chronicles of Riddick

Honestly, my Sheploo cheated Ashley in Mass Effect 2 with Tali... And you know why? I wanted to see a catfight! :D But Ashley was not so angry, when she talked about cheating... ):

Yeah, I'm not sure I'd see Ash actually fighting over a man. Even Shepard.

Snarky comments, yes. I really could see her getting snarky with Tali the way she does before the geth dreadnought mission, if Shep and Tali became a pair. Ash says that Tali "is like a sister" to her. But how well do you think she'd take it if she found out that Shepard and Sarah met, and were hooking up?

If Miranda had been on the ME3 squad, I'd almost for certain have one playthrough where Shepard and Miranda get togther. Don't think Ash and Miranda would care much for each other anyway, and they both have a way of making shall we say... "biting" comments. I can only imagine what the dialouge between the two of them would be like if Shepard had been with Miranda in ME2.

Just curious: Does your Shepard get back to gether with Ash, or stay with Tali? If he gets back together with Ash, do you think his relationship with Tali will ever become an issue?

I think it would make squad reunions... awkward.

Yeah it's heavy Collosus armor. I just made the black deeper.

If we had the same customization for squadmate armor in ME3 that we have for our own, I'd have a tough choice to make.

I really like having Ash and Shepard in Alliance blue. But the Collosus armor from ME1 also made me very fond of black and red.

As it stands, Shepard's armor for all of ME2 was black and red. Even though it's blue and red now.

Well, my Shepard with Ash and Tali with Garrus. I made it only to see something funny, because I remember how Liara and Ash talked about relationships. There were some funny dialogs in ME3, but only few. (:
