You don't have to romance her after saving her. First time i played it I had been flirting with Liara aswell ( I was young and foolish at the time lol) it was later in the game I had to choose between her or Ashley and it wasn't confirmed by what I did on Virmire

Well then there should be an option where you speak to Ash and you can basically tell her no, or just stop flirting with her

Maybe you are right, I've only ever romanced her in ME1 so I can't really say but I'd be surprised if Virmire confirms your relationship

It always go down that path for whatever reason....

If you acccidentally romance her, when she comes over to you while the Normandy is lockedown, you can tell her "not now" and that'll break off the romance.

Short of that, just don't go and talk to her in-between missions and you'll be okay.

She's not gonna rape you, if you don't want to romance her you should be abe to make it clear

I know, lol. I felt bad the one time I had to do it with my main MShep (it was during a playthrough I originally planned to import to ME2, but held off as I wasn't quite level 60). Which is why on my last playthrough with him, I avoided talking to her. Made up for it by creating a second MShep whom I romanced her with.

I always feel bad about Virmire cause I get mad that I couldn't save them both, which I maintain is possible. But it always goes the same way, I just can't leave Ashley behind, I've heard the dialogue from her if you do and it breaks my heart

That's an odd thing.
I like Kaidan. Leaving him behind is a difficult decision - but leaving Ash behind? Impossible. That's like asking me to cut off my right hand. 
Also I can't -not- romance Ashley. Simply can't - talking to this amazing temptress gets me always. It's like talking to your true love, so to speak *g*

I do sound obsessed, right? Well, it's bedtime ... ^^

"Fantastisch" - the "sh" of Ash is at the end, not in the middle, buddy

Well I see that now, I was never good at German lol. I wonder if Ashley spoke any other languages apart from English? Seems like all humans in the future (and aliens) speak English which is strange considering how big the universe is

After the first time I played ME, I started another playthrough thinking, "Well, I guess this time I 'll try the Liara romance."

Ended up romancing Ash anyway. My justification was that in my first ME1 playthrough, I missed most of the side quests (only did the ones I found info for on missions or picked up on the Citadel). So my second playthrough was the canon, "completionist" playthrough, so I HAD to romance Ash, so it would be totally right.

Third time I played through ME1, I thought, "this time, I'll definately try the Liara romance. I have no excuse." Ended up romancing Ash anyway. Because... well. Because I wanted to.

Haha. I know. I just didn't want to risk getting into a romance with her, then straying during ME2 (I started the series with ME2 on the PS3 because I like Yvonne Strahvoski and the intention was always to have Thomas- my main MShep- romance Miranda). Though ever since I first played ME, Ash has been a close second favorite squadmate, which is why I ultimately created Daniel so I could romance her.

I'll admit I romanced Miranda on two different ME2 playthroughs (one of them being my first ever playthrough of ME2) but it just wasn't up to par with Ash for me. If I had to rank them though Miranda would be #2.
