If you were reading the page that I think you are - you should know that there's more Ashley content in the actual script. It's not a happy thought, I know. Posted Image

I had the link, that's what annoys me.

Bear in mind just having it in the script may not be a guarantee it will make into the final product. A whole host of factors may have influenced ME3 and whether or not it was rushed

- Release of other games:
With Halo 4 releasing later this year, lot of companies would want to release their product way ahead of Halo 4, if only to avoid being crushed by the juggernaut that it is. This may have contributed to them "rushing" ME3. This phenemono was seen during the release of MW2.

-Budget:
Bioware hired a lot of big names for this project. Big names that would command top salary (Hans Zimmer, Martin Sheen, Michael Hogan, Tricia Helfer...) So while you have may have the ideas on paper, the fact of the matter is that come round production time, you'd have blown the bank

- Fatigue
At this point I would imagine a lot of writer, programmers and whatnot have put considerable time and effort into the project. At some point, the mentality could descended into "f*ck it, just kick out the door and let us be free of it"...especially during the last weeks of the project.

- Talent competition
A lot of ME writers were sent off to Bioware Austin to help with the "Old Republic" launch. These people then wither worked with the distraction of star wars or were actively pulled of the ME project. Bear in mind the lead writer (Drew Karphshyn) and the lead gameplay designed from ME2 (Christina Norman) both left Bioware before the product went gold. Whether it was for personal reasons or not, is up to them. But the loss of any personnel on a project can affect it...negatively or positively.

At this point at least someone at Bioware has to have come to their senses and realized their errors. ME3 is still a decent product on its own...but when compared to the rest of the series it fizzles out.

I miss Emily Wong, and what irritates me about that is that I distinctly recall forum posts on the BSN asking to have Emily Wong as an embedded, "on ship" reporter.

From what I recall of those posts, it seems like they basically took the ideas that people wanted with Wong, gave them to some new character that no one had as much attachment to, then killed Wong off in their twitter feed.

*sighs*

What pisses me off is that they completly replaced Emily with that generic male reporter you hear all over the Citadel.  If they spent so much money gettin Chobot in the game then why not atleast have her do all those news reports.

What I don't understand is Jessica F*cking Chobot. WHY ARE YOU THERE?!?

I don't know, I never bring her on board anyway. What a waste. I mean are there any Allers fans?

Let me clarify that I'm not hating on Traynor or Cortez, but I just feel that they're redundant characters. Like DWH said, the ME2 shuttle didn't have a pilot. So why the sudden need for one? I guess they just needed to give Cortez a somewhat meaningful role so that he's not just "gay dude on the ship". Traynor is basically a Kelly replacement who is more of a shadow broker than Liara.

But like I said; whatever. It's no use complaining about it. Just hope the EC gives us some more Ash, in one way or another.

EDIT: To the poster above me, is their confirmation of that? I've never seen that...If so, that's actually kind of awesome.

If you don't bring Allers aboard, she gets embedded with the SSV Shasta which gets destroyed in the Horse Head Nebula. She also leaves a substantial donation to the University of Milgrom's (Bekenstein) Journalism School, which is matched by the Alliance News Network. Personally, I don't care for Diana that much, but she helps a bit with the War Assets.

On the subject of Traynor, I love her romance. In fact, the FShep I romanced her with I subsequently promoted to "canon FShep" status.

Why do I always miss the good discussions?

Last time I played ME1, I sent Kaidan with the Salarian team since he's Staff Lieutenant. Ash stayed with the bomb, and when I had to make a decision, I doubled back to the bomb site to make sure it went off.

Since you missed discussion - Ashley was with salarians since her qualification is enough for maintaining radio contacts and as grunt she is more useful in direct fire (since there is no indirect fire apparently (outside of Tuchanka's Bomb mission and even there mortar fire doesn't even hurts), since it will kill "adrenalin©™® cover©™®-based©™® combat©™®") situations.
Well, not in ME1 - where Kaidan 1-on-1 took down Colossus from Sniper rifle. Posted Image

Yah know, I'm playing multiplayer, and for supposedly one of the most powerful sniper rifles in the game, it's surprisingly ****.

Single-shot rifles in game, especially those filling role of AMR, makes little sense. Widow should rip any human-sized target in pieces in one shot, regardless of shields, barriers and that funny polycrystalline-shield - it designed to destroy materiel. So only Brutes, Banshees, Primes and Atlases should have chance to survive 1 shot. But not more than 3 shots.

I believe the Bioware motto for ME3 romance is something along the lines of: "If it's not blue or gay, then it ain't worth it!"

You cannot even imagine how loud I'm laughing right now. Posted Image

Damn, animations in ME3 sucks... I have filling, that they even can't salute right.

Yeah, and I don't think that will be DLC with Ash. More possible with Aria. :)

This is from a Fem!Shep POV. (Default Femshep). Might apply it to a pet-project of mine. Will let you guys know if it gets off the ground.

Ashley: Do you have any family, Commander? If you don't mind my asking I mean.
F!Shepard: Yeah. Older twin brother and baby sister. And my parents. They've been divorced for a few years, but they started seeing each other again.
Ashley: Got a pretty decent-sized family. I have my mum plus three sisters.
F!Shepard: Could say the same to you Williams. No dad?
Ashley: He passed on a few years back.
F!Shepard: God rest his soul.
Ashley: Posted Image ... Now thats something I never expected to hear from you, ma'am. Posted Image
F!Shepard: Why the heck not?
Ashley: Sorry ma'am, I didn't mean any offense by it. I just meant, with your reputation I didn't expect you to be the religous type.
F!Shepard: I might be ruthless, but I'm still a person Williams. Got a problem with your CO being a spiritual person?
Ashley: No ma'am. I'm the same, ma'am.
F!Shepard: *chuckles* I'll bet.
Ashley: I mean, look out a window! How can you see everything out here and not believe in... something?
F!Shepard: I know, it's ridiculous. *starts laughing*
Ashley: Did I say something, Shepard?
F!Shepard: No, no. I'm just thinking that you and my brother'd get on like a house on fire.
Ashley: You trying to set me up on a date, Skipper?
F!Shepard: No. Nothing like that. Although I probably could if you wanted me to. That is if you don't mind breaking frat regs.
Ashley: I don't break Regs Ma'am, and would never entertain the notion.
F!Shepard: ...*nods, playfully smirking* Yeah. I know.
Ashley: But... hypothetically -  what kind of guy is he? If I were... ya know, interested.
F!Shepard: You two would either hate each other for all eternity, or even up falling in love.
Ashley: *laughing* I doubt it ma'am.
F!ShepardClearly you have not met my brother.

*Six years later, post Reaper war*

Ashley: So I'll meet you for lunch at one. Ok, I love you John.
Shepard: Love you too, Ash.
F!Shepard: I told you so.
Ashley: Shut up, Major.

I'm kinda surprised we made it that far. With the treatment of Ash in ME3 it's a wonder some new faces flock in - if I had started playing the series with ME3, I wouldn't care about her. "Who's that Williams lady"? I'd ask. Hell, I might visit her in the hospital and have a pep talk or so, but that's it - I RP my characters in a positive way.
Although the first impression is quite negative of Ash ...

Besides that? I dunno if I would have her back on the Normandy, not after all the trust issues in the first half of the game.

In my eyes, Ash got an unfair treatment. Same for Kaidan here - if you don't know both characters, you don't want them back. They're no fancy aliens (aka boring), they questioning Shepard (no go) and worst of all, they point a gun at the hero (uhhh ...).

*sigh*

I want my old Ash back.

@ Aurora:
Why does your new F!Shep remind me of another certain OC?

Because that certain OC WAS my old femshep. :P
A new project I'm trying to work up the energy to write is the default male and Female Shepards running in tandom. Wanna try and find a way to save Ash and Kaidan on Virmire. My solution? Make another Shepard save them while the main one fights Saren.

Technically it's the same project I was comteplating a few months ago, but I've got two 'clean slate' Shepards to work with. My other headcanons were just depressing...

Yeh, so it's gonna be a f!Shenko and a M!Shepley.

Sounds like an amazing project, Aurora =)

Try?

F!Shepard. Well ...
Shepard: Yeah ...
F!Shepard: That's awkward. Really.
Shepard: It was your idea.
F!Shepard: And it sounded good ... at first.
Shepard: "Doubledate".
F!Shepard: How should I know those two are ALSO flirting?
Shepard: I told you.
Ashley: Kaidan ... I never told you before but ... rawrrrr!
Kaidan: Are you trying something, Chief?
Ashley: No, no, of course not *innocent look*
F!Shepard: I quit.
Kaidan: Hey ... where are you going?
F!Shepard: Fleeing to a place without you two lovebirds, Lieutenant!
Ashley: What happened?
Shepard: It was her idea.

Shepard: ... and next time a Batarian calls you "ugly", don't start a bar fight.
Ashley: Why? I took him and his buddies down. Five with one strike, so to speak.
Shepard: I'm proud of you ... *smirks* now get rid of those bruises, or people watch us next date.
Ashley: Violent love, huh? Just kidding - loving me is a rough ride, you know?
Shepard: I know *sheepishly*

I'm fine with artistic license, for the most part, but every time I see a picture of Ash in the hospital I have to wonder how her face got so bruised. Sure, she would have gotten a concussion from having her head slammed against the shuttle. But her helmet was intact, and it was the back of her head, not her face that got hit.

I know, I know, they needed some visual representation of her injury, but still :P I guess it beats having bandages wrapped around her head.

Huh. Never thought of that.

Okay, I think I was a little hard on BioWare last night. They did a good job keeping Ash well… like the old Ash. They didn't want to tinker around with her character too much, and they didn't really need to. In ME1, her character was well developed and we knew who she was… a realist, traditionalist, fierce, loyal, a family-first type of girl. But I just wished she talked more, moved around a little. She needed that cut content rather badly. Even though, her talks about family are so boring when you replay… I'm glad we got that insight in to her life, anyway.

She's still the same practical woman as before, but we needed those dialogues that were in the script, and we needed to know what she'd been doing with the Alliance these passed few years. Seriously, Horizon has only got to be one of her many missions during that time. She is bound to have some crazy stories to tell, like James. I can't help but wonder what could've been if Bioware got another year at making this game.
