If you want my thoughts on the "S1" designation...

The "S" was intended to indicate she's a Spectre, because there was either poor communication between the writers and whoever was desinging the armor, or the writing team just didn't know at first that Ash wouldn't start out a Spectre.

Kaidan has Spectres emblem on his "pouches" suit. What I really like - emblem in subdued, so it's not catches your eye. good military approach. I'm surprised Ash wears "not swimsuit" without any resemblance of uniform or field gear. Plus those heels.

"S" wouldn't indicate Spectre status. Spectres aren't part of the Alliance military. "Spectre" is not a vocation in the Alliance.

And how careful with existing canon has the current team been in the past...?

That may have occured to them only after they designed the armor.

EDIT for top of the page Ash:

Ash: Ugh... Shepard, I know you said we can never have too many chili dogs...

Shepard: That's because we can't.

Ash: Yeah. Might have to disagree with you there, Skipper. Urgh.

From what I can see from the side, I kind of like the design for that Shepard's face.

A good male Shep face is hard to design.

Thanks ;)

I don't like his nose though; then again Dudeshep doesn't have any good options. Thankfully Rape Face Williams doesn't mind =]

Ashley: *thinking* Oh, when we get off this planet - I will TOTALLY rock his world....
Shepard: Something the matter Ash?
Ashley: No. No. I'm fine. Heard what I needed to hear.
Shepard: Good. Now let's get that tram over here. *Thinking* Why do I get the feeling that I'm gonna be raped?

My problem with custom Shepards is that I'm so used to seeing Sheploo in the Ads that if I see any other face, it just looks wrong.

It's only rape if he says no.

Ash is just... aggressive. LOL

Yeah, my Shepard could be bleeding out and I don't think he'd say "no" to Ash... Posted Image

... well, he didn't specific how he gets 'raped'. We all know how that mission ends, and that's a mindscrew in a half. If not for an unfeeling player, than at least for Shepard who let it happen. If he had shot sooner, concussions could have been avoided.

My Shepard would never say 'No'. He'd say 'Have fun.'

Actually, I wonder if Edwin Shepard could say "no" to Ash when it comes to just about anything non-mission related.

I guess, maybe, but he'd have a hard time.

Probably it's good that Ash doesn't seem like the type to ask for much.

While you're argument certainly has merit (given the mistakes the writing team made in ME3). It wouldn;t be hard to simple remove the S1 mark to reflect this fact.

She was already wearing the S1 designation before being selected as a Spectre. This means that the S ranks means something in the Alliance.

Anyone else notice the "wings" on her left breastplate? Does it mean that she's qualified for "jumps"?

The 'S' is like Shepard's 'N'. Its a designation of a specific proficency of officers within the Alliance Navy.... I used to have a chart on what they were, but S was recon, infiltration and groundside deployment if I remember right.

Besides, if Sheprad gets to parade his/her 'N7' around, why not Ash too?

That's what I like to imagine. Some kind of orbital strike designation, or something. Maybe they drop in pods! Posted Image

For all we know, it could even be a relatively new designation. We got the codex info on that stuff in ME1, and two years passed between ME1 and ME2. Could be that Prime Minister Shastri or someone decided to push for a new type of assault force or special forces in the Alliance marines, now that the Alliance was stepping up to a greater role in the galaxy.

Good idea for a fan fic would be the speciality were based on something the turians, salarians, or asari already did, and they sent people in to train the first class of Alliance graduates - which included Ash.

Oh, we already know what proficency the "S" designates? I thought we didn't

If we know, why is this an issue...?

S1 - "Orbital Deployment, Reconnaissance, Infiltration, and Assault Forces" apparently?

I'm sure if you tweet a Dev they can confirm this?

Its nice...but they list B code as "band". Pretty sure Ashley wasn't part of the band in ME1.

Band as in the Honor Guards and Colour Guards... I Imagine Shepard might be getting a few of those after the war.

Hmph. Well you never know. Posted Image

The thing I don't get is... why has she only got the "1" when she got promoted to L.C? Shouldn't she be higher than 1 with that rank?

What does the game say she does if you don't let her on the Normandy?

That should give us some clues. I mean - I'd assume Hackett would give her an assignment in line with her proficiencies.

No, because she's relatively new to the 'S' ranks. And the officer ranks. It's the level of proficency and experient a person has in that area. Ash is new to it and unexperienced. Her rank is 1. Shepard is the best N of a generation and has been one for at least five years, his rank is 7.

You get this e-mail if you send her with Hackett. I think it fits the bill.

From: Ashley Williams

Commander,

Just wanted to pass along I'm settling into my new post with Admiral Hackett. Too many things to get done - not a lot of rack time.

I'm starting to get a handle on the enormity of what we're up against. We get new intel everyday that needs to get processed into practical action. Turns out, I'm good at breaking things down to the practical. No surprises there.

All right, back to work.

Ashley.

Pretty lame, though.

Maybe the "S" designation has something to do with quick response or covert infantry.

And now that I've had to imagine Ash not being on the Normandy with Shepard, I have to be sad for a bit. Posted Image

I mean... I know it's technically probably better for her career. I think Edwin Shepard even feels a little guilty about keeping her on the Normandy and not encouraging her to go out and develop her career on her own. But he actually trusts her more than anyone else on the squad, and wants (even needs) her to be with him.
