As this story is a femshep with Liara I won't begrudge my fellow Ashley fans from not reading it but just wanted to share her intro to the story in The Shepherdess and the Questing Beast ...

______________________________________________________________________________________

It was another beautiful evening on Eden Prime as the Marines came marching back into their makeshift camp after a full day spent patrolling the outskirts. While the 232 were given the task of keeping the scientists and the beacon secure, the 212 had been shuttled off to secure the outside perimeters … away from the main colony.

The Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams slipped into her tent, grabbed her toiletries, a towel and a change of clothes before heading to the showers. One thing about Eden Prime was the showers were a step up from her last assignment. There the showers were made of plywood and built to resemble small stalls that required you to take a container of water ... So there you were with cold water and taking a ****'s bath at best. Here it was more like showers after gym in high school with no real privacy but it had running water … hot water even!

As she stepped under the shower head and felt the hot water dance on her skin she could hear guys starting to hoot and holler. She looked over at the window where a couple of her squad was peering in and making obscene gestures. "F**k off!" she hollered back as she flipped her fingers under her chin towards the idiots.

"I swear, they need to get curtains over this peephole window," Service Chief Krisia Nowicki said as she stepped into the shower with a ragged towel. As she placed it over the window the guys could be heard groaning and booing. "Ya! Ya! Go circle jerk somewhere!"

"A curtain? I'd prefer land mines at the foot of the window," Ashley replied as she squeezed Organik Brazilian Therapy Shampoo into her hand. She then lifted her palm to her nose to smell the coconut scent, "Thank you, Lynn." She knew that her mother and sisters spoiled her with the constant care packages she received. The packages not only contained sensible items but also sweets ... Ashley was a self-admitted sweet eater with a weakness for anything made with honey. A container of honey had been in the last package and she couldn't wait to open it after this patrol duty was over.

As she began to lather the shampoo into her hair she couldn't help but wonder if her transfer request to the SSV Kilimanjaro had been approved. She had not given up hope … not yet. She did not want to believe that she would be given backwater assignments her entire career … she couldn't believe that.

"Who brought the towel?" Private Nirali Bhatia asked as she stepped next to Ashley wearing a bathrobe still.

"That would be Kris," Ashley smiled, eyes closed and head under the running water.

"My husband thanks you," Nirali said as she removed her robe and then took the bottle of shampoo from Ashley.
"My next package from Samesh will have Sunsilk. You will like it."

"Is he also sending more Dharwad pedha?" Ashley asked as she opened her eyes.

Kris laughed, "You and those sweets! I swear Ash … if you lived near an Indian bakery you would weigh over two hundred pounds!"

"Look, just because you defended my honor, "Ash said in mock anger as she motioned towards the towel, "Does not give you the right to criticize my eating habits!"

"Oh my," Nirali said with a slight frown, "my husband would not be pleased to know that he is causing you two to fight."

"Are you kidding?" Kris laughed as she began soaping up, "Any man would love to know that he had naked, wet women fighting ov-"

"Stop, Kris," Ashley laughed. "You're embarrassing Nirali."

_____________________________________________________________________________________

One of the things that I like about her in this story is that she is being seen by others who would not normally give her a second thought and two review snips regarding her made me smile ... "And I like your portrayl of Ashley. I always thought she was kind of a b**ch in game." - "Ashley is already coming across as likable, honest and faithful."

Writing Kaidan and Ashley in the way that I see them as friends to Shepard has been fun.

Maybe one day I can write her romance with PV Shepard outside of the short Coffee and Pooh:(http://www.fanfictio...Coffee_And_Pooh)

I also lol'd at "night of passion" XD

That man speaks of experience, I see, I see.

Somehow I can see something different for Ash & Shep. They might not start with "uber-often" but frequently - and it won't die down that quickly (if at all). Think both remember what they had to go through for their love and keep it alive. In short: my imagination of Ash and Shepard is "in love for a lifetime" - they never go down to the "love" level - they remain on "in love". Which is pretty much an idealistic view on that topic - but one I'd hoped for my own relationship ...

Yeah. Let's keep it that way.

So... when they're both old and grey... you can still imagine them going at it like rabbits? Lovely.

To be honest, I really don't see it happening all that often as you think. They both work so hard, and they have to, with lives depending on the both of them. I can see them just falling into bed seperately, to exhausted for anything else. However, there's still gonna be times when Shepard's being all cheesy, trying to chat Ashley up and she just orders Shepard to... "Get over here." and the 'night of passion' begins, as they say around these parts. Posted Image

I can see a bit of both in their relationsip, long term. When they're busy and have lots of work to do, I could see them completely happy just being in each other's presence. Plop down after a long mission, just go to sleep. Nothing else needed. When they do have time, it'd be like having the kids out of the house for the weekend. They'd make the most of it, and even make time for romance as much as possible. At least my cheesy!Shepard would :P

Yeah, that's the way I see it, Lone. Don't mind, Data - he just likes to assume that Shepard and Ashley have the best sex life a woman and a man can possibly have. =P

Ashley likes to poke fun at cheesy Shepard, but ya'll know she loves it deep down. It's very effective lol

Thanks! The best thing about writing her just as a friend is that it allows others to spend time with her that normally would shun her.

Getting feedback that the readers are starting to see her differently always makes me smile ... I don't expect them to love her but at least try and understand her. See that she is a good soldier and very up-front.

Shepard was lucky to have Ashley in his/her fight against Saren ... Shepard was lucky to have the team as a whole ... Ashley, Kaidan, Liara, Tali, Garrus, Joker and Wrex.

Loved that crew! Posted Image

I wish we could get Ash's original writer (from ME1) to write a few scenese of dialouge between Ash and Thane while Ash is in Heurta Memorial.

Given that he was also Thane's original writer, I have to think the conversations would be on the order of "excellent."

Are you guys still playing ME3?

I enjoy the game but doing the 6 hours of war asset hunting is become more annoying than ending, I'm getting really sick of it. Why can't getting war assets be more fun?

Would you rather scan planets for resources?

A majority of the quest are go to citadel over hear conversation, scan random planet, return to citadel. So just scanning planets is far less of an annoyance

Agree ... I'd rather scan a planet in peace then that ME3 version of scan, run from reapers ... wait ... return, scan, run ... yuck!

I'd rather scan a planet and find a real mission that I have to do in order to recover a war asset.

Note that this is based on the missions being like the ones in ME1 and ME2. The N7 missions in ME3 just felt off, for some reason. I generally didn't care for them. I rarely mention it because I can't put my finger on why. But they just didn't feel like the N7 missoins from ME2 and the UNC missions from ME1.

Many older couples have a more "active" romantic life than you might imagine. I could see that being the case for Shepley, becuase I think they genuinely love each other, and simply aren't going to want to give that part of their relationship up.

It's only gross to us because we're young. We'll all be older some day, though... And wouldn't you hope for the same thing?

To my third playthrough I already remembered what's where. If you cannot or do not want to, scan, call Reapers, let them kill you - reload last save, voila, you in same system, without Reapers and know what's where. Only Asgard/Exodus was PITA for that style - there 5 drops, yet two pings wake up all Reapers. Pretty funny to ran away from dem cheeky bastards.

Maybe not like "rabbits" but still often enough. Besides that - how do we know how old people live in the 22nd century? Expecting a lifespan of more than 100 years, up to 150 years - well, I'm sure they're healthy most time. And a healthy life usually means an attractive appearance - even their 90y old may beat our today 50y olds - and they're still active *g*

Hell, I bet Hackett is still active. I'm a guy but I must admit that dude has something women may admire - and drive 'em into his lair ^^
(Yay! Bad word choice strikes again!)

In that case you have a point: as long as they're still doing their duty, they won't have much time for that. However, they will value every single night they have for themselves and ... yeah, that.

In short: they'll be active as often as possible, just to - warning, cheesy - celebrate their love.

Again: let's keep it that way. :)

No, I don't think that even in ME 90 years old looks like 50. Shepard might live longer, nearly 150 after Lazarus Project. But I think for others usual is 90.

Well I'm sure I read "expected lifespan of up to 150 years".

Just for the record: people of even the most advanced nation in our days can't expect a lifespan of more than 85 years or so. Sure, some get older, up to 120 years, but thats one out of a million or so. In 22nd century, I'm sure you see a lot of supercentenarians ...

From the Mass Effect wiki entry on humans:

Humans can live to about 150 years, and recent medical advances have eradicated almost all known diseases that afflict them. However, as humans only emerged on the galactic stage within the last thirty years, it is highly likely that the introduction of new technology into their society will greatly increase their average lifespan.

Given all of the advances quickly entering into human society, I would imagine that those who have access to them - as Shepard and Ash almost certainly would - would live quite a  long time and look much younger than their age (at least to us).
