As I said, all romances are good, Ash's is just more interesting, well, for me. =)

Virmire is actually one of the top reasons why I can't romance another character than Ash. If I had a fem!Shep romancing Kaidan, the very same reason applies:

I had to sacrifice one to save the other one. In my headcanon, Ashley and Shepard started to grow even closer when Kaidan died - to honor his sacrifice. In a way, their love is (also) based on a loss of a good friend. Breaking up would feel like betraying that friend.

It's a bit difficult and maybe even "creepy", but ... I like it.

Virmire is a big-game changer for my Shepard as well. It makes him realize some things.

I think that's when both him and Ashley stop playing, and decide that they have something real, and Kaidan died for it.

Ah, yes, if you starting new game in ME3, you may choose who died, Ash or Kaidan, and there was something like "Shepard and Ash/Kaidan became more closer to each other when Ash/Kaidan died."

Poor Kaidan. I really like him, but he has yet to live in any of my ME playthroughs.

Tali's the tech expert. The choice should've been between Tali or Kaidan. Ashley's just a grunt.

What's the matter Shep? Not trust aliens?

It's kinda sad that "extra super special bond" does not play a role in the game. Well, the entire VS plot (both sides) ends with Udina's coup and once you hit that one, there's no other purpose for them than "romance" or "friendship". 'though the "friendship part" does no longer exist for Ashley and is really weak for Kaidan.

Eh. We should have been able to use one of those marines from the Normandy bridge. They don't do anything anyway. They just stand there.

"Corporal Smith! Guess what? You get to be a hero today!"

Wasn't one of them carrying out the bomb anyway? Should've just tied him to it.

Well, you know you have a ship of Marines but only two of them are bomb experts: a biotic (when did he get explosives training) and a grunt (when did she get explosives training) - figures.

But don't try to find out that logic. If you had the option to sacrifice some random member of your crew OR Ashley OR Kaidan, would you pick one of the later one? Poor Corporal R. Edshirt. ^^

No, more like that.
Shepard: Alexei, you going to sacrifice yourself on Virmire, that all my friends could live. Detonate the bomb and fight Saren, and you should help the salarian group.
Alexei: Okay...
That's how he should die. :) Or Lerooooy Jenkins might be good for that role. =)

Any other marine other than Ashley or Kaidan wouldn't have lasted more than 3 minutes.

Jenkins died when the first enemy spawned lol "UGHHHHHHHHG!?" *DIES*

I just put it down to the confines of the game play ... in my headcanon, Shepard put each over the two different areas. Example: If I leave Ash with the bomb, a tech is left with her and she is making sure that he and the bomb aren't overtaken by the enemy. The same with Kaidan. If you return to the bomb you see the VS there as her team has been ordered to seek cover while Ash/Kai hold the line. The game has many moments for me where I have to add layers to what is there.

While the game may have restrictions my imagination doesn't so I just flesh those scenes out to have them make sense for me.

And each of my Shepards did use Tali on the bomb while the VS protected her and the other teammate was off with the platoon. It made more sense for me that way. Once the fight is over Shepard helps the VS as they stood watch over the bomb as Tali is told to get her butt on the Normandy. It works for me.

*cough* Lead writer of ME!reboot *cough*

Okay, right now no one can change Virmire but ... hell, BW should do a reboot. Without EA pointing guns at their head. And minus Mac Walters. I want the original ME writers back. L'Etoile is the first one who should get a new job. ^^

ME1 has the best story. A reboot would be awesome. Bioware need to hire back the old writers/creators though. The old writers had a large impact on ME2 as well. But damn, after ME1 & 2... you really saw the cracks. It wasn't the same, nor was Ash to a degree.

I'd still like to see L'Etolle do a conversation between Ash and Thane while Ash is at Heurta Memorial.

No, ME series is done, and if they start to change, it only would be worse.

My Shepard's reasoning was to secure the AA tower team. With that team secure (STG, Kirahee and Ash) we could make a push back to the bomb and secure it. Kaidan was an officer, I felt he could lead the men long enough for me to return...Then Saren showed up.

Win.

I wonder if there's any way to get in contact with him? It would be awesome to hear his thoughts on Ashley/Thane/Legion/Mass Effect endings.

I admire him as a writer. Clearly nobody else could take over well as Ash's writer other than him. She was his character, and it shows. Maybe if Ashley talked more, we might be saying it differently, though.

Would have been interesting if they made this an option - with the caveat that using the STG to get back to the bomb site means that you end up losing Kirahee and most of the STG team to harsh fighting, even as you get both Ash and Kaidan out alive.

EDIT: It would also only be available as an option if you do everything to help the STG during the mission. Otherwise, too many of them die, and if you try to fight back to the bomb site with the remaining members, there aren't enough left to help you make it back in time.

Well, I hope we can contact him. If we can pull the stunt with our project. I definitely want to see at least ONE harcopy handed to him with a dedication of Ashley's fans.

Just my idea ... but I really love to see that.

Actually, I simply want three copies:

One for Chris L'Etoile
One for Kimberly Brooks
And one for Bioware

Dunno if that ever is going to happen 'though B)

Also Chris wrote Thane and ... well it shows. He is a really deep character compared to others.

If he is unhappy with those things, I suspect he'd be reluctant to criticize a former employer and former co-workers.

Oh, yeah, sorry, looks like real name. Just strange to see man with name "Star". :)
