I wish they would have accounted for your scars if you imported from ME2 though. I didn't like how my face was all the way healed at the beginning of the game. I worked hard and pissed off a lot of people for those scars damn it!

Even my paragon liked the scars quite a bit and was bummed when they were completely healed. Ash had mixed feelings. Sure they meant he was alive and could keep living, but at the same time it reminded her of how he was briefly affiliated with Cerberus and more importantly how he died to begin with.
Gotta hit the hay, sleepy times.

'Daddy why is your face all weird...and red...and horrible looking?'
Actually I don't mind the scars Shepard has in that main picture of him for ME3 cause they are subtle but the ones in this pic freak me out:

Ha-ha, severe renegade Shepard.

He can get it fixed of course, but it's just too much of a hassle, and the post-war cleanup takes precidence. Afterwards, he would probably decide to keep it as a souvenir of the war

He's always had a little uncertainty over the whole "back to life" and "cybernetic implants" thing. It means a lot that Ash still thinks that he's "himself."

"run to mummy alot"
Lol!
I imagined this, kids scared of their own father. XD
Ashley: What you did again, John?!

My other Shepards, the more religous ones wanted questions that only the big guy on high could answer.
My current canon Shepard, he an answer he had been satisfied with long before the Cerberus mission, but hearing Ash affirm his identity was that final push he needed.

@Ushanka, Ashley might have to confront him a few times lol
Ashley: John! What did you say to David to make him cry like that?
Shepard: What? He was crying about his hamster dying and I just said he had to stop crying and move on cause s**t happens
Ashley: HE'S A CHILD! You can't be so blunt with him!
But I don't see this sort of thing happening, at least in my head canon, Shepard may have to be renegade sometimes but when it comes to his close relationships he isn't

I though Project Phoenix's focus was on Ashley?
Personally I saved both.
Both of these choices require Shpeard to put a lot of faith in the other party. But if push came to shove....Save the Council.
Why?
As bad as the Council is, for all intents and purposes they represent the combined will of the civilized galaxy. Removing them would create chaos as the other races scramble to find new heroes and lead to charges of regicide on the part of the Alliance. Plus whose to say their replacements would be more agreeable or won't hold grudges against humanity?
Even Vigil noted that the Reapers targeted the heads of government during their initial attack. Sacrificing the Council, while a costly maneouver, will grant the galaxy a stable governance as we prep for the Reaper War.

Where's filling in holes with ME3 as well. She has no opinion on anything in ME3, but she always reacted to Shepard's decisions in ME1. Part of what made her interesting.
Sacrificing the Council, for most of us, wasn't a calculated "get-humanity-on top" move, or made because we dislike the Council. It was a "we-need-to-take-down-that-reaper" move. The Alliance may not be able to if they have to save the DA from the geth. They'll lose ships and no one knows what fighting a Reaper capital ship is like, what it will take to bring it down.

Shortly after Garrus advises a full retreat of Turian forces from Palaven.
Ash: What are your thoughts on our progress, Garrus? Heard you're way up the Turian chain-of-command now. I'm sure you know things I don't. Have you assessed our chances?
Garrus: Yes... Ever play the lottery, Williams?
Ash: Yeah. My numbers didn't look lucky. Didn't win. Screw it. I figure I've got a greater chance of being struck by lightning than do of actually hitting a jackpot.
Garrus: Not a betting woman in any fashion?
Ash: No. Half the time the winners of those sorts of things are housewives who know jack about the subject or a three-year-olds who picks by color.
Garrus: Have any good luck charms?
Ash: Nope. All gone by the way of fat Sam.
Garrus: Shame.
Ash: What are you getting at, Garrus? This analogy is going somewhere good, right? After all, you're a gambler. You take chances. Turn crapshots into credits. You'd corner a cardshark into a game of poker and come out on top.
Garrus: Straight answer... I think we need a whole lot of luck swinging in our favor at just the right time to win this thing.
Ash: Now's not the best time to practice your poker face, Garrus.
Garrus: Now's not the best time to upset lady luck, Williams. At this point you should thank your lucky stars for every bit of grace that comes your way. Save it.
Ash: I've already upset that apple cart somehow, Garrus. In the three years you've known me you've never noticed the mysterious black cloud hanging over my head? Eden Prime. Horizon. Mars. The coup attempt. And that's your strategy? Gather up our luck? Save it for a time when we're really going to need it?
Garrus: It's what I'd advise.
Ash: Are things really that bad? What about the armada we're raising? The Crucible?
Garrus: Our fleets simply can't withstand an ardent Reaper assault. Palaven proved that. Our offensive forces were being decimated. The Crucible is our best chance, but it's more than a shot in the dark. We don't even know what it will do.
Ash: You're taking it out of the equation altogether?
Garrus: No. But if push quickly comes to shove, I'm not sure we can rely on it.
Ash: You'd rather rely on lady luck?
Garrus: She's saved my boots from the fire twenty times over. She's earned my trust. So make your peace with her, Ash.
Ash: Easier said than done.
Garrus: You've got incentive.
Ash: Leaving things to chance isn't my style.
Garrus: Not mine either. Not in war. I prefer to crunch numbers, not play the odds. But when you've been dealt a bad hand in cards, you rely on luck. Similarly, when you've been dealt a bad hand in life, you lean on your strengths and hope for a break or two along the way. It's not perfect but when the deck is stacked against you, when the game of life is rigged up worse than any Quasar slot machine you've ever seen, you leave some things to chance.
Ash: There's always more to it than that.
Garrus: Certainly. But you just might hit the jackpot if play along.
Ash: I'll get hit by lightning first. I know it.
Garrus: You never know. You just might turn a crapshot into a victory.
Ash: We're tougher than this. You make it sound like this is gonna be a barn burner. A blow out victory for the Reapers.
Garrus: I never said we didn't have a chance. In fact, we have a very good chance. At least better than any previous cycle. I just don't know if that will be enough. Soldier's bravado is useful, but it won't do us any good if it's the only thing we have. Against the Reapers we should arm ourselves to the teeth.
Ash: I get what you're saying. I just don't know about luck. Haven't we got anything else?
Garrus: [pause] My sister, after she escaped Palaven, sent me this rare token. It's a Turian symbol of luck and prosperity. Wishing on it grants the wearer the protection and grace of the spirits. It's just about the last thing I would give credence to, it's almost childlike, but... I appreciate the thought... She reminded me longshots can indeed make it to the finish line.
Ash: [pause] Your sister and I would get along. Yeah. Faith can still beat the odds... It's what Sara, my baby sister, reminded me of back on the Citadel. She said it's how Mom, Abby, and Lynn made it off Earth when I asked her about their escape. Faith beat the odds.
Garrus: Blessed and highly favored? Rest on that then. Pool together your goodwill as we pool our resources. Very soon this war will test our luck and beat up on our faith. Lean on whatever or whoever you can.
Ash: Garrus...
Garrus: [looks at Ash]
Ash: Deal me in.
Garrus: [nods] I'll put in a good word with lady luck for you and... Spirits be with you, Ashley.
Ash: And God with you, Garrus.

Not to discredit anyone else here, because they're all great, but your dialogues are always the most fun to read. =)
