Maybe I'll meet you there then.Naw, It'll take a while before I'm out there. Gotta convince the fam first.
One member of my family lost his arm in war, and then My mother's close friend's son died out there not too long ago.
I wonder if there's lots of Ashley's out there.... hmmm.. Worth investigating at least lol

About the whole "Pathfinder" designation/role, whatever it is. It makes me think of the pathfinders in the U.S army during WW2. They was regular Army>Rangers>Airborn Rangers>Pathfinders. They would deploy in the opposite order. Pathfinders drop in small numbers behind enemy lines, sneak to the actual drop point, and set a beacon. Then the paratroopers would drop in greater numbers, like shock troops. Ya, a bunch would get shot before they landed, but that's why they threw so many at the enemy. Aftey they secured a beachead, the regular army would move in. Now just imagine all that with ME tech.
My point being, that would make Ash pretty damn elite. First on the ground! And ya, I can see some friendly rivalry between Pathfinders and N7 commandos. Different roles though, and I don't see any reason they couldn't work together.
PS: this is all based off an interest in military history that has long since died down. I could be misremembering a bunch

No, you're right. The Canadian Forces have Pathfinders, but it is really hard to get into, just like the special forces. Its pretty elite, but it is one of my goals to do the course in the future (if I get the jump/airborne course at all that is).
I can also defiantly seeing the S1 designation involving the Alliance equivalent to Pathfinders...say S1 to S5 is basic orbital shock troopers, for traditional "airborne" assaults and recon (such as Survivor has mentioned), and S5-S7 is the Pathfinders. Ash could have set her eyes on becoming a Pathfinder, but only got past S1 before ME3.

Are you in the US?
If so, good luck. It's such crap nowadays, makes me wish I was born a few years earlier. Back when they ordered the troop surge in 2006 it was easy as hell to get in. But now that the military is getting cut, MEPS pretty much has a stick up there ass and are turning away people for even the smallest reasons. Please vote in November... lol

Ash agrees!

Dude, tell me about it. I got turned down because way back a doctor misdiagnosed me with something, she admitted it, got another doctor to verify that, and they still turned me down. My grades are phenomenal, my PT scores near perfect (though to be fair, the Army PT test is a joke), and I get DQ'ed over a condition that I don't even have. **** that.BP93 wrote...

Initially I was kinda going for the pathfinders thing with the S1 designation. Focused more on the shocktrooper aspect though (you're welcome to your own interpretation).
Yeah the Pathfinder designation with the Canadian Forces is one the most difficult to achieve though. Earning it grabs the attention of the reece companies and CSOR.
I imagined the N program representing the amalgamation of all of Earth's special forces and paratrooper traditions. I'd imagine the CF Pathfinders making their influence within the program.
Other than that eveyrone ok with my attempted S1 designation explanation?
