I don't get it either from that interview. All we know is Kimberly recorded new lines. Either some cut content returns with the DLC, OR Shepard's LI is speaking the last lines in the game, remembering him/her as a hero and peacekeeper and whatnot - dealing with the fate of everyone and everything in the galaxy.
OR there is a new scene reuniting Shepard and LI, but that one has the smallest chance to happen.

I read the interview as well, but without more detail we don't really know what they plan to do. However, we already knew that BW wasn't planning on changing the endings. It's something many of us want, but they stated when they announced it that they weren't changing anything other than offering explanation for the scenes that were shown and maybe some epilogues.

I heard they were not planning on changing any endings or having additional play and in some way I can accept that. All I want is what most people on here keep saying and that's a reunion but I suppose it's very doubtful. Would they put that extra scene for just one of the 3 ending choices and even then for only those who have enough EMS? I can't see it unless they choose to give all people who chose destroy the scene when Shepard breaths and then is reunited with his LI. I do think that particular dream is a stretch too far...alas

It may be disappointing but I wouldn't let it get you down. We still have people who write great fanfic (admittedly better than some BW writers) and we still have other fans to interact with about a series we all love for our own reasons. Hopefully in the future BW will take greater care with how they handle their games and the way they write them.

Well actually it was some of the fanfic around here that helped me move on after the ending of ME3 cause I was very confused and annoyed. I must have spent hours readings different Shepley fanfics many of which I thought were excellent! Very talented people around, BW could learn a thing or two

I agree completely, I finished reading fahRENheit2006's Shepley fanfic on the ME fanfic page. Loved it.

I enjoyed that one as well, most are really good. Don't know about mine, it's new but still getting my storyline ideas set up. Want to make it interesting, as well as eventful. Anyone can suggest ideas, trying to build character profiles for both Ashley and Shepard. Just a little stuck... Writers block I reckon.

The rain was ferocious, even for Kahje. Blinding sleet swept across the exposed walkways and landing platforms, making the aesthetically pleasing titanium footpaths as slippery as mud.
 
But for the two women on Pad C, the rain was the least of their concerns, and the footing only mattered insofar as they could use it as a tactical advantage. They locked together, each one struggling to gain the upper hand as they fought. Both had arrived with weapons and backup. But this fight was theirs alone, their firearms gone and their fireteams raging through the rest of the facility behind them.
 
“Bloody…Alliance…****!” The taller woman snarled as she broke free of the other’s chokehold. “Why won’t you just…die!” Drawing on what was left of her energy, she hurled a weakened ball of biotic energy at her attacker.
 
The small ball of dark energy threw the other woman back, but didn’t send her toppling into the sea below. Instead, she rammed against the pole of a guard rail, crying out briefly in pain, but momentarily safe as the biotic staggered back and dropped to her knees, her own vitality sapped by the display of power.
 
Still panting with effort, the shorter one, clad in dark black fatigues and grey impact plating, got back on her feet. A drop of blood from a cut on her face dripped onto the blue Alliance logo on her chest, momentarily defacing the symbol before the rain washed it away. She drew her knife, holding it backhanded in the typical style of Alliance Marines. “Takes a lot more than a little shove like that to kill me.”
 
“You don’t’ say?” The other woman, dressed in a form fitting jumpsuit of pure white, rose to meet her, unsheathing a long bladed stiletto, keeping the blade forward in a duelling pose. “You should have taken my offer to run for your life, Williams.”
 
The Marine’s voice was as hard as tempered steel. “And you should have stayed at home, Vandergrift.”
 
They wheeled closer to each other. The chase was over, and soon the hunt would be decided. They stared at each other and for a brief moment they froze. Because they understood, at that very second, that for all their skill and cunning…for all their training and experience…only one would leave the platform alive. The bolt of fear rooted them to the deck for what felt like eternity, green eyes meeting brown as their grips tightened on their weapons.

also would like to point something out before we get depressed about the EC:

Bioware at the end of the day is still a company. They wouldn't want to release an EC that would make players so dishearted with the franchise that no one buys anymore of their DLC. True some individuals within the company might hang on to their banner of "artistic integrity", but if Bioware wants to sell DLC they're going to have to give us incentive to play it.

as the KB interview, as far as we know very little was said about the EC. For all we know it could still be a WIP. Sure we have a reddit leak, but leaks can get it wrong from time to time.

Perhaps it be best to hold our judgement concerning the EC until it comes out.

Just a note. I've got the first chapter of 'Duet Effect' up. Its a POV story similiar to 'A Song of Fire and Ice'. It starts almost immediately after the Normandy's first approach to the Citadel.

Ashley isn't in the first chapter. It's from my Fem!shep's POV. Next Chapter will be Bro!Shep's and Ashley is definitely going to be in it. Its going to keep cycling between the various characters.

While she's probably not the best "source" considering she's not a writer, Jessica Merizan was sort of hinting that this would be possible given you chose the right ending (red) and had enough EMS on Twitter awhile back. If they just do a "funeral speech" I think it'd just ****** off more fans than they already did. They need to include at least one small, happy ending.

Well, Shepard survives in one ending. So even if there's nothing hinting the reunion of Shepard and the LI, we still can headcanon one, We know what the LI doesn't know: Shepard lives.

The whole idea of head canons is a very new one to me because I have never ever played a game before that I felt the need or want to make up stories or ideas for what happens to the characters that the game doesn't show us. Maybe it's because I was never a big RPG fan before ME and was mostly just into first person shooters and so I was never as emotionally involved with the other games.
But I think we do need a glimer of hope for the head canons because if Shepard is dead then well there is nothing can be done about it but if we have a small ray of hope then everyones head canon is perfectly acceptable and there is no reason for people to not believe what they want. I just need some happiness in the EC to help my head canon and then I can imagine whatever I want and I'll be happy.

I'm pretty sure she had her "third happy ending" off screen while we were watching something else. Our the fourth happy ending. How many nights do they have between the "date" and the "night before the battle"?

It's 12:18 am in south australia, I should be in bed but my girlfriend gets home in twenty minutes. Playing mass effect 2, well the intro. Hoping to take forever on purpose but somehow, I plan to play one mission and end up playing half the game somehow.
