Demonique is right; while the male body models in games can and do appeal to women, they're primarily designed to appeal to men who want to look that way. They usually don't show gratuitous butt shots or crotch shots of guys in a game unless the makers of the game are trying to make some kind of humorous point. Look at how Miranda was treated to know that women are still targeted as sexual objects and that video games are still heavily marketed towards males.

Miranda got the worst treatment in that field. She got reduced to her ass - period.

Ashley got a better treatment - facial shots are showed more often (DEM LIPS anyone?). Still - she got some "enhancements". What I really don't get: why did someone in BW team decide to give Ash a boobjob? She's an athletic woman - and they usually have smaller breasts than a "standard" woman.

Maybe I'm no ordinary dude, but I like "smaller sized stuff" a bit more than super-XXL. Ash didn't got huge twins, but she definitely got a big C instead a normal B in ME3.

Hmph. In ME3 Ashley's breasts looked so ridiculous in her blue armor... Too big. She's shows up on Horizon pretty much flat chested in comparison, then WAM! Bioware pump her up for ME3.

Isn't her optional armour in ME2 (DLC one) changes that?

Speaking of - why almost every woman in game have HUGE half-face lips? Why not those smaller/thinner/cutier ones? Don't say Chakwas please!Posted Image
Sometimes I even think Ash donated her lips to EDI.

Liara got same treatment, IIRC. Not sure for femShep.

I sort of wondered why they would make such specially...fitted armour for females in the 2100s. I mean female soldiers today don't have armour with those shaped breast plates. And yea Ashleys sem to protrude quite a bit

Yeah, but Rudy. You have to pay to give the girl sensible armor? Nah, man. That doesn't fly with me. It's pointless anyway. Since everyone gets the Miranda catsuit and ass shots forced on them in 3 if she's alive, and you don't ignore her.

No, I ran through ME3 with my FemShep, and her package is nothing like Ash's. As if BW would sex up FemShep's bust that much like Ashley's. They don't have the balls to try it with that group. That would be like a big disrespectful wet slap to the face of most female players, I imagine. And do you know how hard they could come down on BW? Big rage party. I suspect most of us would be grabbing the popcorn for that one.

Someone out there on the internet said if you play multiple play throughs of ME and never play as a femshep then clearly you are a sexist, even if you're a woman (I didn't get why but my feminist alarm was going off). I just couldn't bring myself to play as femshep cause I couldn't romance Ashley. Think Aurora said something along the same lines.

Example I think you have a point, don't think the femshep players and fans would be overly fond of their character being cheaply sexualised for no real reason. Maybe some guys would but probably get alot of complaints.

I only have one FemShep playthrough where I romanced Kaidan. Playing back on his romance makes me want to throw up now -- he had far more to say than Ash. It took a while for me to play as FemShep, and even yet, it's not something I'll go back and replay anytime soon. Shepard's a bloke to me.

Damn right they wouldn't. But if BW suddenly decided to give FemShep some of their classic "sex appeal" then I assume things would catch fire around these parts. Many women would probably feel that there isn't a need for it - and there isn't. There isn't any reason I can see, that would explain them pumping up Ash's chest for ME3 other than to please the men.

I have heard alot of reports that Kaidan gets alot more than Ashley in ME3, seems a bit unfair saying as they should surely have the same things to say and they should have been treated the same by the writers. But I've come to accept Ashley gets screwed out of alot in ME3 so I'm starting to accept it a bit more...doesn't mean I'm not annoyed by it but sadly it's just something I have to live with, wouldn't be surprised if EC is similar

In case you're wondering, Kaidan got double the content. In the game, he gets longer and extra scenes than Ashley. Search youtube and just compare their romantic goodbyes on Earth that'll give you a rough idea. He also gets extra dialogue branches, too.

Ashley: Coup > Drunk scene > Memorial wall > Date scene > Sex scene > Short goodbye scene.
Kaidan: Coup > Biotic students > MIA father & mother > Talks about the TIM & Cerberus > Romantic dialogue on the Normandy "wake me" conversation > Date > Love scene > Long goodbye on Earth.

I'm probably missing something. But he does have more.

What a bollocks. I wonder is this a further way showing BW rushed ME3. Maybe Kaidan's character and scenes were finished long before Ashleys so he gets alot more content while Ashleys seems so rushed alot of the time.
Don't get me wrong I like Kaidan, I think he's great, but saying as I saved Ashley BWs treatment seems a bit like a slap to the face

I'd say they rushed Ashley, period. The amount of Ash bugs and glitches is annoying. There's one in every scene except the Mars and Earth mission. I'm guessing they had more time to polish those ones since they're at the beginning of the game. If you're in ME1 romance with Ash you get no engineering dialogue as well. It's not a "Kaidan" bug, it's an Ash one. Which isn't going to get fixed, because they can't do it via a patch. The only way they can fix it is with a DLC.

To rub more salt on the wound Bioware have said that if they ever make a love interest DLC - the VS won't have content. Yeah, bet they won’t exclude their favourite space babe Liara though. And she got her very own DLC in ME2....

It would fly with me should we have different ME3, really. I was planning to buy Kestrel and "silk lingerie" as I dubbed those "clothing" DLCs after I finish ME3, but now I just see no point in spending my money on that.

Well, I'm on the same side here, MBE: Ash is a rush-job and it shows. That's all.
'though I doubt BW is going to fix her. It won't happen, our fandom is not big or loud enough.

*shrug*

In a way, I don't care anymore ...

Ash is a rush-job. Yet they still cut most of her sh*t out.

Our fandom is big. Loud enough? No. Considering half the fans either split up or left because it was the end of trilogy, remember? Most people got what they wanted. Now, BSN is mostly filled with complainers wanting more (including myself at times).

Not caring is a good thing, if you ask me.

Yeah. Ashley's story is written and finished. Until I get my ass moving, writing my fanfic, no new stuff is going to happen for her on my end.

Period.

At the moment, I feel my energy is needed somewhere else. I'm just waiting for the EC and then ... yeah, guess it means "goodbye Ash"

Everybody's story is supposedly written and finished. After the EC, it's set in stone. Whatever we get -- that's our closure. Like it or lump it. =(

However, there is some hope for a change. KB has been recording for the EC and DLC. I don't know what will come of it though. Maybe they'll cut that, too?

It's not the same company anymore. I hate BW. I'll need another site to do my posting as soon as EA start charging me monthly to post on their forums. That'll be the next of it. Anybody got any other good sites? lol

I imagine once the EC comes out it'll get alot quiter around here. At least when people had other games to come they hung around but since the trilogy is over and when the EC is released then that's it...game over. I hope some discussion of Ashley will continue though

That's the problem, we know it's the end. Ashley's journey has come to the end. I'm going to miss her one day and I go back and play the entire trilogy, I'll upset over everything again and I'll cheer my Shepard on again, only to watch him die multiple times.

Well I'm just about to get the romance scene again cause I'm now onto attacking the cerberus base. But before I do I'm gonna use my 2 free days of gold membership so I can get my EMS high enough this time for Shepard to live and then head canon kicks in. After that if I ever play the trilogy again I'm adopting DWHs approach to the endings and am gonna finish with Anderson and TIM.

That's basically it. People know it's the end, time to move on, ME is finished, that's why it's quiet around here. The people that are here are *mostly* all complainers looking for more. I know, I am.

Despite how utter crappy the endings were, I'll be keeping the ME trilogy for life. I'll make my kids play it when I have them. I'll force them to romance Ash as well, just like I forced my cousin and brother. It was a funny moment when he saw Ashley getting bashed against the shuttle. I told him he failed the mission and Ashley died because of it. He said, "F**K that! I'm going back to the start then." Then he quickly realized that she wasnt actually dead, she was still alive. He was one happy pup. Gotta love tricking family.

Well I haven't played ME3 that often actually Example, I've played the other 2 games more but haven't yet finished those trilogies by playing the 3rd. Each one I play different so in a way each one is a different trilogy to me except romancing Ash, that I have to do. But I find ME3 too emotionally draining at the moment. But when I get Shepard to live this time I'll be happy and a small part of my grievences will be appeased. If EC doesn't give me the reunion I want I'll make it up.

Example I tried doing the same with my friends that you did with your family but they were stronger willed than I wished and they all went their own way, mostly Liara sadly so they all tell me how great she is and I am the only one defending Ashley lol

I have to say as well I got the crap scared out of me doing the Sanctuary mission on Horizon. The bit when you turn on the lights and all the husks run around outside. I knew something happened at that part from the first play through but I thought a banshee came up to the window but when it didn't i relaxed a bit so wasn't expecting it when a husk jumped up. I honestly jumped out of my seat! Felt like an idiot afterPosted Image
