Ah, jealousy at its finest. Isn't it funny how people immediately bash Ashley instead of bashing Bioware? It is after all, their fault that they forgot him.

And...one person said one nasty thing about Ashley, the rest of the remarks were about how we never see Kaidan in marketing.
I love Ashley, and I'm glad to see her as a squadmate in ME3, but I'm always going to miss Kaidan when she's in marketing and he isn't. I understand why we (obviously) can't have both, and I know why Bioware is almost always going to go with Male Shep and Ashley as "defaults", but it's natural for Kaidan fans to wish he was included.
Honestly, if it were the other way around, would you want Ashley fans to be labeled as jealous and haters, just for wanting to see her with the rest of the team?

I saw more than one hateful comment in there. I don't know why they're upset because when it comes to who got the better and bigger content... Kaidan clearly did. BW know what to do with him, can't say the same about Ash now.

Don't start nothing, won't be nothing.
But, yeah, I also saw more than one spiteful comment. We don't do that here. We don't trash Kaidan as a character. Most of us would love to have them both on our squad.

I have always said I would LOVE to have both in ME3.

Honestly, I'm coming at it as someone who's pretty disappointed in the game in general, so I try not to say anything at all, usually, about ME3. I do wish we could have had more of the ME1 writers involved, especially Chris L'Etoile (who wrote Ashley), but he's presumably working on Elder Scrolls Online with Zenimax Online now. I don't want to be negative about the new writers, but it seems like certain people got a bigger priority than others, and I hate to say it, but I think that Kaidan's status as one of the only choices for both Straight FemShep and Gay MaleShep got him more content. So, while I'm happy for Kaidan fans who are happy with the romance, I am still bitter about a lot of other things in the game, especially the non-existent friendship dialogue between FemShep and Ashley.

Let's put an end to this potential flame war right now. I posted this in the Kaidan thread and I'll post it here. This motto has served me well:
Don't start nothing, won't be nothing.
But, yeah, I also saw more than one spiteful comment also. We don't do that here. We don't trash Kaidan as a character. Most of us would love to have them both on our squad.
Eh...I wouldn't speak for anyone in either thread, the moment you say something like that, ("we don't do that here") someone comes along to prove you wrong and make everyone look bad, sadly.
The way I look at it is, I don't love every Mass Effect character. I won't bash them, even in threads that aren't their own support threads, but I won't pretend to love them. So I'm not going to begrudge others their own opinions. I just ask people to try to have empathy and understand that it's really unappealing to go into another character's support thread and see your favorite character being bashed. There are some character threads I'd like to participate in, but I feel unwelcome because it seems like my favorites are universally hated there. I'm really glad that the Ashley and Kaidan threads generally don't do that.

I don't like how one of our frequent posters comment was taken out of context and slyly posted in the Kaidan thread to fuel anti-Ash sentiment, however. That was certainly uncalled for.

That may be true of other fanbases and we have had difficulty policing Liara hate in this thread in the past, like everyone else I'm sure, but we don't bash Kaidan. I can't remember that happening here. Ash and Kaidan share a wavelength as the VS. We don't trash him.

Besides, if on Virmire I had to chose between Ash and the rest of the squad, well, I'd have to hire another turian BFF...

Anyway, I wonder what's in store for Ash in the EC. Can't wait to get her epilogue. Hey, if Liara fans get blue babies, then I want Shepley babies to raise on Earth lol

Ashley is alive.
Shepard is alive.
LA(living Ashley) + LS(living Shepard) + RS(reunion scene) = I like the EC and will buy all the downloads!
Seriously, showing the characters alive and then not reuniting them would just be cruel...

Youth, I was joking about the flame war you know lol. I didn't even post in the Kaidan thread. I just flicked through it and saw the ladies (and guys) there, hating on Ash... Something about her having boobs, being a cow, and being a trollithan...? Lovely.
Anyway, I wonder what's in store for Ash in the EC. Can't wait to get her epilogue. Hey, if Liara fans get blue babies, then I want Shepley babies to raise on Earth lol
Yeah, I know you were only joking. But hopefully, our fanbases will never come to
I think there will be Destroy ending reunion beyond that I can only... speculate. The beings of light theory on the Catalyst is really interesting though.

I now leave these threads (even Ash/Kaidan/Liara threads) when it starts. Character bashing only makes the poster look ugly. Now if people talk about how the character relates to the other character in their headcanon I'm all ears ... just hating on their personal perception of the character? Time is to short to waste on that kind of dialogue.
Just my 2 cents though.

Shepard: Wait a second, you're just trolling me aren't you?
Starchid: Yes. My role in the citadel is to troll everyone. Why else did you think the most advanced elevators in the galaxy were so slow?

Comparing characters has never made sense to me as they all have different stories to tell ... Liara was just as limited in ME2 as the VS but in one mission ... one ... she stole that game or at least people talk as if ME2 was all about her. It's quality not quantity that matters.
Liara's fans have complaints, Ash's fans have complaints, Kaidan's fans have complaints and all are pretty valid until they start comparing the different stories and bashing the other character because "its not fair!"
I wish that Ashley had more time with Shepard, more dialogue as a friend and lover ... I also wished that she had been opened up to FShep ... I also wished that she had a DLC of her own and not mish mashed with Kaidan ... they are not the one and the same character dang it!
But none of these complaints have anything to do with Liara or Tali or Garrus or .... etc. etc.

(Obviously that impossible as the entire trilogy would be different and probably more awesome)
It was going to happen originally, there is audio of it.

Shepard: Liara, guard the bomb.
And problem solved.
I'm assuming her plot armor would keep her alive.
