That would've been cool and would've tied things together well. I really liked how they handled Conrad Verner if you took the paragon route with him along with all of the collectables from ME1. They managed to tie together four or five semi-unrelated side missions from ME1 and even added a couple extra points to the war effort.

I agree, being on Thessia more than likely would've opened more doors for Liara dialogue. I don't dislike Liara but she did get too much interaction with Shepard.

Well I think you are being very harsh on the game. It isn't as good all in all as the other 2 in my opinion but it isn't as bad as you're making out Rudy.

I'm not harsh. I just state all goofy things filling that game. Nothing more.
You don't care about military, rank, uniform, armament, any character that not Ashley - I do. I want to know how fast that "something big" approached to Earth and how fast those "Whole colonies" went dark. I want to know what the **** my Shepard was doing all those 6 months since last time I saw him and why the **** he is in custody? One of my Shepards had no plans to return to the Alliance at all - they didn't even tried to give him proper burial.
I want to know who is ****ting me - Liara or some other source, claiming that Shadow Broker worked against Reapers, but tried to sell Shepard's body to Collectors. I want to know what the **** is wrong with game economy system, because Shepard resurrection costs 2 mln credits, while single Kodiak's price 3 mln and, if SR1 drive core costs 120 bln credits, then each fighter core costs 10 mln and, if SR2 drive core is thrice of SR1's size, does it costs 360 bln and if yes, how come Shepard's resurrection at cost of 2 mln was hard hit on Cerberus' funds - comparing to SR2 price it's not even ****ing pocket money! And if SR2 was that pricey where the **** they got all those money to build whole damn fleet and do that in such ways so Alliance intelligence slept this over (should it be renamed to Alliance Impotence then?)? Or, Citadel Coup - According to Pallin, C-Sec personnel numbers were 300K. Okay, let's say Sovereign attack decimated them to say 200K (still pretty much for Citadel's population). Now someone explain me how Cerberus got their army to Citadel while no one was even able to sent distress call? And, if attacker should have 3-5 times more manpower than attacked, how's the hell they were able to ferry all that amount of troops? Even if there was just 100K of Cerberus troops - how? They not Geth, they cannot pack themselves, they still need to breathe, if not to drink, eat and, "expunge" products made after eating and drinking. And Cerberus also ferried Atlases and Mantises.
Oh, and I haven't mention food and water, unless Cerberus was going to pillage local stores for them.
Of course, I remember that data from closed room with Talon about several assassins and some "insider". If they were able to disrupt whole Citadel Security - somehow I'm not sorry for them.
Should I continue? Martial law, for example? Where is it?

Dannycni wrote...

To me one main way it falls short is the character interaction, and as an Ashley fan (and in an attempt to keep this on topic), I obviously wish for more of her but alas it wasn't to be.

For you it's just Ashley. For me - it's many other characters, who was added just for show.

Dannycni wrote...

Rudy with most of your suggestions you'd turn a 40 hour game into a 10 hour game!

It's 20 hours game. Less then 19, if play on Narrative. Not sure for skipping cutscenes, some of them aren't skippable anyway.
So if we can give twice more interesting and immersing content, I gladly trade long and boring for short, intensive and interesting. Like I said, I like Jack's short presence much more than long Liara's. Because Jack feels like alive. Liara just walkie-talkie. Doll. Robot. Placeholder. Not person.
I had no problems with Witcher 2, or Fallout New Vegas for being "shorter" than they could. Oblivion (Morrowind) pretty much have one ending and I can't say they any better. Gothic 1-2, formally had 1 ending, but several sub-pathes leading to it, Gothic 3 formally had 3, but they were quite similar, at least some process of getting them was different. And it was longer than ****ing 40 metres ramp!

Not just couple - whole 4 points!
Somehow that's reminds me of cheesy military anecdote.

Rudy do you mean it currently is a 20 hour game or your suggestions would make it 20 hours? Cause my games have been twice as long as that so far.

And yes for me it's Ashley BECAUSE THIS IS THE ASHLEY THREAD! WE'RE SUPPOSED TO TALK ABOUT ASHLEY!!!
Plus how do you know what I care about or don't in the game? Ashley is not the only character I like, I love them all but this is the wrong thread to talk about all the rest of them!!!

It is currently 20 hours game if play in Narrative (since only big game will give you trouble, all others could be disposed in one-two headshots from Valiant regardless of difficulty, Indra mopping up everyone pretty much fast with IEA as well, minus Phantoms, of course, unless you lock them in stasis first).
And I don't know how longer my suggestions would make game, haven't calculated that. But most non-plot missions could be solved in 10-15 minutes (N7 and alike, like Tuchanka's bomb), plot missions are longer, usually due unskippable cutscenes and relatively long runs (and since distance and speed are about the same every time...), IIRC Genophage cure took about 1 hour, regardless of difficulty, since first Brute isn't that dangerous alone and during last fight it's easier and faster just to ran pass them then to fight them.
Looking for resources on Galactic map isn't that difficult, especially if mention I played game 5 times in row and haven't forgotten what's where.

Yeah-yeah. Ashley is part of game. Game isn't good. Far from it. I gave you lists of facts why I think that way. You disagree on that?  Fine. We're not in the Army, and you not my CO telling me it's apples, not soman, I can live with that. I think.

Well you are wrong, you say I don't care about any character that isn't Ashley. That is just plain wrong, simple. Clearly I don't care about some other things as much as you do but I feel there is something slightly ironic about playing a sci-fi game and complaining about slight inaccuracies.

And why would you play an RPG in Narritive? Sort of defeats the purpose but I'm sure I'm about to hear an explanation why it isn't. Otherwise the game can be a 40 hour game

Plus what do you mean hiding behind Ashley? She isn't here. But that doesn't change the fact the old Ashley Williams thread got shut down because it was off topic, and this isn't the correct thread to come on and list every little complaint you have with the game.

Hah, yeah, we do get off topic a bit. In my defense, the posters in the other threads often end up annoying me, so I mostly just hide in here and end up talking about off topic stuff sometimes.

To make up for it, have an Ash pic:

Watching Deep Space 9 on DVD as I post in here. I know at least one person has Ash as a sci-fi fan in their head canon, but I'm not so sure I see it. It's too... I don't know. "Nerdy" for her.

My head canon does have Ash and Shepard both liking cheesy action and horror films, but that's partly becuase they like to laugh at them. I think in general Ash is more of an "active" person when it comes to her hobbies, though.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the discussions and I don't think a few comments that don't contain Ashley are gonna get us shut down cause I think the vast majority of our conversations are grand but every now and then we need to make sure we don't competely lose focus like I'm sure both myself and Rudy could find it very easy to do Posted Image

I'll through out an Ash pic too:

Would love for something like this to happen. I can see Ashley pull the gun, and have Garrus stop her just like Morpheus.

And now I am watching the scene with the Architect...sooooo ME3 ending.<_<

It will be nice to see more of Ash in the EC, but context matters.

If the only thing we get is Ash at a memorial service, I'm not sure I see the point. If I want to be depressed, the endings as they stand do a fine job.

Well my hopes have been raised slightly cause I'm feeling they are bound to include something with Shepard if he is still alive in your game I mean if you have gotten the breath scene then surely they can't just ignore that. Even if it's not a reunion if I see him alive I can make up what happens.

Nice pics Arban, I think that middle one is a really cool pic.

Hope its not to rude if I post a small excerpt concerning Ashley's training in order to achieve the S-badge. Kudos to this forum for the reviews on my excerpts. Chapter 2 coming up next week. Please check out the link in my sig, to see the rest of the chapter.

“Kill him, Williams.” Behari whispered into Ashley’s ear as she sat in the corner of the fighting ring. She remained silent, focused on tightening the sparring gloves that covered her hands. Behari remained behind the ropes, standing behind her and trying his level best to encourage her.

“No chance of that” Ashley Williams muttered back as she sized up her opponent. Clambering to her feet she faced off against her opponent. The two of them faced off in the ring that was assembled in the hall of their barracks. Around them recruits sat on whatever seating they could find as they watched their CQB instructor face off against Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams. From the corner of her eye, she saw surreptitious bets made and coins trade hands amongst the initiates.

Her opponent was the scarred, older Lieutenant Adrian Cornelius whom served as ORA’s CQB trainer. Cornelius was old enough to have fought in Shanxi and deadly enough to have survived it. Rumour had it that he had fought in the Skillian Blitz, lead the assault on Torfan, survived a Thresher Maw attack and was the first human to sleep with Sha'ira. A wistful smirk crossed Ashley’s face as she remembered Shepard’s confused visage when the Consort had hugged the commander and her own burst of jealousy when confronting the Asari.

Pushing those memories from her mind, Ashley attacked first, launching a flurry of attacks, jabbing at his neck and sides. In return she received a solid knock to her midsection that sent her back reeling, clutching at her stomach. Raising her head she regarded her opponent, whom now wore a disdainful grin.

“The problem with you Williams is that you’re soft,” her opponent taunted, his strong Scottish brogue echoing in the cargo bay “You couldn’t knock the skin off a rice pudding”

That earned him another series of attacks as she futilely attempted to penetrate his defences. Another knock at her midsection sent her reeling back again and this time the Lieutenant raised his fist to deliver the mother of all haymakers.

With almost cat-like reflexes, Ashley dodged under his powerful swing. Taking advantage of her opponent’s exposed core, she delivered a series of wild jabs at his ribs and side. Not letting up, she finished her attack with a powerful swing that slammed into her opponent’s face. The shock of the impact ran up her forearms and into her shoulder, as the wet smack of flesh resounded through the hall.

For a second the Lieutenant was suspended in the air, like a ragdoll freed from its strings, as the force of the impact lifted him up, as if Heaven had called his name. Then he hit the floor with an ominous thud. Silence reigned in the cargo bay as the onlookers were treated the rare sight of the Lieutenant Adrian Cornelius; graduate of the System Alliance Close Quarter Battle school, master of at least three different martial arts, lying completely still.

“Oh crap.” Were the first words out of William’s mouth as she regarded the prone Lieutenant. Court-martial, crap postings and a dishonourable discharge were just a few of the scenarios that ran through her head. Then Cornelius groaned and stumbled to his feet.

Blood trickled down his noise and an ugly bruise had already begun to form on the right side of his face. A snarl began to form on his face and his vision narrowed down and focused on Williams.

“For Chrissake Williams” He growled, ignoring the gawking stares of the onlookers “When you knock your opponent down, you finish the bastard, instead of just gawking like a poodle!”

EDIT: Have adjusted the setting so that non Deviant Art members can read it as well. Please rate, review and scubscribe.

This is really good.

One small thing, one that's deep into "nitpick" territory: I don't think coins are used very much, if at all, in the Mass Effect universe. Even small monetary transactions are done via credit chits.

The fact that they've adjusted the EMS needed for the breath scene gives me a small glimmer of hope. It might mean there's extra content for when Shepard is alive.

On the other hand, it could also be them responding to a complaint among fans who want to get the breath scene without doing multiplayer. I refuse to expect much, especially when by Tuesday I can (hopefully) come in after work, browse through this thread, and find out what the EC means for Ash and Shepard.

The sad part is, even if I can get a reunion with Ash through the destroy ending, the ending will still be something of a sh*t sandwich. I get to see Ash and Edwin Shepard togehter, but at the cost of everything I worked for with the geth.

If I'm going to accept the ending choices, which I honestly hate doing, I have come to think that destruction is the "least worst" option. I feel bad for the geth, but long term I don't trust Shepard to stay "Shepard" with the control ending, and I simply despise synthesis, both because of it's implausability and because of what it would do to the galaxy.

Technically coins are accepted for transaction within planets. Plus I'd doubt the recruit would want a trackable credit to reveal their betting.

Thank you for reading and stay tuned for chapter 2

Yea well control does seem to be the best of bad choice. It just always seems right to me simply because how bad the other choices are. But I do feel bad for the geth, especially if you've got them to work with the Quarians and help you fight the Reapers just to kill them.

In regards to Ashley I really hope there is something, even a small reunion would do me ok. In one sense I wonder if they will include it because up till now he was only able to survive one ending and even then only if you had the EMS so it would seem easier to me if they simply forget about it and do a general Shepard epilogue and then say the crew just don't realise he's alive. Plus it seems alot of extra effort for an free EC DLC. Plus what does KB syaing her lines were 'easy' mean? But I hope I'm wrong and as I said I've already got my hopes up

What makes me decide whether to download it might ultimately be the content that's added between Cerberus HQ and the Star Brat. I suspect there's a very good chance I may not change my policy of refusing to even listen to the Star Brat portion of the game, so any EC content after Anderson dies I might never see anyway.

10 minutes you say. Is that actually how long they've said it'll be or is that a guess? Cause I was thinking with the amount they are saying they are going to include I thought it'd be maybe 20 minutes to half an hour long, seems like alot of work for 10 minutes

I thought it added about 10 minutes per ending. Which would be a total of 30 minutes.

Also, I read in one of the other threads last evening that supposedly everything from the Cerberus base onward is "extended cut territory."
