Again, it was just an initial thought I had during the game. To me, the Normandy coming down to rescue two buddies so Bioware can fix its original plot hole just seems forced and nonsensical. That is my opinion, it is neither right nor wrong. However, since it offers a amazing and sappy Ash and Shepards moment, I can live with it, just like the rest of the EC.

This I totally agree. No need to search for other plot holes, EC helped me regain my peace, and I'm okay with that.
But, one of you guys gave an example of the simplest explanation - because defending the beam was more important than taking down the Normandy. Lol, that's brilliant, and I'm on it.

There we are. Right here, somewhere on a jungle planet in the middle of nowhere. And it seems as if everyone is expecting me to take command. Well ... I did. Had a briefing just minutes ago. The good news: the ship is still intact. No hull breaches and the engines are still working. Our Tantalus Core got a dent or two but that's it.
EDI is ... I don't know. The blue box shut down the moment we got hit by the shockwave. Her body stopped to work and ... and I think something killed her. "Killed". I'm talking about her as ... shut up Ash. She was a friend, a close one. Despite the fact we had a rough first meeting, I got used to her presence. She was the soul of this ship and now since she's gone ... everything feels empty. The Normandy doesn't feel right.
Can only imagine what Joker feels now ...

Adams told me the Normandy needs just minor repairs before lift off. Might take a few days, up to a week. Well, we've got Kenneth and Gabby too, those two are amazing - they can fix her within a day.

Well ... and there's something different. I planned to have a small ceremony for those we lost. Time to add two new names on the memorial board. Two more friends I won't see again.
But ... I don't know about the second name. Some part of me tells he's still somewhere out there, waiting for me. I can't believe he's dead. He won't leave me alone a second time. And ... if there's a chance he made it, then ... then I'm sure he's looking for me to return one day since I took his ... his ship. I took Skipper's ship. And it's my job to bring her back home, her, my crew ... even if it's only to see him again.

"God ... that's awful. Computer - delete the last recorded file." she said. The computer didn't react, just showed a request: "Specify file to delete." Ashley groaned: "The LAST recorded file. Log_XO_Williams_Entry#38102 - got it?" The computer accepted the request.
"I miss EDI ... I really miss her." the new commanding officer of the Normandy thought.

Don't worry Example BW are releasing an Ashley DLC like they did with Liara in ME2, should be out by the end of the summer! It's gonna include loads of sappy dialogues and a great reunion scene.

Must say I -really- love playing with Ashley mourning over EDI's death. In my second playthrough I frequently used them together and they became "battle sisters" - Ash deeply cares for EDI and EDI got the concept of friendship from her. Maybe I'll write a flashback-dialogue of that one later ...

I saw it on YT, MBE. Can replay the endings to get it on my screen too, MBE.
Well, I'm not looking for the "saddest experience", just for one I can work with to get my headcanon running.

And for now Ash is mourning over EDI's death. It's the only physical death she had to witness after the war, she can only assume Shepard and Anderson died. While her heart tells her Anderson died, she's not sure about Shepard. You know, lovers, soulmates and such - that's how it works. Part of Ash is not ready to accept his death and -knows- he still lives.

I just realized that if you brought Garrus for the beam run and Ashley says "I love you"... boy, that must've been an awkward moment if Garrus never knew about you two. I can just imagine him doing a double take.. LOL

Who's writing up a reunion story? I neeeeeeeed one. Can anybody even imagine their reunion? I can't. Probably very emotional and passionate, like most of their scenes. Except this one will take the top spot by FAR, I'm sure.
