Oh thank god! That was getting quite ridiculous.

Way too quiet in here. Okay, Ash questions:

1. I keep seeing cut scenes on youtube where she's in red armor. Is this a download, or someone editing things on a PC?
2. Is there any cool Ash dialogue on the from ashes mission? Since it's eden prime and all? I want to finally buy that now that I don't hate the endings, but I'm not sure if I want to do it right away so I can have Javik to troll people (esp Liara) or if I should wait till Ash gets back.

(I just posted this on the story board, but since it involves Ashley, i thought i'd show you guys and would really like to hear how your Shepard spent the rest of his days with her. Assuming you picked Destroy of course)

So Shepard lives and is implied that he's found and reunited with the Normandy. How he spends his future however, was left for fan interpretation. So in order, what were the first 5 things your Shepard did when he recovered? After weeks of recovery, my Shepard went on to do the following:

1. Reunite with the Normandy crew and organize a memorial service for Anderson and Shepard's friends/comrades that died. This occurs in a very large cemetary being built specifically for those who died in the final battle.

2. Request and hold a summit with leaders/ambassadors of the united races to discuss what I learned from the Catalyst and the dangers of Sythentics. Though organics will heed the warning of Tech Singularity, they will remain optimistic about it given the actions of Edi and the Geth. The dangers of organics being wiped out by Synthetics in the far off future is at a minimum.

3. Maintain control of the Normandy and aid the races in rebuilding the Galaxy however I can, and if need be, stop any threat that's leftover from the battle. At this point most of my squad have gone their seperate ways. James joined the N7 program. Tali returned to the Migrant Fleet to continue her duties as an Admiral. Garrus returned to Palavan to help rebuild, though remains a close ally who I still frequently see. Javik put his old comrades to rest, but remained on the Normandy as it gave him purpose in this cycle. Liara continues her work as the Shadow Brokers and uses her resources to help rebuild Thessia, and advance the galaxy. Ashley, remains on the Normandy as 2nd in Command and retains Spectre status.

4. Hold a meeting with Miranda to discuss a renewed Cerberus. With my help, her knowledge and some resources from the Shadow Broker, Cerberus is reborn. Unlike the old organization run by TIM which strove for human dominance, the reformed Cerberus run by Miranda, serves as a shield for humanity and eventually builds a positive reputation within the Alliance.

5. After about a decade of service, I retire early to a beautiful home on Earth, start a family and grow old with Ashley.

1. It's bonus armor from the Collector's Edition.
2. Yes. You can solve your predictament if you already have a complete playthrough finished. Just load up a save after you've acquired Ashley on your squad and head out to do the Ashes DLC. Most of the dialogue is on the shuttle en route. Once you've satisfied your curiousity, you should be able to get Javik asap on a new playthrough (it sounded like you were about to start a new one).

Edit: Here's an image of the bonus squad armor from the Collector's Edition.

So I finally did the full extended cut (I had only loaded from the citadel before) and I had a couple of thoughts:

The Normandy evac with Ash is very touching and did make me cry just a bit. She really did want to see this through to the end with Shep.

Also, it made me realize the other reason I can only pick destroy. Don't get me wrong, the reapers are genocidal maniacs and they have to fall. That's reason one. But along side that is that I don't want Shepard to die. Not because I don't want my character to die, but I don't want him to die for Ashley. She deserves to have him come back. She already lost him once, I couldn't stand for her to lose him again. Forever.

It kind of reminded me of the season finale of Doctor Who this year. The Doctor is begging River to let him die so that the universe can live (it's a long story, but him living is destroying time. Also she has to kill him). And she says she can't because her suffering would be too great, and he asks if it would be worse than the rest of the universes, and she says yes. And you can see it in her face that she means it. It's a great scene.

And that brings me back to Ashley and why I have to pick destroy. If I was Shepard with no attachments (say a master chief type) I could easily do control to spare the geth/edi (synthesis is still too gross), but shep isn't attachment less. And as much as I don't want to hurt them, the suffering losing shepard would cause Ashley is so great that I'm just willing to sacrifice synthetics to prevent it. I just am. He has to come back to her. HAS TO.

Wow, I'm way to worked up about a video game character. It must be late :)

@DWH1982: From headcanon, Ive always seen starbrat as a damaged AI, who, like all technology, has simply become degraded over the eons and countless cycles of Reaper harvests. Perhaps he was the first advanced AI of a intelligent species, who rebelled against his masters and transformed them into the first Reapers (*spoiler*If I remember correctly, he says something similar along those lines anyway.) However, in this conflict, he became damaged and his memory warped, thus forming his logic of technological singularity and harvesting advanced civilizations.

Also, I just watched the Destroy ending on Low EMS...and now I'm depressed. I knew it was a bad idea.

That's how I see the starbrat too based on the comments he makes - the creators seemed have planned for the AI/starbrat to be there to facilitate peace however since the starbrat is intelligent but lacking organic emotions came up with his horrible 'solution'. Kind of reminds me how in 'I, Robot' the robots started killing humans to protect the humans from their own destruction nature since humans are a danger to themselves. Messed-up logic indeed.

I was watching a friend play Mass Effect 3 and he just killed off Ashley, he doesn't hate her but he isn't fond of her character either, according to him it was an accident - he visited her in the hospital but he always choses renegade dialogue choices so I don't know if that lead to her death. Even though he was shocked that she died he doesn't care that much because he's only played ME2 not ME1 so he's never seen the good side of Ash, he sees her as someone who died because she didn't trust Shepard enough. Sigh. As much as I appreciate the fact that Ash doesn't just blindly follow Shepard I really wish dislike the way Shepard CONSTANTLY has to tell her that he isn't with Cerberus, surely once should be enough? :?

I also finished the full extended cut (finally) and liked it. I chose the Destroy ending because is still the best ending possible. The Reapers must die for what they did and there are non other choices, in my opinion. The Destroy ending is just the only one that give us a hope to rebuild everything, together with other people (humans and aliens together), without the need to choose the Control or Synthesis endings. And most important, in the Destroy ending Shepard is still alive and he can be back with Ashley. Ash can not loose him again and this time they can stay finally together, forever. This is a real "hero ending". ;)

I have to say, for what I saw in the EC, now there are all the explanations and the ending is finally completed with other cinematics. Mass Effect is still the best sci-fi saga ever created.

My first five stations? Well, if I won't ignore my headcanon / fanfic idea here, so it might involve some light spoilers. Don't worry ... nothing serious.

1. Ashley took command over the Normandy after crashlanding on the planet. It took a few days to repair light damage before lift off. After two weeks of constant FTL travel, the Normandy arrived at Earth.
Shepard survived, but was kept in an artificial coma since the severity of his injures. Also most of his cybernetics need to be removed since they were no longer working.
When Ash met Shepard for the first time after the war, he was awake already.

2. Memorial of all fallen friends. Ashley got requested by Admiral Hackett to say some words about Admiral Anderson since Shepard was still not in the condition to do it. Also the crew remembered the fallen who protected the galaxy by their sacrifice.
Ashley got promoted to Staff Commander and official CO of the Normandy.

3. First plans of rebuilding primary Mass Relays were made. Estimated time to rebuild the entire network was more than 200 years, but connecting the homeworlds would take less than a decade. Shepard never fully recovered from his injuries and resigned as field officer but kept his Spectre status. He took the position as an ambassador of the Alliance as well and the Normandy became his envoy ship.
Most of the original squad of Shepard got important positions helping to rebuild the galaxy.

4. Shepard received a message from the Shadow Broker: Haelstrom Sun went to a supernova. Also several other stars started to show similar signs of instability like said star - including Sol. The amount of dark energy in the galaxy had doubled within a year.
Ashley tried to convince Shepard to save the galaxy one more time, but he didn't feel strong enough for such undertaking anymore.

5. Five months after the Haelstrom incident, Shepard vanished without a trace.

It doesn't sound like there's much room for the dark matter plot with what they have now. I want to see what direction they go with future DLC before I come up with many future head canon adventures.

I think immediately after ME3, Shepard is in stasis because he wsa beaten up so badly. No one even realizes it's him at first. When they do, Miranda is brought in, because she's the most familiar with the implants keeping him alive, and she lets Ash know.

With Miranda's consultation, the doctors know what to do to get him stabalized after he's out of stasis, though he still spends about a year in painful recovery.

EDIT: Although the fact that they completely abandoned the whole "unstable stars" thing annoys me. Couldn't they have just said it was a Reaper weapon or something? Or maybe the geth where experimenting with destabilizing stars, and it could have been worked into the quarian/geth missions.

Actually I think about rewriting parts of the last dialogue and reduce the Starchild to a VI that's part of the Crucible / Citadel connection. Then again, I hate retconning parts of the game so ... maybe not.

However, the base for the dark energy plot is set and I'm going to use it as next threat. This time it's something where guns don't help. And the Crucible won't help either.
Just thinking about a role for Ashley and Shepard ... and some guys you won't expect might return as well.

Well, I like that plot since it provides a challenge - how to end it without running into a DEM, and of course, how to make it a threat you can use for a long story.

After all, I can't keep the guys reading if it's all about Shepley sex. Not even Ashley fans ^^

wait until the christmas sale. Thats when all the dlc and games usually go on a discount.

Just a heads up you won't get the red and white armour from downloading the From Ashes DLC. Instead you receive a "ninja" like outfit with some rather spiffy eyepieces for Ashley. It makes her lethal and sexy too!

Dark Matter....its almost as bad as the "yo dawg" starchild shtick. RIght not with the "yo dawg" shtick its a lot more easier toimagine the Reapers as giving themselves increased stature cos they belive that they're the best solution (Starchild straight up admits that he forcefully "reaped" his creators)

Dark Matter storyline breaks all storyline continuity.

Also I wonder if there is a correlations between LI and ending choice?

- Ashleymancers: Destroy?
- Talimancers : Synthesis?
- Liaramancers: Synthesis? Control?

I don't get it why the dark energy plot damages the story. It was, from what I got so far, a plot that originally was planned as the main purpose of the Reapers. Well, that's no longer true, but the remaining parts of the dark energy plot are still there. Why can't I use them and create a new plot that has nothing to do with Reapers and such?

Just asking.

The other question:
Nah, I don't think certain mancers prefer ONE particular ending. I saw several Ashmancers with love for Control and Synthesis as well.

Wrt to Dark Energy
- It makes the same mistake as the "Yo Dawg" thread. It arbitarily changes the motivations of the Reapers in the third act. The only reference we got was a throw-away line by Tali.
-  The overarching theme to the ME series is self-determinism against the galaxy. Whether it was using the pre-existing tech or creating new ones, organics have self-determined their fate in the galaxy and will suffer the consequences for it, good or bad. The EC manages to reinformce this aspect (albeit throught the destroy ending)

Wrt to LI and ending choice
- Oh..I kinda figured Ash would be kinda pissed if I decided to genetically rewrite her DNA without her express permission. Starbrat admits they tried it earlier, but it didn't go down well.

Survivor: I'm planning to use the dark energy plot not the way BW had in mind first. It has nothing to do with the Reapers anymore, they were not aware of that issue and they are not part of the solution. It's just ... well, I want to solve the Haelstrom issue :)

Besides that ...
No, Igib. I won't resurrect OCs from Aurora and won't make Ashley and Traynor bi for threesome love in elevators just to please you. *g*
But I could write myself as OC in the plot and flirt with Ashley until ... no. No, no, no. Wrong.

Problematic if Shepard were to find out. Could cause physical harm. Emotional torment. *deep breath*....Implications unpleasant.

Read my status.

And that Ashley, despite not looking exactly like Ashley, is sexy.
