*squad looks at Star Brat in disgust*
Ash: You've got to be kidding me. This IS a joke, right? Stand back, kid. The adults have real work to do, and if you bother us, you might get hurt.
Javik: In my cycle, we threw insulant little brats out the airlock.

Ash: Skipper, I love you. Thank you for coming back.
Shepard: Shh. I said I would, didn't I? I'll always come back to you, Ash.

Ash would have taken the highly skeptical stance that Shepard should have taken with the StarBrat, not wanting to listen to his BS. And as soon as he mentioned the Destroy option, she would have said, "Ok, there we go. Destroy. C'mon, let's blow it up." When Shepard said "Wait, he says there are other options", she would have said "Destroy. Now. Move it, Skpper." He'd say "Yes ma'am" and that would be that.

Haha, if Ash had been with him at the space baby she would have had her A-game B*tchface on. It would have scared that f*cking kid sh*tless. She'd threaten him with a spanking and send him to his room.

Shepard: God thanks you were with me, Ashley. Otherwise - I'm not sure if I could have taken down the illusive man.
Ashley: Not to forget saving Anderson.
Anderson: I'm glad you two made it to this point. And now ... ?
Shepard: I hit the button but nothing happened. The Crucible isn't firing.
Anderson: Maybe we need to do something different ... something is missing?
Ashley: There's nothing we can't solve with a good ol' gun. Make room!
Shepard: Ash - no!

Ashley shoots the console. Suddenly, the floor is moving and all three get transported to a higher level.

Starchild: You are not supposed to be here.
Shepard: Who ... who are you?
Starchild: I'm the avatar of those you call the Reapers. You are the Shepard. Who are the two ones with you?
Shepard: David Anderson and Ashley Williams. Why are you here?
Starchild: Controlling the Reapers, be their guide. They're my solution to end the eternal conflict between organic and synthetic life.
Ashley: That's nonsense. How can the Reapers be that solution - they ARE synthetics and they ARE killing organics.
Shepard: Ashley is right.
Starchild: Without the Reapers, a civilization may advance to a point it is able to create synthetics more powerful than their creators, destroying the creators and any other lifeform in the galaxy. The Reapers are here to prevent this, they're the solution.
Ashley: Still nonsense. Seems the Reapers are what they try to prevent - the synthetics being more powerful than their creators. And they're destroying everything.
Starchild: We leave the less advanced species alone and allow the more advanced civilizations to ascend in our ranks in Reaperform. Everyone is preserved, not destroyed.
Shepard: I rather keep my own form.
Anderson: We want to shape our own future. The Reapers are taking our future and replace it with their own. It's not our wish to become a Reaper.
Starchild: The creators of the Reapers thought the same. They became the first Reapers. You must comply. It is not our wish to use violence to assimilate your species into our ranks.
Ashley: God, I simply can't listen to that brat anymore. Skipper - do something.
Starchild: However, you're here. And that means the solution does not work anymore. We need to find a new solution. There are three: you can destroy the Reapers, but that also means one day you'll create synthetics that may destroy you. Or you can pick ...
Ashley: Thanks. Guess it's the right side?
Shepard: Don't you want to hear about the other two solutions?
Ashley: No. Dead Reapers - that's how we win this.
Anderson: Hackett told that too, Shepard. We must end this, here and now.
Starchild: Hold! You must learn about the other two solutions!
Ashley: Shut up, kid. Adults are talking.
Shepard: Technically, that boy is a billion years old or something ...
Ashley: Who cares? He's a kid. Now lets end this nightmare and get home. I have enough of his nonsense.

----

Hackett: The Crucible is firing. Everyone - pull back. Retreat to Rendevouz Point Alpha!
Liara: Jeff - we must go.
Joker: ... damnit ...

*Ash and Shepard are walking along the beach*

Ash: Careful there. If it’s too much, we can use the crutches.

Shepard: Yeah. I don’t need them.

Ash: Does it still hurt?

Shepard: A little. Not as bad as when I was at Heurta. Or when I started physical therapy.

Ash: The doctors say they’re amazed by your progress. But then… They don’t know you as well as I do. No one who does is surprised that you’re up already.

Shepard: I’m like you: Not a big fan of sitting around. Speaking of which… Isn’t it about time we start our own “workout routine” again? *kisses Ash*

Ash: *laughs* You’re like a machine! You’re not even fully recovered. We can do our “workouts” when you’re cleared by the doctors.

Shepard: Those doctors don’t know what I really need to recover… *kisses Ash's neck*

Ash: Sorry, no – wait for the doctors to clear you. And focus on our walk. Don’t want me to have to tell the doctors that you couldn’t do the entire thing, do you?

Shepard: Come on. We’re on a beach. It’d be romantic.

Ash:
It’s broad daylight, and it’s cold.

Shepard:
You’re no fun. I think those doctors indoctrinated you.

Ash:
Yeah. Uh huh. Love you too, Skipper.

I agree. This picture would be pretty much perfect if it had, Garrus, beers and a baby Krogan.

But I have a feeling the beaches don't look like that anymore, folks lol

Destroy is the best of a group of sh*tty options.

I think what bothers me most about the destroy ending, though, is that the sacrafice by EDI and the geth isn't voluntary. It just happens.

The other characters, Thane, Mordin, etc, died voluntarily, usually in a heroic sacrafice to redeem themselves or advance the war effort. Would have felt better if destroy involved convincing EDI and the geth to sacrafice themselves that way.

Not sure how that would work, or how the hell you'd convince all of the geth to do that, especially after they just gained complete sentience. But it would be one final, awesome f*ck you to the Star Brat - "Hey look, not only are synthetics our allies, but they're WILLINGLY sacraficing themselves to save us by killing your godd*mn Reapers."

Well, actually, nearly everyone of Shepard's friends would pick "Destroy":
(With quotes fitting to them, some made up by myself)

Adm. Steven Hackett: "Dead Reapers, that's how we win."

Adm. David Anderson: "It always has been our mission to end the Reaper threat."

Lt. Cmdr. Ashley Williams: "Give me one good reason why you want to keep them, Skipper. One. Just one."

Major Kaidan Alenko: "The Reapers are burning down our worlds. Don't let them go away with this."

Flt. Lt. Jeff Moreau: "I go with whatever you say, Commander. Just end this war."

Miranda Lawson: "The illusive man was wrong once. I don't believe he can control the Reapers and I don't want you trying it. It could destroy you, Shepard."

Liara T'Soni: "You are Commander Shepard. You always looked for a way to stop the Reapers. It is now your chance to do so."

Urdnot Wrex: "From this day on, the name "Shepard" means "hero". Not just to us, not just to the Krogans, but to everyone. It was a honor to fight side by side with you."

Garrus Vakarian: "There is no heaven for the Reapers and they created hell for trillions of beings. Make me proud, Shepard."

Tali'Zorah vas Normandy: "Destroying them is the only way to save my people and to honor those who lost their lives in this last battle."

... and so on ...

Think the only two opposing the destruction ending are EDI and Legion and even those two would understand why Shepard had to pick it.
There's not a single squadmate believing in the "Control Ending".

The way I see it, unless you choose destroy, you have pretty much failed your entire mission. Haha.

That's not a trolling or a judgement on choosing the others. It's just. For three games you were all about destroying them, then suddenly "oh I can only half do this job? Cool."

And Ash is all "where's your follow through, Skipper!?"

It's sad losing EDI and the Geth, but in the grand scheme of things I felt like that was the smallest loss.  I don't believe for one second that everyone will ever be happy rainbow best friends or even necessarily accept their sudden "ascension" in synthesis and control is....well it's just creepy.  haha

Also, who is to say the star brat isn't lying through his teeth about everything?  I mean WE know he isn't based on the epilogues but Shepard doesn't know it as he's standing there.  Only way to know for sure is to kill 'im.  The only good star brat is a dead star brat.

:)

Didn't Star Brat also say that Shepard would die in destroy?

Except, he doesn't, at least if you have a high EMS. So, either Star Brat doesn't know what he's talking about, or he is, in fact, lying about some things.

I personally think the crucible doesn't have to destroy EDI and the geth. I just think the catalyst has some control over it, and he MAKES it destroy them as well, just to be a dick.

Actually, the destruction of EDI & the Geth is the only real downside of "Destruction". I guess BW added that downside to make this ending not more favorable than the other two that allow EDI & Geth to exist.

Whatever - Ashley demands the destruction of the Reapers, so she can tell Shepard to quit saving the galaxy and "sail my boat, Skipper"

LOL too funny. Okay, I lied about everything I said before. I only picked destroy so Shepard could continue sailing Ashley's boat.

*Breathes in & out* That felt good to finally get off my chest.

Which is why it feels forced and stupid.

EDIT: Also, I'm curious - why is it wrong to pick destroy only because you want Shepard to reunite with his LI?

Part of ME is determining the narrative for your Shepard and his/her story, at least within the framework Bioware provides. If you feel that narrative works best with Shepard surviving and being reunited, then I don't see why it's a problem to pick the ending that allows for that, and to construct your Shepard's reasoning accordingly.

Same thing if your narrative demands that Joker and EDI remain a couple more than Shepard's survival. If that's what you feel works best for your story, pick one of the endings that allows it, and don't let anyone tell you differently.

EDI's death bothers me a lot in Destroy. However at the same time, she said she was willing to "die" (or be rendered non-functional) to save the crew. I think the reason it bothers me so much is that Joker finally fell in love and I went and took her away from him.

Another reason why I don't let Joker get it in.

I'm so mean. What's that saying? Being cruel to be kind? IDK.

I will still miss EDI, though. I was surprised to learn that she was that AI on Luna. It was a... HOLY CRAP moment. :)

I'm imagining Shepard saying this when being removed from the rubble.

Soldier: Holy sh*t he's not dead!
Shepard: Ah yes, "death".... *cough* I have dismissed that claim.
