No Mac Bashing. THat's incredibly off topic, Also Mac's been there since ME1 and he co-wrote ME2 with drew before he left and finally took over for 3 which is damn near GOTY. I say that because Ashley seems to have got neglected. I'm doing another ashley alive playthrough and she has less dialgoue thatn Kaidan by far. It's almost as if they just stopped writing her and cut straight to the romance, also they cut out the conversation where She asks Shepard about the Afterlife.

Mac 'Terrible Writer' Walters isn't even a real writer he is that kid who got into the crayon box and started writing and drawing stuff and you told him its good so they don't cry.

Yea well that does sound a bit unfair, surely the VS should be treated the same yet once again BW brush over Ashley and focus on anyone else but her

Just you wait until you see who gets the short end of the stick again with the leviathan DLC.

Mark my words.

What romance content is supposed to be in the DLC anyway?

From what I read, I'm guessing just Zaeed-style dialogue. With a little battlefield flirting, or not... depends on the love interest you have. More than likely Ashley won't get the lengthy meaningful stuff. That'll go to Liara, Garrus or Kaidan.

*le sigh*

You know how it is.

I specifically didnt take Kaidan for the bomb mission to avoid the dialogue about Ashley. Guilty conscience is already guilty enough.

Oh, you know. When EA took over they packed their bags and left.

After playing back through ME1 & 2, I noticed the writing standard has fallen in ME3. And I really wish Chris wrote Ashley in ME3. I doubt they would have made the same careless mistake with the rank structure also. They bickered over every little detail when it came to the writing.

I feel guilty about killing Kaidan like how I felt when I cooked my frozen pizza at 451 degrees instead of 450.

Here's something to remember when doing a 'military' sci-fi RPG: actually know something about the military and how it works, instead of just creating something on the fly, and throw it all out the airlock by the third game.

There are no Sergeants in the Alliance, but there is a dead one in the beginning of the Mars mission, cause Ash and Kaidan mention him when they notice that he is lying on the ground dead!

Duet Effect Chapter 3 is up now.

The chapters are short, I admit. But Progressively, my goal is to get them at least 200-300 words longer each time I post.

I don't understand, or have patience for, Kaidan hate anymore than I do Ash hate.

Just saying.

EDIT: As for the ranks - as I understand it, there are very few writers left who were around for ME1.

Consistency tends to go out the door when that happens. You'll often see the same thing with long running TV shows.

Part of me hopes that ME3 really is the last Mass Effect game, because story quality has declined with each installment. ME3 had its moments of brilliance, but overall it was a very mixed bag, and from a "Mass Effect" stand point, probably the weakest in the series.

@DWH1982: Same here. I really liked Kaidan. I remember when I first played the Virmire mission, I sat there for 20 minutes trying to decide who to save. Of course I went for Ash, but leaving Kaidan behind stung. I never want to lose anybody under my command.

What about that Alliance dreadnaught in Vancouver? LOL

I can overlook that, it's the ranks that annoy me.

I'm more bothered by the dreadnaught, to be honest.

Also, does anyone remember when the Normandy needed a shuttle because it was too big to land on most planets? Now it seems like it lands on planets all the goddamn time.

You know what you're missing out on... THE FEELS.

Sometimes when I look at Kaidan in ME3 it feels like he's an impostor. I stop and ask myself, "Did I really do that? Leave Ash on Virmire?"

YES I DID!

I noticed that as well, in 3 the Normandy can land all of the freaking time. Not only that, nobody (especially the Turians, who are supposed to have the best military in the galaxy) uses any form of strategy against the Reapers. No breaking formations, no multiple cruisers or dreadnoughts focusing on one Reaper or any thing of the kind. Granted, the Alliance's reinforcments at the Battle of the Citadel in the first game was pretty sloppy too.

The guy that does the Tasteful, Understated, Nerd rage videos on youtube does his final video on Mass Effect. He goes over the EC and he gives us all permission to ignore the endings and head canon whatever we want.

Half of my games have Ash as the VS and Kaidan the other half. The only thing I can't relate to is having all of the characters romance the exact same person over and over and over and ... over. =p

I've been wanting to make a Duke Nukem Shepard to romance Ashley though. Was waiting on the EC to see if it was worth doing a ME1 to ME3 game again. I understand why they ended it the way they did, but the implication of a reunion is still too vague for that kind of effort. (Admit it, it was satisfying watching Sam finally get the girl in Return of the King instead of it just being implied.)

Quality squad...if only

Ashley: Do you remember the good times? When Kaidan was still around?
Shepard: Yeah ... good times. Things looked like someone set hell loose, but compared to now ... it was child's play.
Ashley: Saren and his Geth Army. Wreaked havoc, but - we stopped him.
Shepard: Yeah. And Kaidan gave his life to protect the bomb, destroying the entire base. *shakes head* In hindsight I'm not sure if this all was worth his sacrifice.
Ashley: We took down Saren, Sovereign and bought the galaxy two more years. Too bad the Council wasted that time to declare the Reapers don't exist. They're responsible Kaidan's death felt ... unimportant. However - ask yourself, Skip: even with the Council's full support, nothing would have changed.
Shepard: I know. We might have a bigger fleet, maybe got some bigger guns but ... that's not enough to deal with an ancient foe like them.
Ashley: Exactly. Just because the Council wasted time, the war isn't lost and can still be won. And Kaidan's sacrifice wasn't meaningless.
Shepard: It won't become meaningless, as long as we stay together, Ash.
Ashley: I rather keep you around 'cause I love you than because of Kaidan but ... yeah, in a way you're right. Without his death, I would have died and we wouldn't stay here and talk about him.
Shepard: Yeah ...
Ashley: Kaidan ... we miss you.

Not really. A lot of the loading screen for landing places are the shuttle, and sometimes oyu exit the shuttle in game. I'v been playing all day and the Normandy hasn't landed one a single planet.

Also, pro tip, when tuchank opens up do Grunts mission first so you can land, cure the genophage, do the coup and save Ash, the do the Cerberus presence and both Victus missions with Ashley for fresh dialogue. It's amazing.Posted Image
