Garrus is a dialogue hog. I find taking Vega with Ash provides a good balance though.
And if Im forced to take Liara on any DLC mission, I wont buy it. Bad enough we have to tske her to get Javik, which is pointless when you think about it as she doesn't provide anything useful.
She's the Prothean expert ...
But besides that ... well, it makes much more sense to pick the VS for that mission. It was the first job with Kaidan and you picked Ashley up on that planet. I'm sure it has a bigger significance for them than to any other character except Shepard.
The Leviathan-DLC sounds more or less like a "neutral" job with no one needed to do the mission. I wonder if you have to pick some preset character or not. I rather have free choice - in that case, I'd love to have Vega and Ash with me.
Omega-DLC may force you to do half of the job with Aria, 'though.
Expert, my ass.
She's like a 5 year old kid that just asks questions all day. "Where are you going?" "What time is it?" "What are you doing?".... First time I played it I was OK with having to bring her because I thought there would be some investigative stuff to do but there's nothing like that. You get the two visions on how to open the pod yourself and you're good. What's her purpose besides being a PITA? The actual mission itself was a disappointment, but Javik himself is worth it just for bringing him to Thessia.
Ash + Javik is another good balanced squad too.

Whats a PITA? Other than a middle-eastern bread that is.

As a soldier it is not that much of a benefit though, and she does become a PITA then.

I actually like the Liara + Ash combo when playing sentinel. Being able to bounce powers off Liara and steam-roll any obstacle in the way with Ash is a winning combo. They form my team most of the time now.

It's why I hate being forced to take certain squadmates, especially late in the game like when we have to take her to Thessia. It can completely screw up your squad make-up that you have manage to build around your Shepard. Like if you're an adept, and they make you take Tali who is a tech. It's completely redundant.

Miranda grew enough to make her a little less unbareable...
Jacob? God, if I wasn't so dead set on the 'no man left behind' achievements, I'd of killed his ass.

Yeah. I liked in one and two how I wasn't required to bring certain squadmates for any mission, except Miranda and Jacob. Wanted to cap those two the minute I met them.

I kinda found Jacob to be kinda decent. While he doesn't have the eccentrcitities that the others have, he did have a sort of quiet stability. That being said power wise, he got overshadowed.

@survivor_686; just finished your ashley fanfics. Very good stuff. Loved the detail of the combat scenes and how you kept Ashley's characteristics from ME1. Good job.

Besides that, he wasn't that special. Simply liked him, 'though he's no match for Garrus, Kaidan or Joker. Vega is quite good too.
Whatever. If I really want a best bud, then it's Ashley. You know - that kind of best friendship that turns into love without losing the best friendship attitude. That's hard to get, nearly impossible.

My IRL relationship is love only, but doesn't really has a friendship base.scotiej wrote...
Not true, lovers can be best buddies too. Some people think that being friends ruins a relationship, but I think the opposite.
One of my buddies had his best friend as lover, but after a year they broke up and they never talked to each other again.
Let's say it's difficult.
In my headcanon, Shep & Ash are best friends AND lovers. That means Shep still can look after other girls, compare them - without offending Ash. Ashley on the other hand does it with guys. They know they can do it - because they're soulmates and loyal lovers.
Wish I could get that kind of love.

"Does it with guys"? How do you mean by that? In your head canon they have an open relationship?

I believe a blunt metaphor would be: 'Just because they've already ordered doesn't mean they can't still browse the menu.'

No. They have a normal relationship. Ash and Shepard just love to talk about other guys and girls and compare them and do stuff usually only best friends do. Hell, I bet they even encourage each other to flirt a bit with others - but they don't go any further. Who knows.
It's difficult to explain - and I surely can't show you.
Aurora is pretty much right,
Why do I suddenly have the urge to date her
(Just kidding. Australia is not really what I would call "just round next corner")

I liked Jacob early in two, but once the other more fleshed out characters came along I nearly forgot about him. In fact, he was so useless to my play style that I just sent him to escort the Normandy crew back.

Well as little as my opinion matters I would agree with scot on this, I can't see Shepard or Ashley being thrilled if the other was flirting with anyone else. That'd be a bit of a weird relationship. Sure Ash even says she might have to hit or shoot, or whatever it was, whatever table dancing tart was throwing herself at Shepard. Talking and being friends with the opposite sex is different from flirting with them but everyone has their own ideas so no worries.
I don't agree with, Data.
You (man or woman) shouldn't feel the need to shamelessly flirt with another guy if you're in a happy and stable relationship. And if you're making comparisons... You should only be comparing your guy with the guy across the street, and stating all the reasons why that guy across the street doesn't match up to the guy you love back home.
kekeke?

Sorry, but if you're happy and in love. The notion of another guy shouldn't even pop into your head.
