I love the idea of a VS DLC, and I think it could work even if the player doesn't take Ash along.

If Ash is along - She approaches you about the assignment, notes that her old squad is involved, and asks to come along.

If Ash isn't along - you're told to meet up with another ship on your way to the assignment, and it turns out to be the one that Ash is now commanding. You breifly get to find out more about what she's doing on her current assignment before going down to rescue her old squad.

The only problem is - how to handle a VS DLC if the VS dies during the coup? Posted Image

@Data; Those women aren't in love. It's rather simple, mate.

That picture... Man, Ashley really wanted to spend some time with her Skipper before the final battle, huh? :(

The mission simply doesn't get unlocked since the VS is not requesting you to perform that job.

@ MBE: Maybe I'm simply out of touch with "love". It kinda conflicts with my idea of "freedom". <_<
The more I think about it, the more I simply want a best (female) buddy without all the serious jazz. At least for a while, maybe six months or a year, before promoting it to something more meaningful. I hate the fact I skipped that portion with my fiancee ...

Bioware isn't going to do a DLC that everyone can't play. It's as simple as that.

How about this - if the VS survivor is dead, you can still do the mission, but the outcome is far worse.

For example, if the mission involved the VS' old unit getting into trouble rescuing a colony, you still get the mission to rescue the unit. But, the unit is led by someone who distrusts you for your Cerberus background, and only with the VS along to smooth things over can you get them to trust you.

Without the VS, you can't successfully get the unit to follow your orders, they get into more trouble, and they all die. This leads to you also being unable to succesfully rescue all of the colonists, because forces on the planet have been substantially reduced.

At the end of the mission, you'd still get war assets, but the total number would be reduced. Say, ordinarily you'd get the VS's old unit, but they're unavialble now. And maybe the colonists have some sort of critical skill, but since fewer of them survived, they provide less EMS.

If done right, having a deceased VS would just put a different (sader, more difficult) spin on the mission.

Sounds good enough to me, DWH. Wish BW would accept fully fleshed out suggestions in that field, but we simply don't have the supporters ...

A VS DLC is hopeless as we've no doubt learnt before.

Even if Bioware made a romance DLC for all characters, Weekes said that Ash/Kai would be left out of it since they had their chance and time in ME3. I bet if a romance DLC came out they wouldn't leave Liara or team dextro out of it though, that's for sure.

The VS fans get neglected by other fans, ignorant journalists and the actual developers themselves. It's the way it always has been.

DWH, you've done it again! If only bw would listen. But I couldn't ever see it happening either

Well, if you put it this way, MBE, I also could quit everything ME/Ashley related and move on.

I mean, where's the point waiting for something that we want but won't happen? I really hate what Weekes said.
It's basically the middle finger towards VS fandom.

Aaand it's basically now my top reason why I won't buy any BW games anymore.

If Liara and Team Dextro get an own romance / content DLC and the VS is ignored again, I quit.

What? When did he say that?

Link?

What, you're asking me for a link? This was months ago! I remember it because it was like a huge kick in the gut. Basically if fans push for a romance DLC the VS will be left out because they were in ME3 and got their content.

He didn't say anything about team dextro being left out despite them being in all three games though. That would bring the fans down on him. I didn't even reply to his tweet because, we're all used to it by now, you know.

Whatever. If they do a romance DLC without Ash content, I have no reason to buy it.

I'm buying story DLC for Mass Effect, but beyond that, I'm done with Bioware games.

Well, MBE, maybe someone should show Weekes that BW did a crappy job with the VS in ME3.
If that's what he called a "chance", then he better should learn that I rather had Ash killed while Earth evacuation than seeing a bad job done. So to speak.

So in fact: if a Romance DLC includes everyone except the VS, I'm done with the series, with BW and everything else in that field.

@CptData: I'm willing to buy DLC now that the EC, from what I've read, has made the endings acceptable (though I still don't think they look very good). Future Bioware games probably aren't in the cards for me. I might think about it if they do another ME game, but even then I'd be hard pressed. I think ME might just end with ME3, for me.

Bioware has issues with their fans, and issues with treating their own characters fairly. Personally, I'm looking forward to Wasteland 2 and CD Projekt's cyberpunk RPG.

@DWH; Yeah, I hear that.

By now, Bioware know that they can get away with leaving the VS out of things. Comics, DLC's, merchandise, ME2... and ME3 to an extent. Ashley has jack all to say and that's "okay".

I'm still pissed that the VS didn't get their own comic like the rest of the ME3 squad. When Weekes was asked about that, he said that if there was enough demand for it, it might happen in the future. I called BS. I never bothered to reply to that either because you know whatever we say gets swept under the rug anyway. Besides, the fans shouldn't have to beg for it.

That's why I'm not pushing for a romance DLC. It'll just be another burn. I'll buy story DLC however. But buy another BW game? No way.

Biowares RPGs have been getting worse with time, anyway. ME3 barely felt like Mass Effect at times with scan and grab missions instead of discovering "real" missions, and with the lack of hub worlds.

RPG game worlds shouldn't be getting smaller, and RPGs shouldn't be giving us more restrictions on choices, but with Bioware, that seems to be the trend.

I still don't get it why BW hates the VS.
Guess because they had to deal with the variables (which one died). And that means extra work.

Sorry for depressing mood. Going to fetch beer and chocolate to raise my mood.

Yeah, that gif would be just about perfect if that parcticular Shepard didn't have ginger hair and one hell of a square jaw.

By the way... WHAT THE HELL IS THAT WHITE STUFF IN ASHLEY'S HAIR!?

It's blood but it's the way the light is shining on it, same with his hair. I don't think it's ginger there I just think it's the lighting, it still looks dark to me

"Sand" is the innocent explaination.

There's probably pigeons in London. That might explain it.
