I'm intrigued by this. I clicked on the link in your sig but it's a private group so I can't read it. I don't generally join groups that I don't know anything about. Is it a petition? A full on video game script?

It's essentially a codex-like compendium of background information on Ashley, although I think they've been canonizing a version of Shepard as well.

Oh. ...huh. Well, I doubt I'd have much to contribute to that, then *lol* I have the Mass Effect wiki bookmarked because my encyclopedic knowledge of all things nerdy has too many slots filled with Simpsons and Futurama quotes or Legend of Zelda lore. Priorities!

Everything Mass Effecty I can't find I just make up.

Yeah, I've found that I can't seem to make stuff up either. I'm great at memorizing things though.

They did some great stuff on creating a back story for Ash's S1 designation, very cool. They basically created a whole new section of Alliance special forces for her....I think, I believe survivor_686 came up with that.

Attention Ashely fans!

As a result of the popularity of the Romance DLC thread and polls on BSN and HTL, folks over at HTL have combined all the suggestions and made a new, more in depth survey.

It will only take 5 minutes of your time, unless you like to make comments, and we hope to get even more responses than on the BSN polls.

Results will be analyzed, summarized into a report, and sent to Bioware.

If you want to be heard on this issue, this is the best way to do it!

Please take the survey!

Hi all, I didn't romance Ashley at all seems I pretty much just play as femshep so that kind of makes it impossible :),
but I was just wondering if when you do fill out the survey that at the end where it says who else you would like romanceable can you find it in your hearts to tick a couple of the boxes there for those of us that would really like to romance a character that wasn't included. For me that was James, so I ticked James and a couple of the other boxes for characters that I have noticed the most want of a romance option.
But even though I didn't romance Ash I still chose the options for more interection and content for you wonderful people that did, and want more. So I'm hoping some of you will find it in your hearts to return the favour.

Thank you for reading my little plea. Posted Image

In short, it's our own Ash & Shepard super-duper canon since Bioware never do the L.C the justice she deserves and they clearly fail at writing her. I believe Youth is gonna send it off to the BW bunker when it's finished.

I'm not much use either. I basically just go in there to disagree with everyone and side-track, Data.

*Takes a proud bow*

I already ticked James! Posted Image My FemShep wanted him, big time. The only other guy for her is Kaidan, and that's not enough.

Can you guys imagine what it would be like not being able to romance Ashley in ME1 despite her being such a huge flirt!?

Oh that's cool at least. I have been reading about how dumb and nonsensical the military ranks are for the Alliance, so some illumination on their BS letter-number designations is helpful. Backstory on how she jumped like half a dozen titles during ME2 would be incredible, since you don't get a feel for how she's perceived by the Alliance post-Citadel. On the one hand, she's on some outskirts colony setting up fortifications among people who hate Alliance, but on the other she's trusted enough to be Cerberus/Shepard/Collector bait.

I have grand intentions to write a backstory for Ash if you reject her at the Citadel following the coup and she leads her own ragtag bunch of misfits to help out Hackett/Crucible and Shep/Normandy. Plus make a long distance relationship work. Gripping unrealized literature for all.

Gah, Bioware wrote themselves into so many corners and junk throughout ME3 it's no wonder it's not sorted out.

What, again? We already have VS himself, why the hell we need his alter ego or doppelganger?

Exactly that.

Either way, you get to learn what happened to them between ME1 and 2, and the promotion gets explained.

You serve yourself. Do you believe in such kind of promotion? I don't and I state that multiple times. I see zero ways for her to jump from OC to LtCdr in 6 months. Even in 2.5 years.
Shepard's mom, in case of Spacer background, was XO in 83, somehow (*cough* ME2 *cough*Posted Image) I doubt she was Admiral back then, not sure for Captain rank. If she gave him birth while she was 18, thus - cadet in academy, then we got her 48 y.o. in 2183. If she was 18, probably she spent year or two rising lil'Shep, so she could continue her service/study when she was 20-21, thus, graduating at 24-25 (if we took 4 years cycle as basis). So she was graduated in 2160, then using my template I posted hundred or more pages ago:
60-63 - 2nd Lt.
63-67 - 1st Lt.
67-74 - St Lt.
74-80 - LtCdr-StCdr.
80-82 - Cpt.
82-85 - unknown, apparently Cpt, declined Admiral promotion.

That's true if she was 18 when lil'Shep was born, but what if she was officer already, 22 y.o.?
Let's say she still used two years to look after lil'Shep. So 24 y.o, that will be 56.
56-59 - 2nd Lt.
59-63 - 1st Lt.
63-70 - St Lt.
70-76 - LtCdr-StCdr.
76-78 - Cpt.
76-85 - apparently Cpt as well.

By this tab it seems she is contemporary with Hackett. At least in terms of service years, if use my table for Hackett. Otherwise, 2 years per rank system makes little sense for that trio - Anderson, Hacket, Shepard's mom.

Who was held by brass?

Done. I'm the guy that romanced Ashley only ... ;)

I think I wrote something like this in her comment box:

"Ashley's romance is okay, but she lacks a friendship (level banter). I want do talk to her about the past two years and also my Shepard wants comfort after the fall of Thessia."

Also I was "yes" with quality of Ashley's romance, but "no" with the quantity.

Also voted for "call LI to cabin like in ME2" and strongly agreed with "more romantic content", "DLC dedicated to romances" and such. Also strongly disagreed on "there were enough romances".

My votes for more LI were on: Joker, Vega, Giana Parasini, Aria and Shiala.

I said that too. I'm not overly sure why because I have romanced both Miranda and Tali but I was in full blown 'fight for Ashley' mode and for some reason didn't tick them, I've ruined the entire surveyPosted Image  Posted Image

Well, I was tempted to romance Miri and Tali, but I stayed loyal to Ash.

And actually - you know, we guys are always looking for an upgrade of the current girlfriend if we're not fully satisfied. Ashley is pretty much a "Mark X" - there can't be an upgrade for her. That's what I call "dream type".

What? I just thought it would be interesting to have Ash's former 2IC (second in command) to be a Star of Terra recipent and chew out the player for killing her. Haven't thought about the details behind it. For PG...thats really the only leadership position anyone knows of when it comes to ME's marine corp. He/she would be a NCO, cause ME doesn't need any more officers.<_<

No, of course not. But something....ANYTHING, even saying Ash completed Officer Training 101, would be some improvement.

2nd LT or even a 1st LT would have been fine with me.

I did the survey.

Basically - the VSs. Loved the Quality, hated the Quantity. Wish there was an actual reward for remaining loyal - not a brief chat in the hospital and slightly altered dialogue on their dates. Perhaps an extra cutscene or option to invite them to your cabin for Comfort, possibly sex - especially after Thessia went to the crapper. (I'm not saying that as a joke, I'm being serious.)
Liara - Would have preferred a support role providing intel, like Joker and Traynor present and interactable, but not a squadmate. Being forced to bring her to certain missions or that a lot of her content had romantic undertones when un-romanced just pisses me off.

Also, there was too much auto dialogue for my tastes. I miss ME1's level of interaction... though spontanous stuff like 'You... BIG... STUPID JELLYFISH!' were alright. I almost wet myself laughing when that was the first thing out of Shepard's mouth in that mission without prompting. Exactly how I felt... though I woullda called it 'dinner'... I hear that battered Hanar tastes like calamari. Posted Image

How many Victoria Cross or Medal of Honor or Golden Star recipients do you know? Just wondering.
Of course, maybe clash between two SoT recipients could be interesting, but look from another angle - superior talking with subordinate, both awarded for personal valour (that's the awards for, not ranks - they reflect leadership skills). And if former commander of your former commander has reasons to kill the latter...

Is PG actually some leadership position? On Basic - maybe, what about regular service? Just some crafty guy responsible for ammo (irrelevant in ME1 times, barely adequate due cretinic thermal clips distribution system) and food. Now sure for water - haven't seen jerry cans, camelbaks or something. Recycling water a-la Dune?

Spitfire017 wrote...

No, of course not.

Precisely!

Spitfire017 wrote...

Not sure what is OT 101, but I look at this from another angle: personally I would have much greater respect to highly skilled NCO than to such jumpee as ME3 Ashley. Even Kaidan, though his promotion is slightly better. That's why I don't get removal of Warrant Officers (and their counterparts) - John 117 is Master Chief. Not Major General, Master Chief Petty Officer.

However, I still think all that "promotion" thing was done for new gamers. Shepard is "commander", Kaidan in Major now, Ashley is "Lieutenant Commander", though technically she's same rank as Shepard, Vega is "some" lieutenant and Joker is "flight lieutenant" (Codex anyone?), not to mention all those "ensigns", not present in Codex as well.

Spitfire017 wrote...

Likewise. 5 ranks for 5 and half years and hyperjump from NCO to company-batallion leadership positions - people serves decade to get there. Unless there is global war like WWII, but there were none, till Harbringer and his gang arrived.

I'd really like to see a faithful Shepard rewarded more too.
For Shepards who are romancing Ashley for the first time in ME3, it'd be nice if there were more opportunities to flirt/have banter with her like in ME1 since it's the beginning of a romance. I kind of like the idea of Shepard not falling for her in ME1 but admiring her as a fellow solider and then eventually developing feelings for her because of everything they have been through together.
+ I just started playing ME3 on PC does anyone know of any good Ash mods they would recommend?

Reward is a must have. Maybe a special romantic scene you won't get if not romancing Ash in ME1 and not staying loyal?

Mods for Ash? You mean weapon mods or so?

Weapon mods: get the armor penetration mod for her sniper rifle - she doesn't need extra ammo or something. And with the Widow she also doesn't need that armor penetration mod anymore but you should add both damage mods.

A good way to reward a loyal Shep would be to allow them to consumate the realtionship earlier - and open the opportunity for Ash to move into his cabin.

This, of course, would allow for a slightly different love scene before the Cerberus base, since it wouldn't be the first time they're sleeping together since getting back together. There'd also be subtle hints/changes in how they act towards each other that suggest what's going on, and maybe even Ash's default position from that point forward would be in Shepard's cabin, not in the observation deck.

Just a thought.

Loyal romance - After the Citadel date, we get a bonus scene where Ashley is staring out the window, Shepard hugs her from behind and they have a brief chat about some subject or another where Shepard in his usual blunt/corny fashion asks her to move up to his cabin. She playfully remarks about needing some 'convincing' which Shepard happily ablidges. Maybe even have that 'what was the otherside like' conversation that got cut from development as pillow talk afterwards.

Afterwards, she's moved up to the loft and is working at the second smaller desk next to Shepard's lounge chair. There, we'll have some ambient dialogue going on and maybe Ashley'll wonder around the cabin. Either lying down on the lounge or sitting comfortably on the bed. Shepard'll have the option of joining her for brief conversations/makeout/lovemaking.

In the pre-earth romance scene, Shepard'll wonder into his cabin looking the most rundown he has all game and goes immediately to work, ignoring Ash's presense in the room. She approaches him, gives the standard peptalk similar to what we have now. Saying yes - Shepard and Ash make love, saying no - Ashley accepts but pulls you to the bed and encourages you to rest.

At least that's how it'd work if I was doing it.

^Yea I'd like that DWH. I always thought it'd be weird that Shepard is loyal to Ashley throughout ME2 and rescues Ashley on Mars, rushes her to hospital, visits her several times, brings her gifts and tells her he loves her and wants things to go back to the way they were before and yet it takes until the Cerberus base for them to be able to be together. It just feels wrong and unreal.

If you were loyal then asking Ash to your cabin would have been cool. Having an earlier romance scene would be cool too and maybe it'd be more...excuse me here...carnal as it is releasing 3 years of built up desire and longing (sadly those 'angry mothers' have made it so this would never happen). While the later one would be a more touching, emotional moment as it may be the last time they are together.
