Lt. Commander Ashley Williams thread: "Don't 'Ash' me!" We're Back Baby!

And to be honest: without ME1, Ashley's romance doesn't make much sense in ME3. I totally understand why ME3 alone doesn't attract any players towards her.

From what I gathered most new players, miss Ashley the first time around, or screw it up. She's the hardest to romance in ME3. There's some dialogue options (where she's not even present) that can ruin a romance with her. It's so easy to happen.
As a female romance option, Liara clearly got the best treatment and is designed to attract most fanboys and girls. She does have the best romance. She was GIVEN it. Ashley however, is constantly getting beat down, gets pushed out the game, and in situations which are annoying and make her come off as a **** and mistrusting. I have a feeling that new players are more than likely to jump on the whole "she pointed a gun at me and doesn't trust me" bandwagon.
While Liara on the other hand, get her special scenes and chance at writing shepard's name "in the stars" and all that. Ash gets nothing like that. -.-
Bioware made sure no other female romance can compete with their blue pet, liara. Even in ME2, Liara's DLC was better than the actual ME2 romances themselves.
Liara's treatment over the other characters is something which seriously annoys me.
I wouldn't mind it, if Bioware actually could be f**ked doing the same for the other romances, and make it fair.

But that's ok, Ash and Shepard keep the personal stuff off the battlefields. Which makes the EC goodbye incredibly awkward for Vega.
Shepard: "No matter what ... I love you."
Ashley: "I love you"
Vega: "huh?!"

Well played, BW ... >.>
I don't mind Liara's romance. I do mind Ashley's romance is pretty much impossible to get if you don't know she's romanceable. And, as I said, why should you romance her at all? You don't know who she is, she's quite unpleasant with all of her suspicions dealing with Shepard's past.
In fact: without knowing Ashley from ME1, I wouldn't romance her.
Liara on the other hand can be romanced in ME3 from scratch since you get the idea she's interested in you AND she's displayed as someone you want to like.

Ash in ME3 is a half assed job. It's like if they talked about her family everything would be okay, and that allows them to completely screw over her character by forcing her in stupid situations like the coup, that gives the haters a reason to get their payback on her.
It's like this:
Bioware: Here new players, here's Liara she's better. And nicer to you, and actually has meaningful cutscenes and actually talks! Unlike that mute in the other room who's p*ssed because you worked for Cerberus six months ago, and refuses to say anything to you.
Bioware's favourtism for Liara? Plain obvious.
Ash deserved better. Or at least the same treatment as Kaidan. God, his goodbye scene is twice as long, most of his scenes are.

Frankly, he deserved to. And it makes no fricking sense that he didn't. It would be like someone returning to the U.S. military after a year + of working for Al Qeada and everyone being "just fine" with them.
EDIT: I guess Liara's "father" gives you some grief over it, but it's a very short reference and easy to miss. Does anyone else in the game seem to care? The only other people who raise it as an issue immediately make excuses for him which is just... dumb.

And Ashley would have actually rocked in ME3.
Meh. That seems to be where it all went wrong - when those two left and Walters took over.

If Chris were still with BW, Thane would still live and kick serious ass after receiving his cure.
I wish we could ask both writers for support. Seriously.
We won't get it, but ... yeah. <_<

Stay optimistic man, there is alot of 'LI DLC' hype around the BSN, plus, ppl are working on PP for Ashley...
Who know, maybe it will all turn out good

I realize that it has been a while since I was here, and that I don't know most of the current posters, but the near-bashing of other characters is making me a little uncomfortable. Ash fans are meant to be classy! We know Ash is quality despite the fact that she often gets the shaft and so we still manage to be gracious. (Or if not gracious exactly, at least more or less civil).

Well, a generic LI DLC won't give much fluff to the VS, if at all.
We might need to fight for a VS centered DLC, means, splitting up the DLCs into multiple parts. One for the VS, one for ME2 romances except Tali and Garrus, a Team-Dextro DLC ... you know.
And every single DLC should give at least one mission playable as non-romantic content too, so there's a reason to buy that DLC even if you never romanced any characters in that DLC.

Hate to say it, but I feel the same way.
No one else really can really be bothered with PP either, that was supposed to be our "call to arms" so to say, but that's pretty much died out aside from 2 or 3 people.
Whatever. I know it's a total ****ing downer thing to say here but; It's like, if they don't care, why should I?

Mostly it's with Liara, and it's just anger over how much extra screen time she has.
I hate to say it, but at times the favoritism Bioware shows her impacts how I feel about her as a character. Usually I keep it from doing so. But, yeah.
That's another problem with character/LI favoritism - it can lead to resentment that the character doesn't actually deserve.

Chances of me spending much time on that more or less went down the drain when it was decided that there should be a canon Shepard.
It's not that I can't understand the reasoning. But it still makes it hard for me to maintain an interest. Especially when time is spent on deciding what Shepard's background should be and how to merge the various war records instead of spending that time on things Ash related.
I have my own idea of what Shepard is like, and setting up another "canon" Shepard just doesn't feel right to me.

Expand on ME2 characters who were sidlines (especially miri/jack).
Expand on all LI characters (excpet Jacob, cuz what's the point) in order to maximize sales. Even the most popular LI isn't going to account for more than 25-30% of the fanbase at best. You can't release a full DLC to that sort of sales, it'll bomb.
Also, what does "PP" refer to?

But that's beyond us anyway, all that we can do is simply show BioWare that we want more Ash content. We need to bring it to their attention that something isn't right.

Where was it stated ?
I know P.W. said on his tweeter that he would make ME2 centric DLC before VS DLC but that is it (he was talking about hypothetical situations).
And as I said before, when I asked him he said that any future content is possible if there is a demand for it.
There is no point in being pessimistic when everything depends on the fanbase. Be pro-active, not pessimistic.
