Every time I look at this thread, there's new people here... which is all kinds of awesome, imo, but also makes me feel negligent. ^^

So, I played the "Extended Suck" a few days ago, and since I restarted from the raid on the thing that you raid (hey, it still says "no spoilers" -- mebbe?), I got some moments to re-appreciate Shepley. Final verdict? I like the added Ash scenes (so one), and I wish I didn't waste so much time and disk space DLing. And I'm sure this is like 1,000 pages late in internet time.

Anyhoo.... good to see people keeping up zee legacy. As Liam always said, "Ash is worth it." Sheeeeit, now I feel like an oldie. :)

e: Welcome, Time.  I'm not active here because.... I'm generally not... but they're an awesome bunch because they like Ash, so... HAI.

Thanks for the welcome! I have been lurking here for awhile so I feel like I kinda know people already hahaha.

You know what's funny is that I got into the Mass Effect series back in March. I played the first one, got hooked on it, and I bought the second one at a Gamestop while on Vacation in Las Vegas sometime in April, then immediately bought the third Mass Effect online. I never played the original ending to Mass Effect 3.

True enough. But since it's just them in a scabby part of the Citadel surrounded by strangers, I think Ashley is just grateful that he came for her when she needed it. It's a very meaningful gesture inviting Shepard to the memorial, I think. Also, very meaingful when she said that her father would have liked Shepard. It's like welcoming him into the family sort of.

Found this:

I like that quote.
When did Ash changed from "cute tomboy" to "stunning beauty"?

We definitely need more Ashley ... I want my VS DLC :(

Ha-ha, you reminded me about what happened after we defeated Napoleon. :D The whole Europe payed us "well" for this...
Ok, ok, I think we don't need history lesson here. :)

Hmm, you know what I thinking about?.. Did Reapers can see dreams? Well, you know, maybe while they sleeping. :)

(to keep on top)
Ash is cute!

And hello to newcomers. =)

I gotta give credit to Ashley for being able to carry & operating the Widow, which weighs 39 kilos.   :o

I am trained in using the German MG42 which weight is about 12 kilos. And that thing gets heavy really fast when walking aroung with it...

I'm pretty sure the armor also supports your strength ... so maybe the gun feels more like 10 kilos or so ... which is still quite heavy.

You have to remember that Marines are genetically enhanced upon entering the military. Things like long or short-sightedness, disposition to certain genetic defects have been all but removed from the genepool. Most marines can run 15% faster than most unmodded humans and are 10-15% stronger... not to mention all the conditioning, improved nutrition and other medical advances.

Don't know much about the armor itself, but there is an in-built medical system that administers medigel and keeps a constant watch on metabolic rates.

Basically - there is a lot of **** that goes into making Marines better/stronger/faster.

And some more Ashley before lunch. The last one is pretty cool & sums up her character.

Sounds like they are space marines. :)
I think they are not "running faster" or "hitting stronger" because of genetic improvement. I think it fix only some defects in their organism, that's all. All other abilities comes with training.

No, people can still wear glasses, they just ... ya know, serve no other purpose but aesthetics. Same with cigarettes. They do nothing to the human body anymore beyond addiction. No chemicals, no lung damage. But there's still social stigma...

And would you believe that no other aliens actually thought of the concept of smoking until Humanity came on the stage?

Sorry for being a tad off topic, but I thought I'd point out that Bioware took a nice initiative by offering the EC soundtrack for download for free:

Why not? It should be remembered. And reminded, if someone forgot that. Posted Image

Do Reapers Dream of Electric Humans?

Yeah, and total weight Shepard could carry is 159 kg. Suit support? Aha. Yeah, right...

MG42 or MG3? IIRC you should be quote old to use 42...

And I'm pretty sure it doesn't. There is no mentioning it is exoskeleton or servomotors, no interlinking pieces which could form something supporting or reminding it and, IIRC my fav Cerberus' Arnour description mentions weight, hinting that you have to carry it on yourself.

Rudy: some stuff doesn't need to get mentioned.

Keep in mind, that armor itself is quite heavy already, it would be insane to use it without any strength enhancing systems. Shepard can run forever without using up any stamina - I bet that armor is supporting him with a lot of drugs and, as said before, some servo motors. It makes sense - especially since that technology is already known in our days.

In ME2 it was explained Shepard got cybernetics to use the Widow and the only other one using it was Legion. However, it was not caused by the weight but the brutal recoil.
That recoil got reduced by a lot in ME3, therefore Ashley can use the Widow too ...

So in short, I believe the armor supports its user's strength, even if it's not stated anywhere. Otherwise, NO one can carry a 30kg gun. Or a total weight of 160kg, not for an extended period of time. Not to speak of running. So I think the armor is the key.

.. apparently Ash ends up with James if you don't romance her.... O.O

I know I said I didn't mind it, but right now if he was making a move on a Romanced Ash I'm really wishing that there was a banter telling him to f*** off.

Rudy, I wanted to remind about The Crimean War. :)

Electric humans? :D

But how Shepard's health recovered on Earth, at the beginning? He was without armor there. :)

Soldier: Oh my god! Holy crap!
Engineer: What, what's 'Oh my god, holy crap'?
Medic: Is... is that Ashley Williams? The Lieuie Commander from the Reaper war.
Engineer: She's a Major now. Her family got blacklisted a few gens back, but she dragged it from the mud and put it right up there with Vakarian, Anderson and Shepard again. Didn't you hear?
Medic: No, I hadn't. And whose that guy with her?
Engineer: Not a single clue? But with that N7 stripe - he's gotta be a badass.
Soldier: *staring blankly at them both.* You're kidding, right? You seriously have to be deaf, blind and stupid not to know who he is.
Medic: Well, then go on! Mister know-it-all.
Engineer: Come on,  tell us.
Soldier: That's Admiral John W. Shepard! The man who single handedly destroy the Reapers a decade ago! He runs the entire N7 division and co-admins the SpecTRes with the Major!
Medic: Holy -!
Engineer: Sh!t!
Soldier: Yeah! He's practically a living god. Both of them are. If they show up, you know sh!t's about to get real!
Engineer: ... wow... he's kind of hot.
Medic: He's kind of married.
Engineer: To whom!?
Soldier: Williams. They tied the knot about six months after the way, few weeks after the Normandy was discovered.
Engineer: Lucky b*tch.
Medic: And you're kind of married too.
Engineer: Girl can dream. F*ck I hate Williams now.

Ashley: Heh, listen to all the rookies. They're practically wetting themselves.
Shepard: I know. They're so cute. But I don't know about being a 'god'. I think my ego is big enough.
Ashley: I have to agree, but behind closed doors however, *whistles appreciatively* that's a different story.
Shepard: Thank you. I prefer to think of it differently though.
Ashley: Oh yeah?
Shepard: Yeah, something Kat said. 'Paragon on the street, renegade in the sheets'.
Ashley: *roflmao* You - are terrible, You and your sister, both.
Shepard: I knew you'd get a kick out of that.

I wouldn't mind Ashley ending up with James if my Shepard was otherwise engaged.

Very good dialogue Aurora.

Unromanced, I'm fine with it. But if he tries to make a move on Ash while my Shepard is trying to rekindle a romance... me not happy...
