In my headcanon, Shep and Ashley actually have twin boys first, and a daughter a few years later.

Of course, in my headcanon, Shepard and Ashley break up pretty soon after the Reaper War, so he actually has two kids from his first marriage when he and Ash finally get together....

You're right enough but kids have ways of manipulating their parents like no one else can. Shepard is a strong guy but in his private life if he was surrounded by 5 women then he is not gonna get his way all the time.

I sort of have that feeling that everything would end with Shepard and he is the overall authority in the house but if there is something the girls want to do they'll go to daddy look at him with puppy dog eyes, give him a hug and he'd melt and they'd get their way.

@Danny; Oh, of course there's gonna be those times, but he's always going to remain the boss (most of the time, he is married to Ashley Williams after all =P). Ha, but I get the vibe that Shepard and Ashley would be very protective of their daughter, especially with their status in the world. Also, Ash is known to be protective over her sisters. Like their baby will always come first.

Oh it's gonna be one of the most spoilt, cared for, cuddled children in all of history!

Shepard is what Bruce Springsteen is to music, The Boss. So yea the buck stops with Shepard and his decisions are final. However, as you said Example, being married to Ashley is gonna challenge that at times cause she's a strong woman who sticks by her beliefs. Throw in the possibility of a daughter who is equally as strong then things are gonna get more interesting.

But don't think that I believe Shepard will turn into a pathetic mess, you can still be strong and the traditional father figure but still have a soft spot for your daughter and they can challenge you like others wouldn't be able to.

  Yeah, well, he's always wanted a big family, ever since he lost everyone he ever met on Mindoir....  (And to be fair, the daughter he & Ash have is an unexpected event.....)

Edit: As to "who's in charge," I think Shepard and Ashley probably end up arguing about a lot of decisions, until one of them backs down.  Two strong personalities, but both usually smart enough to pick their battles.

'Family first and foremost' the only principle that my Shepards hold above everything, even orders and galaxy-threatening monsters, the first thing they will always do is protect their family. So you can expect that they'll take very good care of their children. Especially since my Twin!Sheps are Earthborn, and had no real family of their own. Least until they came to the Alliance, cliched as that sounds.

To my Shepards, the crew of the Normandy is their family. Sure, they're twins, but the crew is their extended family. My Fem!Shep especially, considers EDI to be closer to a little sister than a friend, how EDI came to her for dating advice really drilled that in. My Bro!Shep needles Joker and Garrus constantly, plays mentor to James and likes to think of Chakwas as a maternal figure.

Well, I don't see Ashley intentionally aiming for that number when it comes to kids myself . But I don't think Ash would mind once they're all in the world. She's had a big family herself.

I actually wrote a very, very terrible little snippet about that aspect of their relationship that I might use in a fanfic at some future date.

Ashley and Dad fight all the time.  But their fights are different from the fights Mom and Dad used to have.  When Mom had fought with Dad, the two of them used to get louder and louder, until the fight ended with sudden silence, like Mom and Dad had lost their voices, or had gotten too far away from each other
for their words to be heard any more.  No one ever won those fights.

Ashley and Dad fight about everything, more things than Mom and Dad fought about, but their fights never end quietly.  Instead, there’s an easy pattern to tell you who’s going to win.  If Dad roars a little, and his face gets red, Ashley makes a joke, touches his shoulder or his face, and he smiles and gives in.  If Dad looks serious, puts his hands on Ashley’s cheeks and says: “Look at me, Chief,” she’ll take a deep breath, nod, and give in.

In my 'head canon', Ashley and Shepard seal the deal about 8 -12 months after the reaper war. They have their first daughter (who takes after Ashley) a bit earlier than what they expected, about two years after they get married. It was unplanned of course and both were still helping out in their own ways on Earth. Their son comes along about 4 - 5 years after that. Military schedules and all.

At the end of ME3, Ashley is determined to stay with Shepard no matter what. I can't see her giving up on her relationship with Shepard unless he’s dead, and even that - she'll never really let him go or forget about him. So for it to end - it would have to be Shepard’s decision to walk out on her after everything.

I doubt it. Loyal Shepards literally went to hell and back for Ashley. I'm pretty certain they both need each other by war's end.
