@ Rudy: you're the military expert, I'm the SciFi expert - let's say it's a tie.
I also can bake. So I won.

But okay, maybe you actually could help me to solve some equation I'm trying to beat for months.
Widow. 40 kg, 1083 points of damage, 1 shot.
Black Widow. 40 kg, 642 points of damage, 3 shots.
Paladin. 12 kg, 438 points of damage, 4 shots.
Carnifex. 12 kg, 345 points of damage, 6 shots.
My question is pretty simple: how the **** that's possible?
Also, why the hell "ultra-light materials" on SMG have no effect on other weapon's parameters? Such as kick or muzzle flip.

If I ever have to explain the armor / weight story in my fanfic, I'll go with the "power suit" idea. I also think we really should use it in the Phoenix Project if we ever run into that issue and need to explain it.
It's not that it's going to break anything or makes Shepard look like a wimp if we add that little idea to the lore. After all, we already -have- to tweak and fix the lore to make Project Phoenix working, so ... yeah, you get it.
I think you placing cart ahead of horse, i.e. trying to solve problem from wrong end. How power armour can actually help to fight recoil?
I have impression, that ME armour is something of a hybrid between biker protection, hockey player protection and riot police suit protection, only made from other materials, allowing them to effectively hermetically seal suit. Soft layer does most of the job, while hard layer work mostly as blunt trauma protector and low velocity objects (stones, debris, minor shrapnel. And they are not that superb - Shepard's suit was ruptured.
