Depends on the endings. I've got the idea FTL alows fast travel, 'though the Mass Relays are used to reduce travel time and fuel consumption by a great extend. However, galactic society isn't entirely crippled, even with the (temporary) loss of the Mass Relays. They still have Quantum Communications and they're going to rebuild everything.

So in my idea, the Normandy isn't that far away it takes years to come back. Months? Yes. But not years. I'm not even sure if the Normandy was in Mass Transit or just using FTL, by the way.

If its just in a neighbouring starsystem, then I imagine the trip itself would take a few weeks at the most. But getting the Normandy Spaceworthy would be the time-consuming part. Either way, Itd take a while.

Not really. The Normandy can take one hell of a beating and it crashed harder during the suicide mission. It didn't take long at all to get it up and running again. But without EDI... it might prove to be a bit of a problem. Let's hope Adams, Gabby and Ken are good. Without Adams, they'd all be screwed. Ha! vital to the plot.

Yeah I was kinda wondering that during ME2. The SR2 normandy survived an EMP pulse (from the destructing collector ship), survived Reaper drone attacks, survived smashing into a pole at orbital speed aaannddd smashing into a base.

Damn that ship is tough.
