On my last run, I always took Vega with me when I had Ash and the dialogue was pretty even between them. They even have some pretty funny banter together, especially on the Turian bomb mission.

the first half of ME3. You get her on the squad and she's injured after the first mission.

Oh, that. Fair enough. I agree she wasn't really used to her best potential in ME3, and was a tad disappointed; more plot would have been nice there.

Hows this for a mind twist:

Ashley stays with the crew, gets past Mars and makes it all the way to Tuchanka...then she gets injured?

Having her injured later on in the story would have been more a gut-wrench than say early on. Maybe have her injured by Kai Leng, give us more reason to go after that smug wannabe-ninja.

Yea it's a good idea survivor but it would have driven me crazy. I wanted Ashley back as soon as possible and so as the game gets more intense I'm glad Ashley was with me and I really wanted to bring her with me on those missions later in the game. If she hadn't been available then I would have been so annoyed.

But her being injured by Kai Leng I like cause yea I'd have really wanted to kick that smug little fellows bottom!

Hey, Kai Leng is one of us! Well, only on part but still. And why is half Russian man is complete bastard? Ok, that's off top.

I don't know, I was disappointed when she was out of squad in first half of game. Well, Tali too, and that's not good too. So, I think she was in hospital too long. It feels like BioWare didn't complete the game in time and they had idea: "Oh, I know, she will be in the hospital, because we didn't completed her character! Right! Awesome move guys! We are geniuses!", - and all like that.

It wasn't her in hospital that I thought was too long, it was the time between that and the coup and getting her back onto the ship. I suppose if you know the missions to do in the order that gets her back quicker then you can do that but it does break up the natural flow of the game a bit and some missions have time limits to them.

I was just so glad to have her back in the game after ME2 that I wanted her for every possible mission

And I don't want to break natural flow of the game. And even after she returned to duty all you can hear: "Shepard!". With Wrex it was funny, but not with Ash!

  her. She's no career soldier, but there she is, coping with all this.
  Reminds me of Dad. Whatever was going on, he put a smile on his face for
  us. He did his best with four daughters and a strong wife. He always
  said live fire exercises was good prep for facing "his girly horde."
• Shepard: He sounds like a fine man.
• Ashley: Right. Here we go. Okay,
  remember the trip to the beach the summer before I left for basic
  training? Abby was grumbling. Missing some big party, remember? And Lynn
  had a new dress. She was so pretty. I always felt like a elephant next
  to her. It was a beautiful, sunny day, but we were fighting about stupid
  stuff; being kids. Remember when Mom came up and hugged us all? A big,
  fierce hug. She said, "This is one of the good days. Something you'll
  remember." She was right. I love you guys.
