Lt. Commander Ashley Williams thread: "Don't 'Ash' me!" We're Back Baby!

Since I saw your discussion last night - I can't do anything bad to Ash either. Dunno why. Even if I had a totally renegade Shep, he would care for her and keep the world together just to be with her. That's all.
-------------
5 years after the end of the Reaper War ...
Joker: ... and then we crashed on the planet. Not sure how we survived and how the Normandy made it, but ... we made it.
EDI: It is fascinating you could land the Normandy without my assistance, Jeff.
Joker: Guess because I'm still the best pilot in the galaxy?
EDI: That is correct.
Ashley: Hey you two, how's it going?
EDI: Jeff is remembering the "good ol' times". He always does.
Joker: No kidding. It was hell. We lost good people, nearly lost the galaxy. But we also had great moments.
Ashley: Indeed, we had ...
Joker: Great friends, great victory parties ... hell, we were celebrating for nearly a month after the war. 'specially when we found out Shepard was still alive.
Ashley: Oh yeah ... *sigh* ... I miss him.
Joker: Definitely. The Normandy is not the same without him. No offense, Commander.
Ashley: None taken, Joker. I know exactly what you mean. It's just ... I really wonder why he took that position as ambassador. They even asked Shepard to take a Seat in the Council but he refused. And ... he vanished two years ago. No one knows where he is.
Joker: Well, if I were Shepard, I'd pick up my gun again and do something to make the galaxy a safer place. Which is still a full time job ...
Ashley: Maybe. But then at least the Shadow Broker should know where he is. I asked her ... but no. Liara has no clue.
Joker: I hope he didn't die. I mean ... he's out there without his friends. And you know how often you saved him. Ask Garrus, ask Vega ...
Ashley: Not helping, really. I wonder if I can take the Normandy for a little search ...
Joker: You're a Spectre.
Ashley: I do have an assignment in this system. Can't drop it for a personal quest.
Joker: It's just guarding duty in one of the safest systems in the galaxy. The Council is wasting your time.
Ashley: Could ask another Spectre doing that job.
Joker: That's the spirit. Now, plot a course and I'll bring you there in no time.
Ashley: Fine. You did it. Plot a course to ...
EDI: Incoming mission ... fascinating. It's using a secret protocol only the crew of this ship should know.
Ashley: Let me hear it.
EDI: Channels open.
??? It's about time, EDI. I need someone to pick me up at Omega Station. I have no time for details, just pick me up. Waiting for you. Shepard out.
Joker: Guess that increases our chances to find him.
Ashley: You've got your destination. Maximum speed.
Joker: Aye-aye, ma'am.

Can't quote so I'll just say: Ash's grandfather is dead. In ME1 she says "Does it matter? He's gone now, Dad's gone too."
Grandfather != Father
Ashley's dad is dead, but it never was stated if her grandfather died too. Given the fact humans can get really old in the 22nd century, he could be still around. However, he's never mentioned at any point of the game, so we can headcanon Ashley's grandfather is dead.
Didn't we had a discussion dealing with the cause of Ashley's father's death?

No, her grandfather is dead. Shepard and Ashley are discussing her grandfather. Shepard says: "a you planning to throw face on a sword to save him?" or something. And Ash says, "Does it matter? He's gone now (her grandfather), Dad's gone too."
Funny, and I thought she said her Dad is gone now. Well, maybe it got lost in translation (have German ME1 only), and in that case, only her Dad died.

Speaking about, my headcanon!Ashley speaks numerous languages, including Spanish, German and Italian. Shepard is not that good with different languages. Well, he's better in other fields ...
@ Aurora
Dunno, I have no idea about General Williams, never read the book. Guess he's the typical hardass General - Shepard is shown as one who's not always following orders. In ME1 that's not that visible, in ME2 it's pretty much the very plot of the game, in ME3 ... well, he's only reporting to Hackett, but technically, Shepard does the job for Anderson. He's rarely obeying direct orders - Shepard MAKES orders ^^

But the comment Anderson makes at the start of ME1 regarding Shepard's background, it just implies to me that they are aqquainted with each other.

The only people Shepard actively salutes are Anderson and Hackett. I have the feeling they have a significant influence in Shepard's backstory somehow. Maybe Anderson was his training officer @ The Villa when he was doing the N7 qualifications. Or maybe Hackett was the one who put him in the program and Anderson was a supervisor looking for a new XO for the mission to Eden Prime.
But the comment Anderson makes at the start of ME1 regarding Shepard's background, it just implies to me that they are aqquainted with each other.
Well, it's known Anderson recruited Shepard for the N7 program (or is it known only by me?).
Hackett is far more difficult to explain. He's a legend, the Admiral that started as a serviceman 3rd class - and he worked his ass off to get promoted. Guess that gives him a closer connection to frontline soldiers and officers than anyone else. However, that does not explain why Hackett is involved personally with Shepard.
- why did Hackett support Shepard to become a Spectre
- why did Hackett still protect Shepard while he worked for Cerberus
- why does it feel in ME3 as if Hackett sees Shepard nearly as an Admiral as well?
Just asking. Especially the third point is interesting: Shepard is still a Lt. Commander, but does the job of an Admiral. He's directly responding to Hackett, not to the Council, means he's not working as Spectre here.
So the true question is: what's the connection between Hackett and Shepard?

RIGHT. Right. You are correct, sir. Forgot about that line. Scratch gramps from the surviving Williams clan. Though if Ash is as close to her family as she says, you'd think there'd be aunts, uncles, cousins and a huge extended family, though maybe they distanced themselves from her after what happened to her grandfather.BadExamp1e wrote...

@El Capitan: So there's already been speculation on how Ash's dad died? What was the consensus?
What might her parents' (and grandparents') names be? "Ashley, Abby, Lynn and Sarah" are pretty normal human (American at least) names, so Pappa and Mama Williams might be similarly ordinary.

I LOVE this pic! It's so dapper and refined. XD
So, here's something you folks might appreciate. New Ash fanart or at least fanart I haven't seen on this thread yet.

Shepard: Say, Ash, mind giving me my hoodie back?
Ashley: Sorry, Skipper, it's mine now. Gotta earn it.
Shepard: I'm serious, Chief! The only other thing I got is that ugly dress Allers wears! D:
Ashley: Nope.

All i got was 2 lousy emails from her & I know she´s popping up later as a Banshee. She newer shows up as herself or in Samaras body to meet her sisters. Seriously, I really think this is so cheap!

Well, in my headcanon for my canon FShep Azzandra, (Spacer/War Hero) she is his daughter. My canon MShep Thomas (Earthborn/War Hero) is like a nephew to him (Anderson fills the "father figure" role). I haven't thought too much about Admiral Hackett's connection with my other Sheps.CptData wrote...

In regards to General Williams, he doesn't make an appearance in the books (I've read the first two of the three that count). I believe he does in one of the comics (ME: Evolution?). As far as his belief in what Cerberus should be, I think it was more in line with Miranda's (Humanity's STG), not used to assure human dominance over other races (what Jack Harper/TIM wanted).
