Tired of sleeping on the floor, Drunk Ash stole chairs from the crew bunks while completely overlooking the fact there are totally useable beds in the crew bunks.

Ashley: Things have changed, Shepard ... everything is different now.
Shepard: The Normandy ... you're her captain now. And I'm just a passenger.
Ashley: It's not just that. Shepard ... don't you ask yourself why we're here now?
Shepard: You mean as two persons with entirely different lives?
Ashley: Yeah. Two different lives. Separated. You and me ... we thought it would last forever. And we broke up, nearly a year after the end of the war.
Shepard: It's okay, Ashley. I wasn't the same anymore. It took too long to recover and ...
Ashley: No, it is not okay. *takes breath* Just wonder if we should give us another chance, now that you're here.
Shepard: *looks at the Normandy* I don't know, Ash ...
Ashley: The Shepard I knew never had any doubts on his goals.
Shepard: *still avoids looking at Ashley* Yeah ...
Ashley: Shepard ... Skipper ... if you weren't the man I used to love, I ... I wouldn't even talk to you. But you are who you are and I wonder if ... if there's anything left of your former self.
Shepard: *closes eyes* I hope so ...

(Yeah, a sad variant of Shepley future - Shepard never fully recovered his injuries and suffered a major PTSD breakdown, resulting him to break up with Ash since he couldn't take it anymore. It's three years after the war ...)

Awww Data why you gotta say it like that?!?!? But it is an interesting variant on the Shepley future.

It is pretty quiet round here I have alot going on so I'll be away alot between now and Thursday but I'll try and post a few pro-Ashley comments in that time if I can.

We always explore a happy future for Shepley but have a tendency to ignore darker ideas. We assume Shepard is still the same after going through all the sh*t in ME1 - ME3 - but truth is, such events should break a person at some point.

So if Shepard breaks, the love for Ash may suffer too - maybe that's why they broke up? It's not said they never come back together again ^^

Yea that's a good point, I imagine those decisions along with the effects of 3 years of war are gonna change a person. I suppose it seems like Ash and Shepard actually need eachother by the end of ME3 but it is interesting to see a different viewpoint.

Btw what is this Earth: DLC? Is it just a multiplayer or anything worth getting?

Earth DLC is MP only, but it's for free, so if you ever plan to check that multiplayer mode, you better get it ^^

I really want to explore a "dark Shepley" future ... it's tempting to put both in such situation 'cause they can fight for their love again.

Eh, I like the idea that Shepley isn't all smiles and chocolate. My fic Idle Tears was a stab at how messed up they'd be if they managed to get together, Shepard in particular. Unless he's a heartless bastard, he'd probably have serious survivors guilt. Especially after destroying the geth and EDI. Been pondering several epilogues around that subject.

In some ways, death would probably be easier than having to deal with the rebuild effort. I wonder how many lives were lost? Since the Reapers focused on Earth but hit Palaven, Tuchanka, Sur'kesh and Thessia and pretty much wiped out the batarian race, that's what? A couple billion people?

Enough, Ren.

In my planned fanfic Shepley isn't everything about fluffy bunnies and such - and they don't even have to break up to run into the next crisis ^^

*heart gets destroyed, begins sobbing uncontrollably*

J/k.. I'm in a damn good mood today. Got a lot of **** sorted out, including my ship date. Now, if there's going to be any SP DLC with any Ashley goodness, it needs to come out soon otherwise I'll miss out.

Okay, I got a scenario involving a AU Ash, whose grandfather died during the Siege of Shanxi. However, my idea can be pretty much summed up as (former Staff Lieutenant) Ashley replaces Jacob and his role (as armory officer) on the SR2, but much more interesting. (I know, I know...Jacob always get the short end of the stick, more than Ash). Her character is different, with Ash being drummed out of the Alliance after her court-marshal, for not shutting up about Shepard's warning after the destruction of the SR1. Of course, Ash becomes a LI as well, and offers a stark contrast towards Miranda, as XO (Ash being 3rd in command of the SR2).

Would anybody be interested in reading some of it (as beta-readers) if I start writing it?

Eh, about Shepard after the war...

Edwin Shepard has problems, but not as much as you might expect. He lost his parents and nearly everyone he knew on Mindoir, but he bounced back. And growing up on Mindoir was tough itself. In my head canon, Mindoir is kind of a rough place, and Shepard had a younger sibling who died a few years before the slaver attack. Life wasn't fun and games for any of the colonists, they never got enough support from Earth and had to scrape along the best they could.

One of the reasons he was considered a good recruit for the N program was because in their psych evaluation they determined he had a much higher than usual ability to resist psychological trauma and slog through physical injuries. Those things actually came to bear during Elysium - he kept his cool, organized a counter attack, and at a point when most of his forces were killed, he single handedly held the line, then reorganized the resistance, even as he was physically injured.

He may be a paragon, and by ME3, he's starting to wear down a bit, but make no mistake, he's a tough bastard. He'll feel guitly about EDI and the geth, and he may need help at first, but in the end, he'll slog through.

Mass Effect 4 should definitely be set in a steampunk universe, that would be most triumphant!   B)

War changes people. Nothing felt truer than those three words. War had changed him. Broke him, ended his old life. Twice ...

Posted Image
Shepard: No, thanks. We already have ordered.
Waiter: Thank you, Sir.
Shepard: Well ... where did we stop, Ashley?
Ashley: We were talking about our time together. Tried to figure out why it failed ... why we broke up.
Shepard: Right. Ash, I told you, I wasn't the same and it was my mistake. The war has changed me ... and I'm not sure if I ever can become the man again I once was.
Ashley: Does it matter? You ... you are still Commander Shepard, first human Spectre, the savior of the Citadel. You defeated the Collectors, ended a thousand year old punishment for an entire race, ended a three hundred year war and ended the Reapers after a billion years of cyclic destruction.
Shepard: ... and that's why I'm no longer the young Lieutenant Commander that suddenly ended in a hunt for Saren. The one who picked you up on Eden Prime ... well, we both were there.
Ashley: I'm no longer a Gunnery Chief either. It's just a rank and you talk nonsense, you're still the same.
Shepard: And I died once, nearly twice - Ash, the point is ... I'm tired. I'm done, need a rest.
Ashley: Can't see any reason against that. Skipper ... okay. You need your time. I'm fine with that. But ... stop telling yourself you're no longer Shepard.
Shepard: Ash -
Ashley: Listen: it's just a start. You have to believe ... know you are Shepard. That's all I want for now.
Shepard: Ash, I'll give it a try, but ... why do you believe it's going to help?
Ashley: For starters? It stops breaking my heart and may give us some time to fix everything. Like Hackett said in his speech a while ago. Skipper, just do it. Don't ask why, do it.
Shepard: *nods*

Hmm, I think I see... Shepard just wants to hang out and enjoy the rank of savior of the galaxy. With Ash it's... problematic... Well, you know, all those fangirls and etcetera. ;)

But good emotional dialogue anyway. :)
