I like that they were different. It added a specialized kind of flavor to them. I just think that within that specialization they would have done better to make those different scenes more like the atmosphere of the ME1 scene.

...Now I have to replay and romance Ash again. ...Oh wait, there's youtube....

EDIT: Wow, my timing on Top Ashes the last couple times lets me know I've been posting too much today.  Anyway...

You can never post too much in here Badpie, just so long as it doesn't distract you from other Ash related things....>.>......haha. :D

Say they specialize the romances even further, and there's a unique love theme for each character; what would you want Ash's to sound like?

Oh wow. Um. Something with a violin in it. I'm a sucker for a slow violin playing in the background.Posted Image

Just found this picture and I think it's arguably the cutest thing I've seen in a while. And given that I am clearly a rough, tough manly man with no time for cuteness, I think that says something:

I'm glad she's back in the crew And that she let her hair grow out since ME 1,as far as I've seen from the previews.

Ultimately, the reason why Ashley became my favourite ME LI is the pre-ilos scene, because it is the best written, how it meanders between serious and playful is just the way I like it. The few seonds we see them kiss and touch each other are about simply feeling each other for the first time. There is hardly any need for extra kink in this. It is just beautiful in its simple way.

I don't see Ashley as someone who really is into the kinky stuff, too, though the spectrum what this can be is actually rather broad and, imo, everything that isn't strictly vanilla, so I can see her having fun with the more harmless variants. I definately can see her joking about being kinky and sometimes this might actually turn into trying it out. But it wouldn't become part of the regular program, so to speak. I picture her as the kind, that is just happy being with the one she loves without the need to spice it up.

My favourite ME2 "romance" scene is actually Samara's, though it doesn't go anywhere, but the conversation, where Shepard tries to seduce her, is the one that moved me the most and if Bioware decides against Ashley being open to s/s, I want at least this, her turning femShep down, empasizing how much she means to her as a friend, but she just doesn't want to get involved romantically. (But the ressources!)
Every ME2 romance has it's own kind of charm, though and the reason I might put Samara on top of the list is just the lack of an actual ME2-style love scene.

My personal template for my Ashley/Ewan romance is the Lightman/Wallowski - romance from the unfortunately cancelled TV series "Lie To Me", especially episode 3 of season 3, I don't know if anyone is familiar with it. They hardly talk about their feelings and you hardly see the exchange of affection, but there is so much chemistry and an ever present gravitational force between them, simply brilliant in its subtlety.

One of the things that is great about the Mass Effect relationships is that nothing is defined to death, there are just enough blanks left for the player to make them their own and that is why we have players coming together, who share the love for Ashley, but have different opinions about specific details and it's great that we can respect that.

I think the thing that made me frankly like Ash in the first one is how straightforward and to the point she was about just about everything EXCEPT her personal lie.

I'm curious about what triggers Ashley's sister to comment on Shepard or Kaidan being cute when you engage her with dialogue. Is it random or scripted if certain actions are taken?

Pretty sure the only deciding factor is if your on the romance path with Ash then the sister will say Shepard is cute, if not then the sister will say it's Kaidan.

Nope, it's the gender. Her sister will only acknowledge Male Shepard as being cute (Though I wish you were correct!0)

That is important to me too. Everyboy here has different ideas about Ashley and it would be a shame
if they distorted our view when they don't have to. I'm not saying that I don't want character progression, but some details of the character should be left to the player.

I don't think Ash is all that into kink, but if they would put kink in, my problem with it is that it will detract from the love these scenes should be about, in ME there was this feeling of genuine love between the characters, if you start showing or suggesting ''kinky'' stuff that would change the mood to me. It's better to leave that stuff to the imagination, it would keep more people happy.

I have several malesheps. Some have been called cute, in other cases it was Kaidan. One who ended up inadvertantly romancing Ash was called cute. My uber **** Renegade was not, and my high and tight, very military, "regulations" Shepard was not called cute either.

I, too, think they should keep it basic in game, focus on the love, that doesn't mean I can't add a few things in my (overimaginative) mind. I basically want the game to acknowledge that a special relationship exists, have a few line of special dialogue and a few extra cut-scenes and my mind will take it from there and once the Reapers are defeated, every one of my Sheps who wants it  and who is compatible with her characterwise, will have a future with Ashley, wether Bioware agrees or not.

I could have sworn, it was gender. This confuses me...

Another thought I had yesterday, when my current Shepard was having a drink at Afterlife. I don't like that Shepard has to drink alone, while the squaddies are standing by his/her side staring a hole into the wall. In ME3, i hope I can buy Ashley a beer, (and others too of course, just trying to keep it on topic.)

.. Just dropping by after a long time ..

I just want to say that there is no Mass Effect without Ashley Williams and good old crew to me .. and I hope there will be justice for Ash/Kaidan after how poorly executed they were in ME2 ..
------------------------------------------------------------
On BW note:
I've played ME1 exactly 7 times and I will be playing it once again in a near future .. ME2 only two times but I have no desire to play it again that much .. same situation with DA1 (9 times) and DA2 (once and no more!). I've been a fan of Bioware's work for a long time .. I'll probably never forget KOTORs, NWNs and BGs .. but times change and "sadly" so does games .. All I hope for is that ME3 will be at least half as good and unique as these games were.

I don't know .. to me Bioware's prestige deteriorated lately .. but that's just my point of view..
------------------------------------------------------------
I have this one big question for ya guys:

Well .. first of all .. I'm not judging anyone .. but could anyone tell me what exactly many of local people (well majority of fans) see on Tali? What exactly is it with her that draws them so crazy? With Liara I could understand .. blue people .. cool (geek's wet dream) .. Miranda's latex A** Effect that was used to sold ME2 (no comment) .. but with Tali I just don't get it ..

What kind of crazy fetish is it? xD
------------------------------------------------------------
Keep Ashley and Sheply love alive guys!!!

Hi Snowie. Good to see you again.

I hear what you're saying about Bioware in general. I agree somewhat.

As for why people love Tali, I can't really speak to that. I've never romanced her or anyone else but Ash really. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Everyone has a right to like whoever in Mass Effect so this thread really isn't a place to judge that.

I can tell you why I like Ashley though. Hehehe.

Hey ya Badpie .. It's good to see you too .. ;)

--------------------------------------------------
Teee heee .. It's obvious why we love Ash .. we see beautiful, strong, independent woman who takes no s*/t and blasts bad guys with her boomstick!  ^_^
---------------------------------------------------

It's just that I find it surprising that more fans are going for a strange robot face kind of a "girl" instead of Earth like type of a woman ... strange fetishes IMO. Whatever back then I knew this strange dude who had this thing for a four handed girl. -_-
---------------------------------------------------

Well screw that .. let's go back to Ash .. are there any other news about Ash except for a change of hairdo and Spectre rank (which rocks btw)? I heard from a friend there was some concern about Ash's armor?

Hey Snowie!

I've done all the romances, so all I can say for Tali is that she acts sort of cutesy around shepard when the romance is being pursued, bashful and timid, but at the same time ready to push their relationship further. It's sort of the Oppsite of Ashley, where she was "I don't need a man to make me happy" and "I like her, and you better like her too" when talking about herself. Some people can't handle a woman that's assertive and knows what she wants and is sort of aggressive to get it so in that aspect I an see where Tali's romance appeals to people since she's not nearly as Aggressive as Ashley is. That's my take on it though. Personally I love Ashley's assertiveness in the romance with Shepard it's a refreshing change from the damsel in distress you see for romance options in other games. Glad to see most of the ME LI's aren't that. Especially not Ashley Williams of the Special tactics and Reconnaissance branch of the Citadel.

@Snowie79; Hi! About Ash's armor, she'll have some! But we have no idea what it will look like, just a conformation that it's there.

I suppose people like the mystery surrounding Tali, that and her being an alien makes it advanturous. And like AD said she has a cute character and a lot of people like that.

@ADL; Yeah that's really one of the things that made Ash seem... more real than so many other game characters that aim to be real. If they can keep it like that in ME3, how they fill in the details won't really matter much too me. It's just that I'm not sure they (the other writers) can do that.

They're professionals. I know people give Mac Walters crap for the cerberus angle, but they foget he Wrote Wrex, Garrus, Mordin, and Aria. All of them are beloved Characters That people post pages and pages about.  It's not like the ME team of writers was just plucked out of a high school english class. I have faith that Ashley will be better than she was in Mass Effect 1.Posted Image

You're right, they are not bad writers at all, infact they all great writers, but the fact that Ashleys main writer (his name escapes me at the moment) left still worries me slightly. I suppose I'll have to wait with passing judgement (Posted Image)  till I've actually seen some conversation between Shep and Ash.  The main worry is though that with none of those other characters I felt like having an actual conversation as much as Ash. I guess I'm neither an optimist nor a pessimist.

That's true, just because her original writer left doens't mean antoher writer can't wirter her better. Hell I hea rmost of you saying Badpie should write ashley, and she's not Chris Letoile I think that's his last name) She's told me in editting my story that she loves how I write Kasumi, and I've had other users on BSN write things for Kallen Shepard and they capture her just as good as I do.Posted Image

ADL I think I might have said that about Badpie too..Lol. But I'm not all that worried about capturing her attitude. I'm more worried about the ''game'' apect of it: By which I mean that when you talk with Ash the special thing was (atleast to me) that you learned things about Ash AND Shep. Perhaps I do worry too much though..=p

True, but really the only thing we'll get to learn abotu Ashley is how she became a Spectre. we know about her family, her pre-Normandy career, andher family's blacklisting. the spectre thing can be done in one convo soI'm thinking that most of her andother people's comvo's (besides Vega's maybe since his backstory's gotta be revealed) will be based on what's happening in the game. more like the "what's your opinion on the last mission" convo's in ME1 with the LI's.Posted Image
