True, but really the only thing we'll get to learn abotu Ashley is how she became a Spectre. we know about her family, her pre-Normandy career, andher family's blacklisting. the spectre thing can be done in one convo soI'm thinking that most of her andother people's comvo's (besides Vega's maybe since his backstory's gotta be revealed) will be based on what's happening in the game. more like the "what's your opinion on the last mission" convo's in ME1 with the LI's.

That's kinda what bothers me, I want them to talk about stuff that's not mission related,it doesn't even have to be Ash related, as long is it helps progressing there characters. I understand if they'll talk about a lot of reaper related stuff, but the opinion on the last mission convo's weren't the ones that stood out to me in ME1.

Hello guys! Popping in from the Tali thread to hopefully share some insight and comparisons between Ashley and Tali.

Before Tali was romancable Ashley had always been my LI of choice. She was stern, upfront, she held refreshingly different views from my own that I could challenge yet respect. She also brought with her just enough emotional vulnerability to flesh her out without painting her the weak female. Fraternization issues aside, she was the best match for my shep by far.

However Tali brings a few similar traits to the Table. Tali is also a stubborn woman with fire in her belly. She also comes from a military background, has dad issues (albeit much less troublesome as she herself would admit.) She even comes from a large "family" like Ashley. However Tali also brings with her a few character quirks that give her a different "flavor"from Ashley.

Getting the obvious out of the way, Tali is a cute, shapely alien babe who adores shep. She is also an egghead, but not a nerdy girl like Liara. While she adores shep, she has no qualms in shooting fire at shep if he presses one of her beliefs, and is more than happy to pull out the shotgun when it's time. She is also quite capable of taking care of herself, like all Quarians she had to survive on her own in the universe.

So you see, she is quite similar to Ashley. She just diverges in a few areas that cater to different tastes.

Hey Nash. Thanks for dropping by. One thing I didn't like about tali was that, in ME1 if you were crappy to her (IE I have some Sheps that tell her flat out the quarians got what they deserved since they attacke dhte Geth without any signs of hostility) but Tali STILL was all"I love you Shepard!!!!" You can try that with Ashley in ME1 but you have to apologize to her before the romance can begin. With Tali it's as if she forgets that Shepard was cruel to her and is back to swooning once again. That's just my grievance with her romance andhtatI love that you can't be rude to Ashley if you want to keep talking her.

I was always bothered by that as well. As much as bioware touts the import mechanic, it seems romances are limited to a "did you romance me?" flag.

Ashely is a great character. Aside from horizon, ashley has always been my favorite human squaddie. In fact I usually rolled with Ashley and wrex in me1 most of the time.

No I wasn't bashing, why would I bash one of my favorite characters? I just wanted to point out that ashley and tali are actually quite similar, with only a few traits differentiating them.

I know Nash, just setting guidlines for comparison. Ashley and Tali both have their great qualities and it's nice to see people point them out on both.

Ah something similar yet different about Ashley and tali. Ashley is more concerned about her self respect than Tali. Tali coming from the flotilla, and bing the daughter of a well respected admiral has to sacrifice her feelings for the good of others. Ashley on the other hand is very protective of her name, and is the granddaughter of a "traitor." she holds herself in a high regard, and won't take an insult.

Which brings up another interestig parallel. Ashley family has fallen in disgrace because her grandfather surrendered to the invaders. Talis father falls into disgrace for actively trying to find new ways to defeat the invaders. Both were doing what they thought was the best course of action.

wow, that is an interesting parallel, I'd never really thought about that before. The parallel I'd always made wa that Ashley was wary of aliens and people calle dher racist, but tali was always extremly outspoken about her hatred for the geth andpeople sympathized, evne when it was the quarians fault and they passed their shirking of the blame down to their children and so on. Thanks for bringing that up Nash!

I think Bioware will make an effort to include more Ash in ME3 because...
A) Casey Hudson knows that disrespecting Ash WILL get an angry mob sent to his house.( I have a torch and pitchfork in my garage just in case)

They put the effort into changing her appearence and rank for the third installment, and making those changes for a character who isn't significant is pretty stupid, and Bioware does have some IQ going around.  So Ash will probably play an important part.

C) They read the forums.  People talk like Bioware hates them or something, but ultimately Bioware is doing everything in their power to do fan service in ME3.  (Lets just hope that all the ME2 guys don't just get cameos though, like the boys and girls from ME1 were unceremoniously tossed in the second act.)

And another note, people have learned a LOT about Ash in just one game, as several surprising character flaws and quirks were revealed without bloating the dialogue.  So don't be surprised if Ash has some traits that not everyone saw coming, or perhaps is still plagued with her fear of what she doesn't understand like in ME1.  Actually that second one would totally suck, because my Shep convinced her that non-humans are friends a long time ago.

I would take the game out and throw it against the wall. But I don't think that would ever happen; Bioware isn't like that. They wouldn't introduce a romance in the first game, exclude that character from the second game for reasons possibly related to plot armor (while hinting at possibly getting back together), and then axe the romance completely in one of the more anticipated games in the saga.

Ash is my favorite romance; Shepley is one of the main things I'm looking forward to in this game. I hope we get to see a continuation and culmination in ME3.

This may be slightly off-topic, but it should be noted that when you import a ME1 save file to ME2, it doesn't take into account how treated your crew. It just acts like you were nice to all of them. The only things that import are whether or not your recruited Garrus, killed Wrex, gave the geth data to Tali, who you left behind on Virmire, and who you romanced.

That's true Pseudo. That's what everyone's saying with Tali's romance, you could only say to her that she's wrong about the geth and she'll still be ready to romance Shepard no mater what, geth data or not. Ashley still talks great of Shepard if unromanced, same with Kaidan, and you hug Liara if you don't romance her no matter how you treated her and Garrus, Even when he's not recruited, tlaksto shepard like they've known each other like he was recruited from the start.

I'd say A and C. I'd say she likes that the htread welcomes anyone who likes her, since it promtes unity, and she'd be a little miffed we've forgotten about her for 2 hours. and she's be readying her boomstick

So do we have any chance of seeing some Ash at Gamescon? I know there have been rumours about them showing multiplayer (which would dissapoint me), but any chance for new SP content?

I don't think there'd be Ashley Content. Hell they're still working on the femshep trailer and that's Kaidan's territory for marketting, unless they also announce same sex in which Ashley and Femshep would be in the same trailer.

I was hoping on a little bit of new gameplay and since the E3 gameplay had Ash in it, that could mean that all gameplay will (I mean can) feature Ash instead of Kaidan.
