I'm with BP, even as a FemShep playing through with a romanced Kaidan was okay but not as satisfying. I'd rather have Ash alive and well as a best bud for my FemShep. <3

Raphael Sbarge was also Scorch from Republic Commandos. He also played a guy who was in love with his dead sisters head in Nip Tuck. And Kimberly Brooks has had just as many unflattering roles as awesome ones. To not like a character because you hate the role they played in a completely different story is just well... retarded. Kaidan is my favorite character but to completely play the game and to see all parts of the story I have at least one Shepard that has Kaidan dead, not because I hate Ashley or love Kaidan. I love story and like to see all parts. I suggest making a second Shepard, maybe one you won't get into as much and just see. There is no harm in that right?

Seriously though, I'm weird and I have a select little group of my favorite squaddies and I just can't let anything happen to them:
Ash
Miranda
Garrus

Like, I'll never do an ME3 playthrough where Garrus isn't alive either, even to see what it's like.  I just... can't.  Same for Miri.  I used to include Mordin on this list, but I have shot him in the back, so I guess not.

And I'm quite aware RS is a good actor.  I said I liked him in Once Upon a Time.  I just didn't like Carth back when, and now I'm an ash-addict who can't let her die.

@krukow, That is fine, trust me its really hard for me to kill Kaidan despite how much I love Ashley too. Still bothers me you can't have both. I'm sure you guys have already talked about it, but they cut the possible to save them both. There was dialogue recorded for it and everything. It would have been very difficult to do but it was do-able. Just saying I never understand the 'I hate so-and-so because they played so-and-so,' it always leaves me a little perplexed.

True, if there was a way to save them both, I would.  Plus, then they'd both have company as they're both locked in starboard observation.

I'm currently sitting in my truck in the cell phone lot waiting to pick up someone from the airport, only their flight was delayed 30 minutes and I didn't know... >

I really liked Carth and I really liked Kaidan. What can I say, I really fond of career military type characters. And, I really hated leaving Kaidan behind on Virmire. That Virmire decision is one of the most important decisions in the entire trilogy. I see it as a way to give players a important decision and to feel the consequences of that decision. However, in hindsight, there could have been a lot more ways to feel the burden of command while both saving Ash and Kaidan.

I also got a nice impetigo skin infection going on, right on my chin...its sooooo fracking annoying!!!!

Lol none taken. Hell I almost always play as Sheploo because I love the romance for Shepley. ^_^
And I hate it when that happens. That happened with me and my sister only she could've told me but she chose not to.

I really dislike when people say they killed someone on Virmire. That is not the case. Both of them decided to sacrafice themselves for the sake of the mission and both tell you to save the other and feel bad when they're on the Normandy when the other is dead. Saren killed them when he sent that ship to the bomb site. Shepard doesn't kill anyone.:innocent:

Since you guys were discussing Virmire...

I think it was important to have a decision like that.

My only problem is that it made Ash and Kaidan interchangable after ME1. They used to be entirely different people. After ME1, they have the same story, even if elements of their personality are different.

You should have had your choice of three or four people you could leave behind on Virmire. That way, two characters wouldn't have become interchangable in terms of story - they'd have to develop seperate stories for all of them.
