Yeah, I get the impression when Ash and Shepard snuggle, he tends to rest his head there. And thirty seconds later, he's out like a light. Ashley finds it funny, but not when she found out the hard way that Shepard drools in his sleep.

It's quite a challenge, but what if Ash and Shep break up 'caused by Shepard's PDST that places a huge burden on their relationship? I wonder how they break up and if they ever get back together ...

I'd say they'd break up, probably try and start new relationships. But I figure Shepard and Ashley are - to coin a phrase - each other's 'true love'. The only way they can be truly happy is together. When they've pull their heads back together, or at the very least get some treatment for PTSD.

If they break up, it would be after a loud argument ending with one of them quietly walking out the door. And when they get back together, it would probably be a trick of fate that they meet again (after they're both considerably more stable). They're be angry with each other, but eventually rediscover their love for one another.

That part "true love" is tempting to explore.

Think you're right. They can't be without each other, but sometimes you need to give up something to find out about its value. In that case Ash and Shep may find out they are meant to be together, no matter what. They can't be happy without knowing the other one is waiting at home or doing a job to ensure there's a future together. Something like that. It may sound cheesy, but it isn't. Shepley is pretty much a "battle couple", they fight together, they live together, they love together and die together. Easy as it is.

Think the one and only cause why they might break up (temporary) is, as I said, that Ashley can't take seeing a PTSD-broken Shepard that cries in sleep and hurts her when he can't control his anger anymore. Of course, Ash knows she needs to be there for him so he might heal over time, but truth is: no matter how much you love someone, if that one is broken, twisted and horribly disfigured (as a character), that love is tested beyond the point it'll survive.
It doesn't mean it's gone forever. It may take a while to come back. For Shepley it may heal at the same rate as Shepard: the more he turns into his own self by overcoming PTSD, the more the love comes back.

Eh. After ME3 I always saw Ash and Shepard sticking together no matter what. When it gets tough, they'll find strengh in each other. The only way I can see them ending is if Shepard leaves Ash without saying a word, or Shepard dies.

My EB Shepard fell for Ash because -  Well, for starters, she's hot. But mostly because she had a habit of seeing past the whole 'Hero of Elysium' thing and made the effort to get to know him as a person. Not just an idol. Also, he thought the poetry thing was kind of weird, but kind of badass. All my Shepards have a thing for cultured chicks. Honestly, he intended just to be a friend, however, he eventually realised that he was developing very real feelings for her (around about the mission before Virmire) and really wreslted with himself on whether or not to act on them...

Well, if I can't stay up the whole night talking to a girl about everything, there's a big chance that girl isn't the right one. Not needed all day, but now and then and should happen the first few dates. Nothing is more boring than a date where you don't learn anything new about her

Any idea what Shepard and Ash talk all night long? They surely have a lot of stuff in mind
