Question: What would Ash think if Shepard had actually become a Reaper over the 2183-85 time period (Liara couldn't save his corpse and it ended up in collector hand) but still maintained his... I suppose 'conciousness' or 'soul' might be the appropriate words...? How would Shepard convince her that he was still fighting for the galaxy when he became the very thing he hated and fought against?

Just a silly little thought I had. So far, I've only heard one story about that hypothetical scenario...

Ashley should have a poetry collection on her Omnitool. If she had a SB dossier I'm sure that would have been a file, all the poetry books she owned or downloaded.

Ashley should have had a SB dossier!! T_T

Would have been interesting to see what they would have put in there.

What besides her poetry would you have put in there had it been up to you? (This question goes to everyone, not just ADL lol)

Also, that was a lovely article badpie! Sadly, you don't see many like that on the interwebs these days. I'm afraid, to everyone but us Ash fans, she will be forever remembered as the racist in Mass Effect. :(

@Reed; I would put some family stuff in there, perhaps how she was raised as a kid,
Actually, I don't suppose Ash had a very exciting life as in out of the ordinary, until Shepard showed up. I would have put some secrets about Ash in there, perhaps some family trouble, former relationships and something about what happened in the time Shep was dead (not too much though)

About the racist thing, there is still Mass Effect 3 to convince people otherwise! Some people will be too prejudiced to ever change there minds about Ash, but Ash has been around since ME1 and Ash has gotten atleast a bit more used to working with aliens..so by my logic she should feel less precautioned certainly when every race's survival is at stake.

@aurora: at least they kept his mighty fine ass intact? Posted Image I'm not sure really.

@errol; Good news indeed! I would hate it if they shared a lots of lines.

All Ash fans should probably see this link (unless you don't want to be spoiled about possible events within ME3) http://masseffect.li...om/1077070.html Pretty concerned now about what this scene could mean...

Here's the quote from the New York article...

"Shepard, however, is forced to save one character and sacrifice the other, and, in Mass Effect 2, whichever of the two was saved reappears to remonstrate with him or her. The result of the conversation, which can play out in various ways, determines how the character of A/K will interact with Shepard in Mass Effect 3."

"The new scene involves a tense exchange between Shepard and A/K. The first line of the scene was simple enough: 'Let her/him go.' But Hale had to say it multiple times, with different emphases, in order to communicate every possible state of alarm with which Shepard would react to A/K. Hale did her customary four takes of "Let her go," which she followed with four takes of "Let him go." Two were growly, hateful takes, and two were hard, urgent takes. As she finished, Hale flexed as if to indicate a deepening transformation into Shepard. She was then told that her lines had to be recorded as though she were running.

Hale's next line was 'No!' Livingstone turned to Walters and asked, 'Is this a panicked 'No' or an angry 'No?''
'It's a' - Walters hesitated - 'futile 'No.''
Hale nodded. 'No!' she said, stirringly, a moment later.
'More compassion,' Livingstone said. 'Less heightened.'
Hale tried again, and her 'No!' seemed to emerge from some alarmed, half-strangled place in her throat."

There's so much left there to imagination and interpretation there's no point in even speculating.

It bothers me, but there's no context at all. I can think of a dozen different scenarios for that dialogue. So, I'm not gonna panic.

Wait, I started panicking months ago...... nvm

I wish I would stop losing clump-fulls of hair in the months leading up to the release of Mass Effect games.

Sorry but... yelling "let her go" ... then yelling a "futile" No!... only a couple things that can happen.... and only one ends happily.

Why would they put a spoiler that HUGE in a magazine six months before launch? It can't possibly be as obvious as it appears.

I have a digital copy of the New Yorker and I was briefly thinking about bringing it up.
I figured it is about Ash/Kai finding the Fornax magazine, you purchased on Omega.
They run away with it and Joker tries to stop them, hence the "Let her/him go!"
The "futile 'No!'" is the result of them ripping the magazine in half.

edit. Ok, serious now. It already had been hinted at that cheating on your LI might have dire consequences.
My mind immidiately went there, when I was reading the article.
Even if something bad can happen to them, it doesn't have to happen in my playthroughs. This is a game with a story that can play out in various ways, remember!

edit2: Just came across a poll, that lacks votes for Ash!

Balak has taken Ash hostage, holding a gun to her head...

Shepard: "Let her go!"

Balak: "You took everything from me! Now it's time I return the favor! Mwahahaha!"

Shepard: "NO!"

Ash then grabs Balak's arm, pivots, and slams him to the ground. The gun, which flew into the air, lands in her open palm.

I'm really trying not to read that article, I hate spoilers.  Apparently something big is happening with Ash in it, right?  And from what I'm understanding it's not good :(.  Oh man, I don't know if I'm going to be able to resist!

I can't tell if the article indicates that "let her/him go" is directed AT Ash or Kaidan or ABOUT them.  Seems like from the way it's written Shepard is talking TO them.

Either way is bad.

1. Ash is captured by someone/something and Shepard yells no as they take her away.

2. Ash is betraying Shepard.

/pessimist.

I understood it the same way. As if Kaidan and Ashley are holding someone hostage and Shep is directing his "Let him/her go" AT A/K.
