- Don't keep me informed. They have my number and e-mail address, there is no excuse for not contacting me.
- Don't let me in on what their planning
- Changing our group topics behind my back
- Language barrier prevents me from getting any work done.
- Unjustly calls ME out when I'm trying to figure out what the f*ck is going on. And we have an assignment due in two days apparently. F*cking winner combination.
- Worse - I got shafted with them and most likely can't change groups this late in the game.
Dear god. Why can't I be Shepard and a SpecTRe and not just punch them out?
Sorry Shepley fans, Sorry Ashley. Not going to be here for a very long week.

Sorry to hear that.
Funny how common custody is a problem, no matter where you are from.
Hope it turns out in the end for you.

Please rate, review and comment.
In all his years of experience, Shepard never did consider the thought that he might a “Knight Complex”. He knew his strengths and more importantly his weaknesses. He knew when to push hard and when to pull back. But now, he feared he had pushed too far.
They had stumbled into a firefight that raged between two platoons worth of quarian marines and batarian soldiers. The air sizzled and sparked as rounds tore through armour and flesh. Pinned down by the bulkhead, Ashley covered Shepard, as he desperately tried to rewire the control display for a nearby door.
“Geth don’t create structural weaknesses, my ass!” He snarled, as an errant wire sparked dangerously close to his face. The headaches were back and were in full force and the firefight nearby wasn’t helping.
CRACK! CRACK!
Ashley put down two batarians whom tried to rush them, her powerful rifle ripping through their vulnerable throat armour. Ever since their arrival on the dreadnaught, Ashley has stayed close to Shepard, watching his back and acting as his bodyguard.
“Status on that rewiring?” She called out to Shepard, as she ducked behind a column to reload her rifle. Leaning forward, she managed to scoop another set of thermal clips, slipping them into her bandolier. She had been covering Shepard for the past ten minutes, as he frantically tried to rewire the nearby door to let them in. The nearby firefight was only growing more intense as both sides brought more reinforcements to bear on each other. She could only guess what the outside orbital battle looked like.
“It’s….done!” He roared back, as the doors slid slowly open and light spilled out from the reactor within the room. Throwing himself forwards, Shepard rolled through the door and then pirouetted to cover Ashley’s retreat.
Quickly Ashley threw herself from cover, her powerful legs powering her towards the door, her head tucked down as errant fire ricocheted off the bulkheads She could hear Shepard, fire his pistol three times and death gurgles of batarians as she barrelled through the door. Seconds later, Shepard slapped the door panels and the door slid to a close again.
After what seemed to be an eternity, silence finally greeted the pair. Tiredly, Ashley pulled Shepard to his feet, her observant eyes catching his brief grimace of pain as he rose up. Damn it, they both needed a rest from whatever madness the galaxy seemed to suffer from. The end of the Reaper War had not been kind to them, as the pair had shuttled around the galaxy, making contact with whatever survivors they could find and keeping the old alliances strong. Whether it was ensuring Wrex’s survival on Tuchanka or dealing with fanatical Cerberus remnants, Ashley estimated that they had at most maybe a week’s worth of rest.
A goody grin appeared on Shepard’s face and she had to smile back, as they inspected their surroundings.
“A Geth reactor room, Skipper.” She quipped, as they made their way to the drive core control panel “You sure know how to treat a girl.”
“I was going to take you dancing on top of dead reaper.” Shepard deadpanned “But then the council freaked out.”
For a second, the humour defused the situation as Ashley let out a dry chuckle. Shepard leaned forward and studied the display. During the past years, the pair of them had spent enough them fighting through geth structures that they had a rudimentary understanding of the basic principles.
Shepard’s plan was deceptively simple. Fight or sneak their way to the dreadnaught’s main reactor and hope the two factions were to busy killing each other to notice them. Overload the drive core, thus convert into a drive core and then make their way to the hangar of geth fighters. Easy in theory…difficult in practice.
Ashley covered Shepard as he furiously entered commands into the drive core’s terminal. Ironically it was quite easy for Shepard, as all Geth platforms had an understanding of drive core mechanics and thus the console had no built in safety precautions.
“It’s done.” Shepard breathed out, as he straightened up.
“What no countdown? No alarm?” Ashley queried as she handed Shepard another pair of thermal clips "Not very dramatic, Skipper."
“Geth don’t need countdowns...or drama”
“Sucks for everyone else.”

Considering how much the Williams family is looked down upon in the Alliance, Ash's abrupt skyrocket to CO is pretty stupid. Because surely there are a few ****s in high positions who don't care how well she does or how hard she fights, she'll always be the granddaughter of a man who made the humans look weak.
At least it should have been a conversation topic with Shepard, since in ME1 Ash and Shep talked about how Ash was willing to fall on a sword over her family's name and how now she's making her own name.
I think that this is my top 'you have failed me bioware when it comes to Ash' reason. Its like she was frozen in time beetween ME 1 and ME3

Also, that Top Shep on the last page doesn't last long. Apparently Ash likes to be on top during "those times" so she takes care of that issue. Was the same way in ME1.

1. She's the only one who's dealt with these "reaper" things (that the alliance isn't sure about).
2. She is the only one who worked directly with Shep, who must still be respected seeing as how he was never tried/courtmartialed, and didn't join cerberus.
3. She has done some pretty impressive stuff (she helped save the citadel, was diong top secret classified stuff in ME2).
I mean, it's a stretch, but I can reconcile it. It's not like Liara going from starstruck teenage archeologist to super awesome information broker in 2 years...

I've never had *that* big a problem with her rank increase. Once she makes the jump from enlisted to officer (which is the biggest stretch just from a timeframe), I could see the moving her up so fast for a couple reasons:

I agree, but it's not the fact that she got promoted that bothers me, it's the fact she doesn't really even say how she got promoted. We don't even get the conversation to learn what was she doing for the last three years. That top secret classified stuff - we never learn what that was. It's like BW doesn't even want us to know what happened in her life from the end of ME 1 to the begining of ME 3.

Maybe we'll get a comic book someday?
You know, after they've done 184 for Liara, and 10 each for every other Asari character...
Also, and I don't know why this never hit me before, but the Normandy was supposed to be Anderson's mobile command unit. Maybe he requested Ashley for his XO. He, more than anyone, would know her history and respect her. And I'm pretty sure Admirals can pick their XO's...

Yeah, the big explanation, how Ash got promoted is missing. Actually, it's one of the points why I hate Ash got shafted that much: new players learn NOTHING about Ashley, old players learn NOTHING NEW about her.
That promotion isn't the biggest issue but definitely one that needs to be addressed. Other issues like "what did Ash do in those two years", the connections of her to Cerberus, her PoV on the romance / friendship, how she took the death of Shepard ... all the jazz.

in BSG adama goes from being a cmdr to an admiral just because hes the highest ranking officer in the fleet. even though he was set to retire and botched his last important mission before takeing command of galactica.
in star wars luke gose from being a raw recruit with no military experiance or trianing in the first movie, and becomes a Lt.cmdr and the leader of rogue sqaudron the rebellions ace fighter squadron in the empire strikes back just because he can use the force and blew up the death star.
and in the most recent star trek installment Kirk gose from being a cadet who cheated on his exam and was on suspension to the rank of captain and is given the command of the most advanced flagship in the federation fleet. just because he saved earth.
so ash's rank jump dosent really bug me at all. although i do wish it would have been a topic for disscusion between ash and shepard so we could know exactly why and how it happned. would have been interesting.
oh, and greetings ash thread and fellow ash fans *waves*

Well, in his case, he got the promotion for being the most experienced officer - promoting him does make sense, sort of.ashlover mark 2 wrote...
i chalk rank jump up to "sci-fi military protocol" in almost every mainstream sci-fi contiuning story the heros always get massive rank jumps.

If Ashley were the last high ranking officer of the Alliance, someone would make her to an Admiral or General as well - even if it doesn't make any sense. After all, she has nearly no commanding experience for larger military units than a squad. Adamo has.
It did happen to Balak, by the way: he's the highest ranking officer of the Batarian Hierarchy and got promoted to their leader. And we all know Balak is a terrorist and not a fine officer and gentleman.
You can say the same about Han Solo. He used to be an imperial officer before leaving and becoming a smuggler with a hefty bounty on his head.in star wars luke gose from being a raw recruit with no military experiance or trianing in the first movie, and becomes a Lt.cmdr and the leader of rogue sqaudron the rebellions ace fighter squadron in the empire strikes back just because he can use the force and blew up the death star.
He suddenly became a general somewhere between SW V and SW VI ... well, he never did anything that granted him this rank. He's not used to command a full military body - and for any kind of special operation on squad-level you don't need a general, just a captain, maybe a colonel.
That entire movie was bull ...and in the most recent star trek installment Kirk gose from being a cadet who cheated on his exam and was on suspension to the rank of captain and is given the command of the most advanced flagship in the federation fleet. just because he saved earth.
Promoting Kirk after 3 out of 4 years of Academy to a captain was so hard bull I couldn't take it. That's like beating Wesley Crusher to captain of the Enterprise - and that guy did far more.
Really, as a Star Trek fan I can say, that movie was a pile of ... yeah. The action was good, but everything else failed and killed canon.
Welcome on board. Are you ashlover without Mark 2?so ash's rank jump dosent really bug me at all. although i do wish it would have been a topic for disscusion between ash and shepard so we could know exactly why and how it happned. would have been interesting.
