Massive spoilers isn't right. Disturbing and possibly unique implications on the other hand...

Two possible situations to that spoiler thing that hasn't been mentioned yet (I think).

1) Horrid Shepard - Shepard was a douche on Horizon, Shepard cheated on them, Shepard is a douche in ME3. VS gets fed up and leaves the team all together. (Other squad mates try to stop them, Shepard simply says to let him/her go.)

2) ZOMBIE VIRMIRE CASUALTY - THE ONE YOU LEFT ON VIRMIRE IS TOTALLY UNDEAD AND INDOCTRINATED AND HOLDING THE VS HOSTAGE. OH NOES!!1!

Shepard would have to do something really messed up for Ash to pull a gun on him. I could maybe see her leaving though, with a  "I'm sorry..I just can't stay when you did...blah blah blah. You've changed." But as I said it would have to be such a screwed up thing to make her leave. I doubt she would leave if you cheated on her either

Ash is one few people I doubt would turn on Shepard, Speically with whats going on. If Shepard going to be betrayed, I suspect it's going to be by someone who we never expected would turn on us.

I would be more worried about Bioware throwing a few of the Squad mates into life and death situations, Where not everyone will make it to the end.

About the Article, It's possible That Scene will change if Ashley is not with you. If say Garrus and Liara are with you, Liara may be taken hostage if it's truly a hostage situation.

We need more information to understand whats going on in this Scene.

For all we know Ash could be taken hostage, Shepard tells whoever has her to let her go. That Person does something like try to throw Ashley off a Building Shepard says no. Shepard or another Squad Mate Catches her just in time(Similar what Happenend in the Collector Base).

I truly doubt Bioware is going kill off your Romance, unless it's a consequence of a Wrong Decision that was made earlier in the game.

In my mind, if Ashley would ever betray Shepard, it would be because she would have been put in a position where it was either the man she loved or her whole family. Including her mother, that would be five people, not including any neices or nephews she may possibly have. In most definate probability, it would be the Reapers screwing with her mind.

In my world, I have two shepards running at once, Commander Jonathon-Carter (just Carter to friends) Shepard, and Major Jethrou "Jet" Douglas (formally Jethrou-Douglas Shepard). Their twins but Carter follows the plot of the Spectre, Jet has his own role to fufill and sometimes they occasionally clash. If Ash pointed a gun at Shepard, then they would clash again.

I imagine Ashley shedding tears or something very heart breaking, her gun would be trailed on Shepard, who would be pleading for her to stand down. Probably very close to the following.

Her finger tenses and squeezes the trigger, Shepard braces himself for the end. There is no way he would fight the woman he loved. He didn't have the heart to raise his gun to defend himself, the woman he had fought for now was about to shot him. The gun went off, but her firing arm was tossed up like an invisible hand smacked it up. Her posture slagged and eyes closed slowly, though overcome suddenly by something unknown. Carter ran to catch her, though strangely her desecent hadn't lasted more than a second before she stopped. Caught by some invisible force. A thin membrane of bended light peeled away from a human-like shape. First a pair of hands and feet appeared, then the membrane further peeled away, revealing legs that were now kneeling on the ground, torso and shoulders next, then finally the head. It disintergrated revealing the heavily scarred face of Douglas who set Ash down on the ground gentle, kicking the sidearm from her hand.

After a good night's sleep the first thing I see is AD talking about Ash and Jacob getting it on and somebody is throwing Vega into the mix.

The VS will also always be killed irreversibly=/= fanservice.

I think it was always pretty obvious that Ash can die in ME3, that's in keeping with the series, but it doesn't mean that she has to die...there is to little info to go on here, whilst there might not be many situations in which these lines fit, there are plenty of ways this could end...You gloriously reunite with Legion who shoots the one who holds her hostage for example...

Not really a reason to get terribly depressed, slightly depressed atmost.

Choice A: Ashley lives But Other person/situation is unavoidable

Choice B: Ashley dies but Other person/situation is avoided

It might be
one path that can only play out due to the players choices. Bioware
would be stupid to make her death or any Squad Member unavoidable without some kind of player input.

The suggested that some deaths might be unavoidable will most likely be of a key NPC's like Anderson or Joker.
