I just don't get the grimdark breakup headcanon's. It's not like they met and had a whirlwind romance over the course of a couple months while at war. They've known each other for years. They stayed together after the events of ME1 and were only seperated when Shep died. Then they get back together, having stayed loyal even when apart (at least the way I played it).

Seriously, I don't get where the breakup stuff comes from. You people... :P

'cause sometimes I'm a heartless b*st*rd ^^
You guys just don't know all of my sides. I can be the fluff lover - and I can be a real ass. It's all the same package *g*

So sweet ... so vulnerable ^^

@krukow:
Hmmm, mostly 'cause Shepard is a PTSD wreck ... well, that's one of the few valid reasons why Ash couldn't take it anymore.

Ash question. I was debating in the Miri thread her opinion of this, but let me ask you all. On horizon, why doesn't Ashely point out that Cerberus MURDERED Admiral Kohaku (spelling? Too lazy to check)? I mean, illegal experiments are one thing, but Cerberus murdered alliance officials.

I feel she was negligent in her duty there...

It would seem that the writers forgot about
- The Dragon's teeth experiment on innocent colonists
- Murdering an Alliance Admiral
- And luring Alliance marines to thresher maw sites

I think if the Bioware writers brought that up, it "ruin" the ending. It make the destroy or hand over the collector base to the Cerberus choice a no brainer.

Without knowing the above three facts, I'd think Cerberus is just a an "edgy" group, an organization that is dedicated to preservation of humanity.

Knowledge of the three facts makes them the bastard child of the ****s and the KKK. With a whole lot of money.

i agree

however alot of me2 players had not played me1 so would not know what was going on or attach the relevance to what cerberus had done.

so think bioware just chose to ignore them same as why they did not allow ash to be a interactive LI as new players to the game would not understand who ash was and why you would want to speak with her.

i always though they should have put some more contact in after horzion instead of the mail maybe an off duty ash in the Citadel in one of the bars so we could have some sort of chat with her get the same sort of outcome as the mail but more involved  to give something to the me1 players

This is a good point.  I was an ME2 player before I was an ME1 player (I was a Mirimancer for a long time before Ash won me over) and the Horizon scene just made no sense to me.  I was fine with Cerberus.

Then I played ME1 and saw all their side missions and was like "hey, wait a minute..."

I like the ending of this cut dialog. ^_^

Can this scene please be re-added with any upcoming Patch/DLC? We need more interaction with Ashley onboard Normandy!

Ashley: Hey Skipper ...
Shepard: Hey ...
Ashley: Was in the neighborhood and thought I should visit you. How are you doing?
Shepard: Don't know. Sometimes I'm calm, everything seems to be okay ... then I wake up screaming. Guess that's the prize I have to pay for being a "legend". *sarcastic*
Ashley: No, don't say that.
Shepard: Why not? It's the truth. You didn't die. You didn't had to see the stuff I had to-
Ashley: That's not right and you know that. We went through it together, remember? We fought the Reapers on Earth ...
Shepard: *closes eyes* and can you see them in your dreams? I see them. Reapers. Husks. Banshees. As soon as I close my eyes. I don't even have to sleep. They're there, right in my mind.
Ashley: They're gone, Shepard. You should let them go too.
Shepard: *laughs* and how? That's what the shrink tries for two years now. They don't go. Seems as if their spirits have decided to haunt me till the end of my life.
Ashley: Let me help you then, I -
Shepard: No. No more help.
Ashley: Why? Why don't you allow your girlfriend to help you?
Shepard: Because you can't! You'll break too. There's a reason why I'm still here. No one can help me. That's one last fight between my sane mind and the nightmares haunting me. One last battle - and I have to do it alone.
Ashley: Says who? John ... please. Let me help you *grabs for his hand*
Shepard: *withdraws hand* You ... you should go now.
Doctor: He's right, Commander Williams. He's going to get another sharp attack.
Ashley: I can help, Doctor-
Shepard: GO! Ash, you can't help me. Doctor send ... her off this room. She must not see this ... *closes eyes, sweating heavily*
Doctor: You heard Shepard, Commander. Please follow me.
Ashley couldn't see when Shepard screamed in horror and pain. The nightmares haunting him for years now where back, destroying him more and more with every single attack ...

Not really a break up but a realistic setting for post-war Shepard.
Also I wonder if a lengthy period of PTSD that gets worse and worse with every passing day is too much stress for Ashley. Doubt she can take it forever.

Eh, my Shepard survived seeing his entire family and everyone he knew get killed when he was only 16. My theory is that he has an unusually strong ability to handle emotional trauma.

Phew, Wrath of Thunder is taking longer than expected. Here's an excerpt of one Williams more introspective moments. Please rate, review and comment. Takes place between ME1 and ME2

Docking Bay
SSV Shanghai
Terminus Systems

Operations Chief Ashley Williams wearily leaned against the seat in the cramped Ut-47 dropship as it landed in the Shanghai’s docking bay. In her hands she cradled her beloved and heavily modified X8 Avenger assault rifle and she blew an errant piece of hair from her face.

The last operations had been damned hard one. It started out as a standard “save-the-colony” operation; execute a HALO jump, link up with the locals and wreak havoc on the unsuspecting slavers. Instead they landed to find almost all the colonists dead or captured and had to race to cut off the slavers from taking their prizes to their transports. It had been a hard, brutal running gunfight, the two sides hurling as much ordinance as possible at each other, as they tried to cut each other off.

In the end it had been almost anti-climatic, when the troopers finally surrounded the slavers and their prize. A barrage of flash-bangs, followed by a rapid assault had surprised the slavers and they managed to save the locals that had been captured. A cold comfort that was, for out of the colony of two hundred, only twenty had survived.

Ashley could only imagine the grief that the families would have to bear. Sons, daughter, fathers and mothers all would have to bear the pain and loss on having their loved ones snatched away from them. There would be no military ceremony, no final taps, no salutes. Just the cold, bitter reality and lost memories.

Moments like these, Ashley hated the Terminus systems. Hated the ever-shifting balances of powers, hated the mercenary companies that conducted slaving raids on the side, hated the council’s reluctance to step in an install some order. Dammit! She joined the Alliance to defend humanity, regardless of what colour they wore and where they lived.

But she had to remind herself of the reality. No one had the resources to send in an armada to “civilize” the denizens of the Terminus systems. No one had the political will to go through decades of constant warfare with the variety of despots, tyrants and “governments” that made up the Terminus. Not with the Reapers on their way, though everyone seemed to ignore it.

For brief moments Ashley considered leaving the Alliance and tracking down Garrus. Maybe they could form an independent company, recruit specialists to prepare for the Reapers and forge alliances.

“You’re not Shepard.” Ashley silently chided herself, as she stared at the cold durasteel floor “you’re an alliance soldier, true and true. You’d never disobey the Alliance and you most certainly don’t have his charm”

That was the bitter truth. She didn’t have Shepard’s ability to charm people to his side, or his knowledge of when to us brute force and when to use cunning. She was a soldier…but a damned good one. She knew when advance or when to hold a position. She knew how to precisely apply force or when to set a trap. Give her a tactical situation and she’d figure out a solution.

That was her strength. And when the Reapers arrived, that was what she would have to rely on. Till then she would serve the Alliance loyally and do her part to prepare her comrades for war.

As the drop shuttle finally landed, she wearily rose to her feet, dragging her rifle behind her. She need a shower, hot food and some sleep. Maybe the Reapers would have the good sense to grant her that modicum of mercy.

If I'm not mistaken, this puppy face occurs when you turn her down for the romance scene. In which case, you've broken her heart. Again. So in a sense, yes, she is vulnerable.

Do you guys think Ashley would want a big wedding, not one at all, or just sign the papers and get to the honeymoon already?
For my Shepard's story, she would want a wedding with close family and friends (the crew). It would have a small amount of people with no press, but it would be a traditional wedding. I think she would want that since she is very family oriented. My Shepard would just want to be with her no matter what, cause he's crazy about her :P And of course he would want to marry her, whatever she is comfortable with.

I'm totally going to delve into nerd territory here but I think it'd be similar to when Anakin and Padme get married in Episode 2 (Star Wars).

Just them in a secluded place with two or three witnesses.

Ok, that was way more sappy than I originally intended it to be.

I think a medium sized wedding (yes, they get married in my headcanon at some point, once things have gotten back to semi-normal). 40 people or so. All of the sisters, crew (except Allers!), etc. And they're both religious (in my playthrough) so I could even see it being a church wedding. Or outside by a lake (lakes are pretty yo!).

Hey survivor, that was a great part of Ashley for me. You captured her really good because to me that's how she thinks. She says it herself, Alliance is in her blood. It's cool to see a little of what Ashley would be doing while Shepard is off fighting the Collectors :)

So...any comments?

Also wrt to the wedding: I'd see my Shepard marrying Ashley in a small ceremony. Just the crew of the Normandy in attendance, Shepard's mother (he's a spacer in my headcanon) and Ashley's immediate family.

No press, no nothing....until Allers tried to sneak in.

Lol same here. They're both religious and there would be no Vega or Allers! Maybe do Emily Wong another little favor by giving her some never before seen pictures XD. But yeah, I imagined them getting married alongside a beautiful lake or church as a wonderful sunset appears overhead...
Ah I kinda forget that scene BP, but was it a little like the Braveheart marry scene? Although only the priest was present in that one. Her three sisters and Tali would be her bridesmaids. Garrus, Grunt,, and two other people (would be Thane and Mordin but NOOO...) lol Thane was my Shepard's best bud. Garrus will always be my Shepard's best friend though.

Why no Vega? What'd he do wrong.

I mean actually wrong, and not in our jealous heads (that people love trolling).

Vega can sit in the back and hit on Liara. Or Cortez. I'm not really sure about him...

I just really do not like him at all. He is annoying calling me loco ( although I told him to call me commander), he always questions my orders, he's reckless, cocky, stubborn, and the Alliance doesn't need anymore soldiers like him, IMO. *no offense to anybody who likes him*

I actually like Vega a lot. He can be a little annoying, but he is a damn good soldier and he is a total bro to Shepard, besides Garrus. He was a big part of my squad in ME3. I usually rotated between Garrus, Vega and Javik, until I got Ashley back.

I was the same way. Before I bought Javik, James and Garrus were my squad until Ash showed up (unless I was playing as a biotic, then I used Liara for he 'splosions). James is a pretty good soldier, and he might be more useful than Garrus.
But not Ash.

I think used EDI twice, same for Liara. From a tactical standpoint, I used Liara sparingly because she is the Shadow Broker. We need her alive. She doesn't need to be on the battlefield. Well that's how my Shepard would justify it. (Okay I know I role play a little too much lol).

I like bringing people that make it more realistic and who my Shepard would pick. I never bring Vega because my Shepard hates him. I always bring Garrus because he's my bud. I bring Javik on prothean related missions. I bring Liara for her biotics, but not too much. And I bring Ashley anytime I can because my Shepard loves her an she is the best soldier. Oh and I don't really use Tali. Her and Vega are almost always on the sidelines. And is there anyone who doesn't like Vega?? Jk, I just can't stand him. I dislike him the most out of any character in the series (except starchild)...OK, I'm done hating on him, i'm sorry.

Hahah it's ok Spore. I rarely use Tali too. I used her a lot in ME1, but only for Mako exploration because of her electronics and decryption skill, but as far as main missions, she was sidelined.

Oh yea and to answer your previous question about the wedding. They get a huge wedding because they deserve it.
