You can't take Ashley to Grissom? I thought you could go on that mission anytime?
No, only the N7 missions. And if you don't go on this one, Jack will come back as a phantom later. Plus there will be some disturbing audio files on Horizon
Has anyone in here taken Ash on Grunt's mission yet? Apparently there's a way, but I haven't done it yet...
@ sporeaddict
If you and ash are soldiers, you can really take anyone as your third. I would take Garrus or Javik if you won't take Vega.
In fact, I'd take Javik

Morinth becomes a Banshee on Earth.
The first time I saw Legion I went "There he is!" And then I Nova'd him off the ledge.

If you do it right, she trusts Shepard at the coup. That's why she switches to his side even though she's "going to regret this".
And that line doesn't mean she doesn't trust shep, quite the opposite. She has every reason not to side with shep.
He's ex cerberus
Cerberus is attacking
Udina is a council member
THE ONLY reason she switches sides is because she trusts Shepard. She didn't fully understand his time with Cerberus until the end, but she trusts him at the coup if you do it right.
My shepard was nice to Ashley... In the begining he told her straight out that he didn't have to keep explaining himself to her. He told her on Mars. To trust him... He was very concerned when she got hurt. He gave her the book. He was honest and told her he didn't know where they stood. I didn't make him become a moron and make him want to get back to her, nor did Ashley says those lines about Miranda. She was upset but he wasn't mean to her. That whole scene could have been written better.
At the coup, I didn't take the paragon option, after replaying that scene for the other options. Ashley had to prove she trusted him. And remarkably she did. She didn't die.
It's interesting to note that if Shepard told her to take the job to be with hackett she responds in different ways. She'll say it's bull**** that she's being railroaded out of here. Or if you do some renagade and tell her that he will stop her. She still trusts him. She lowers her gun. She does bring up the job and takes hacketts offer. I did bring Ashley to Cronos...

Personally I always take Ashley with me. I realize the importance of the Normandy, as its the spearhead of any major assault and I need the best on my team.
Ashley is an expert soldier, I use her skills to lay down fire and cover me. Thats my Shepard's reasoning and plus she's the only one whom can pull off the Striker Assault rifle. From my Shepard's POV, James is a bit of wild card.
That being said this is Mass Effect and everyone is free to have their own "canon"
Ash with a Revenant and James with a Revenant or Falcon is pretty amazing. How I wish I could take Ash for the Grissom Academy mission. Of all missions, that is THE one where her firepower is needed most but noooooo... <_<
Part of the reason that mission is so hard is because unless you picked up Javik right away, all you have is a bunch of squishy squadmates and James. I remember I made the mistake of taking Liara on my insanity run for that mission...holy hell. She went down like 10 times, even after I "babied" her and issued her commands about cover and targets. James was a BAMF though.
But, but the Revenant is Shepard's baby...
My Shepard may love Ashley to bits....but the Revenant stays with him. No one else touches "Big Bertha" but Shepard.
Thats kinda why I went through the trouble of modding the files. Her marksman ability turns the Striker into a power house though.

@spore... Jack and Legion are both enemies on the Cronos mission if you "neglected" them. Also, there's a video console about Jack there too. I forget where, but it's there. I think it replaces the one where the Illusive Man is talking to Leng about the Coup. Again, don't quote me.. haha
And there's a severe lack of Ash on this page.

@eneyasoul If you knew her character so well then you wouldn't be saying that about her. YOU were implying that Ashley needs to be told to lead. YOU implied that she was not a grown woman and that she couldn't take care of herself. Shepard does say that. But by you comparing her to Miranda like that, you imply that Ashley is WEAK. And if by you saying "He had to move on..." that means he moved on with Miranda instead of Ashley, then obviously trust is not so important to YOUR Shepard.
*good enough* *independent* you were IMPLYING that she wasn't those things...
It's IN THE GAME... go look! Boy, do I need to upload the bloody video to prove it to you! Go play the game and find out for yourself.
Ashley needs Shepard's approval. She needs his validation... She's afraid to even meet him when he's in alliance custody. Yeah, she's sorry for what she said on Horizon.

@BP, Thanks yeah I would never neglect my squad. Especially Legion, HE was awesome. And just curious, when does she salute like that? I can't seem to remember...
After the Coup when you let her back on the ship.
But she didn't square up correctly before saluting AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! WHERE'S YOUR FORM WILLIAMS?!
At least she didn't salute with her left hand, like some other morons in the Mass Effect universe. Like the one Cerberus d-bag guarding Legion in the AI Core. I so wanted to punch him out.

Shepard helps her to see herself as who she is, and become who she can become. She's always just been a gunnery sargent before Shepard came into her life. He's simply helped her to realize her potential.
Miranda has a similar character arc in ME2, where Shep helps Miranda to see herself as a person, and not just as a tool.

I want to take her on that mission too. I saw a video of Tali screaming about spiders (the rachni) on the Grunt mission. It was actually pretty funny.

Dag nabet! I just want to take Ashley on every friggen mission. And I still haven't finished ME2. It's gonna take me forever to finish ME3 this year, especially on insanity. But it'll be good because I should take my time on it anyway

And yeah I was worrying about the beam mission. I think I might lower the difficulty if I die too many times...

SA, you're gonna beat it on insanity from a ME2 playthrough? Woof. I tried that, couldn't get past the banshees at the beam. Currently using a ME3 import so I can have level X guns...
I couldn't get pass the Banshees on normal level.

Just run in a giant circle around the area and if you have to, just hide inside one of the two buildings for a bit to let your shields recharge/medigel. I don't think it matters how many you kill, you just have to hold out until EDI or whatever is done because it's time based and the only goal is just to survive that timeframe. And once that is done, then you just haul ass to the computer on the truck. When you get there, it triggers the cut scene and all the enemies just vanish.. haha
@spore... the candy, flowers..etc. is a waste of money. Buying her the Tennyson book though earns you some bonus points with her though and it adds to her "trust level" with you.
