@kalikilic, that was some GREAT dialogue for that picture. I liked how Ashley stayed cool throughout the whole thing no matter how angry she was. And I'm glad you didn't make her shoot the guy right in his thick skull at the end. Ashley's not that renegade, to me.. She tried to tell him the ugly truth, but he wouldn't listen (indoctrinated no doubt). IMO, she is stealthier, smoother, cooler, more collective (like you described her) in ME3. I think she is more reasonable than ruthless. Some may disagree and that's ok. But to me she was, you could say, just more grown up. She went from a trigger happy Gunnery Chief wanting to kill something, to a calmer more mellow, planned out Lt. Commander. Now I'm not saying Ashley doesn't want to kill anything, or not be stubborn :), I'm saying she does all those things more maturely....if that makes sense :/. And over two years of mourning Shepard, being promoted, I can understand all her changes.
Sorry this branched out on my bland opinion of Ashley :P

EDIT: Top Ash

She's reachin' for the stars!...for some reason:P

Black Swan Ashley!!

sorry, I just thought dancer when I saw that, but it's still an unfair designation. She's not Kaidan...

And yeah, Ash isn't that renegade. I mean, she's a soldier, and she'll cap a fool when she needs to, but she cares about civilians and non-combatants. Like, on the Jacob mission, when you find out there are families, she's the one that says "that changes things..."

I love Ashley's character arc in the ME series. It's a bit more realistic. A soldier who's family is blacklisted. She catches a lucky break (Eden Prime which isn't really considered lucky I guess), gets assigned to the best ship in the galaxy, and then from there, pretty much gets promoted several times witihn in two years, and becomes the second human spectre. Her character arc wasn't as in your face like Liara's <_< but Ashley's story is way more realistic I think.

Ashley's arc is better because her character development happens ON-SCREEN. You get to watch her develope. Liara is just a different character in each game for NO REASON except that the plot demands it...

lol I imagined her having a guitar slung on her shoulder.
Heck yeah I agree with both of you. And have you guys noticed that Liaras face changed significantly in her ME2 DLC and in ME3? I think Liara changed maybe a little too much...
She is the most realistic character and so is Shepard's and her relationship, IMO.
Eden Prime was bitter sweet for Ashley :/

Can you imagine how lucky Ashley got in Eden Prime? Sometimes I sit back and think "damn she got lucky it was Shepard and the Normandy that showed up and not some other Alliance vessel."

Since her family name was blacklisted, she could have had some serious repercussions after Eden Prime if Shepard hadn't shown up.

Please. If Shep hadn't slowed her down, Saren wouldn't have gotten away.

Hahaha true. she could have hitched a ride on Sovreign, killed eveything onboard, and parachuted off before Sovreign leaves Eden prime's orbit. Oh and she was doing this before indocrination would have started to kick in. B). Meanwhile Shepard just touches ground on Eden Prime...

I don't think I want to imagine what would have happened to Ashley if Shepard hadn't shown up...
haha I can just imagine Ashley goin' all black ops on them
You know for the longest time, I always thought Ashley was an N7 XD I guess I didn't pay enough attention on my first ME1 play through...

Nah, it's a character thread. She's mad talented and good at what she's does, but she's a lowly gunnery sargent because of her family name.

Also, she doesn't cry about her headaches ;)

Yea N7's don't get stuck on groundside posts Lol.  Do you think she never got recruited for N7 because of her name being blacklisted? Because Ashley could have definitely finished N7 training with flying colors.

Oh hell yeah she could have . No but, she probably didn't get N7 because of her name, fo' sure. If she even tried to get in the N7 program, the Alliance would have taken one look at her name and automatically have said no. They even did that to her when she was just a Gunnery Chief! But then Shepard came around, and changed her life forever ^_^

Well if she would have got promotions sooner, her and Shepard would have never met. Because she certainly would not have been on Eden Prime if she was a Lieutanant. It's bitterwseet for her I'm sure.

Ummm, what if she got promoted, and then she was Shepard's LT and then her and Kaidan go with him and then Jenkins lives, and it turns out Jenkins is the chosen one and you don't need the catalyst!

Think about it!

All because Ash got blackballed... SMH...

So if the roles were reversed, lets say if it were Commander Williams and Gunnery Chief Shepard, do you think there would have been fraternization?

1.  OF COURSE.

2.  Commander Williams says "thanks, but no thanks" to the archeologist who weasels her way onto the squad.

Lol it all sounds so wrong but so right XD Jenkins should have stepped up! No maybe Kaiden...
But wouldn't the fraternization charges have been the same wether it was a woman or man?

See I don't think it would have been a relationship. I would think Commander Williams had a bit more self control.

Technically, nothing happens until after they go rogue/mutiny.  So she didn't break the rules until after the citadel battle.  You know, during the two months before the collector attack when they just didn't care anymore (and why should they!  Regs are lame yo!  Witness Shepard's mighty leather Jacket!)

So yes, there is fraternization.  Shep is a lot more forward too, since he's not the commanding officer anymore :)
