If Bioware lives up to its word when it claims ME3 will allow for "deeper relationships" with squadmates, I will be looking forward to my Shepard reconnecting with Ash, as I found her to be the second most compelling character in ME1 (just behind Wrex). I was bummed over the interaction with her in ME2, which I attribute to poorly written dialogue for Shep ("Its been a long time Ash, how have ya been " really?)

I like the character progression of Garrus, Tali & Liara as it relates to Shepard, now its time to do the same with Lieutenant Williams.

It'll be interesting to see how Romance is handled. in the previous ME games you had to go through the process of getting to know the LI then activating the romance, but now it's already in full swing. no more, as Badpie put it, "build build build build ROMANCE SCENE" when Ash or any LI gets back it's right into the romance.

Doubt it... bioware has never really done it another way have they? I only know kotor and ME on that front so... they may have. 

But I think they may be one reason they made the romance sort of break up in ME2... so that you would have to ... rebuild, rebuild, rebuild, rebuild, ROMANCE SCENE in ME3. 

Just my pessimistic view.

I'm so torn! I love Ashley but my Shepard developed a good bond with Jack and i'd feel really bad dumping her for Ashley. I'd hate to see Jack fall back into her old ways and not being able to get close to anyone.

I wonder if they'll even let you get back with your ME1 LI if you cheated on them in ME2. That kinda defeats the whole point of remaining faithful to them but i'm interested to see how they handle it.

I'm interested to see how they handle it as well.  Everyone is worried about the reprecussions of "cheating" on Ashley, but honestly I would say that if they're trying to get back with her the person they're really being a jerk to is the love interest from ME2.  This is why I'm kind of hoping that if you moved on from  your ME1 LI to someone in ME2 you can't just dump them and get back with the ME1 LI.  I feel like that ship should have sailed at that point - otherwise it's rewarding kind of jerky behavior.  

I mean if I were you and you romanced Jack - I would stick with Jack.  Otherwise that kind of makes your Shep a jerkface.    No offense.  Seriously I really don't mean that as badly as it sounds.

I wonder about that with the trio of shepard's I have caught in the Ashley/Miranda triangle. I'm thinking that it might boil down to something where , to ahve ashley back, Miranda suggest that Shepard is still in lvoe with her so they should be with Ashley instead of her or soemthing along those lines so that there's no need to have a 'pick one" scenario while a Reaper is tearing up a city.

yeah, i got a similar problem.
in several phases of drunken madness i let my main character, male shep infil modelled very close to my own appearance, romance miri in 2 not one 2 playthroughs, one with a classchange to soldier.
i have my fav femshep, also infil, who happens to be in the closet cause bioware decided to remove/not include real s/s romances in ME 1+2, waiting for ash to come around cause i didn't want the asari supstitutes for her

I want the romance to hit off from the get-go. Like Ashley should run up to Shepard and hug him again, or something along those lines. To show that the romance is still there first.

Does anybody else think that Ashley is the first squadmate you meet in ME3?

I'd love this, but it'd be hrd as hell considering she has to somehow resemble shepard. It's not as simple as Ashley showing up where she already has an appearnce, Hannah's just a voice.

Another interesting thought, have any shepard (of all backgrounds) Done a meet the parents thing with Ashley?

well, they already showed its possible to a certain degree in dragon age 2. so they could manage it, provided they add a few improvements

i don't think so, at the most a meet the legal guardians/uncles & aunts for the colonist backgound, earthborn grew up without any family and spacer was too busy to introduce her to the rents in the intermission between BOTC and SR1 destruction i'd say, since the parents are high ranking alliance officers, they'd be quite occupied aswelll

I really like Ash because even as you first meet her, she's feels like a real person. Her opinion on non-humans makes sense, because she's understandably unsure of their motives, especially the Council wanting to look out for their own interests. Her faith is also a strong point. The line about how she sees the universe and wonders what sort of handiwork made is another real item. If you speak to many people who identify as religious, you might hear a similar statement.

they only little worry i have is that if you didnt "cheat" or "move on" the romance sub plot wont be as interesting or entertaning for ppl who kept their orginal.from what i hear from some of the interviews and videos focus on the romance plot seems to be a "love triangles" shepards old LI from me1 and the one he shacked up with in me2 will be competeing for his affection or something along those lines.

my worry is that all the "romance energy" will go into makeing that,while the faithfulls will problay get one or two exclusive romance dialogues,a love scene and maybe a spot at the end of the game.

now i know the romance isnt the main part of the game,but i want it to be just as fun and awsome as seeing turian and alliance ships duke it out with reaper dreadnoughts.

well, then lets hope they have an extremely good version of events for femshep chars that stayed abstinent through 2 games( exept consort ) to get it on with ash

I'll seond that, really made want to play the game multiple times to explore every possibilty, i think i logeged almost 450h of playtime on my chars and that's only ME 1

Yuuuuus please!!  That would be pretty in character for Ash if ya ask me.

And an all Spectre mission would be awesome!  Wonder who the other Spectre's would be.
