Also I have an art request from any Ash fans who can do that sort of thing (not me because my art sucks).  Can someone please draw Ashley kissing Garrus on the cheek?  I've always wanted to see this.  Like them being silly and laughing and her just planting one on his cheek.  

Remeber when we had lunch and I recommended electric pastry? She'd gladly draw that if you asked her.

I don't care which is ranked higher, Shepard is aware Ashley has had her rank docked because of her grandfather. I don't need "officers" to stop a geth army, I need soldiers.

Ashley was more valuable.

EDIT:  "Ashley was more valuable" is subjective.  Are we really still discussing and comparing she and Kaidan's merits? I suppose whoever is more "valuable" is the one that's actually alive, you know? haha

Nah. Ash knows she doesn't actually have to knock anyone out.  She knows Shepard is guaranteed to turn down anything else that throws itself at him.    But it doesn't hurt to have the brass knuckles just for intimidation factor I suppose.  haha

No, she wasn't.
I don't know why everyone calling him whiney, didn't noticed anything like that, not that I actually care for that - I need soldier whose combat skills and capabilities works, not the one I like. He performed more than well (but that could be adressed to almost any character in game, actually, though biotic talents very useful against S&S - Sterling and Saren (he-he).
But let's dissect characters, shall we?
Ashley hasn't her rank docked. 25 y.o. and she was Gunnery chief. 27 and she is already Operations Chief (that's ME2; I don't discuss ME3 nonsense). Just for reference. Shepard is 4 years older, they both had one drill instructor, who served in same rank - Gunnery chief for at least 4 years. Was his rank docked? Or wasn't? If wasn't let's say 4 years in rank of GC is fine. Then Ashley served at this rank at least since she was 23 (if her promotion to OC occured right before ME2 events). So, 5 years, 5 ranks. Pvt 2nd class, Pvt 1st class, Corporal, Service chief, GC. That's "docked"? Sorry, doesn't look like that.
If she had her promotion to OC even earlier, then she jumped through ranks very fast. I understand all you here adore her to almost godlike creature who eats harbringer salad with pesto from leviathan for breakfast, who can jump from orbit and doesn't need some stupid power armour like that spartan John-117, but think in perspective, how other characters will look in comparison with her "docked" ranks. Especially ME3 nonsense.
As for pros/cons, I already posted that chart, twice. She is younger, less experienced (some inconsistency here - she was stationed in backwater regions, apparently without any combat encounters, yet "it comes being marine", so she witnessed some losses, so either her units were in combat or marines around her die due other reasons?), has several relatives and her MOS is ordinary grunt (as she state herself). Alenko, on the contrary, older, more experienced, much harder to requisite (as biotic), already trained. Plus, definitely, officer and sole child. Sorry, that's 0-5, whether you like it and me or not.
