...they literally have a discussioin where Shepard mentions her test scores and service records and says it's suprising she's only seen planetside duty.  It's part of her character arc that her family name holds her back, in spite of her abilities.

I mean, this is one of the key parts of her character.

KEY.  PARTS.

Serving in backwater=/=rank.

Your assignments and your rank are intertwined.  She would have advanced to where Kaidan was if she hadn't been stationed in backwater areas.  She should have been getting assignments on the Normandy.

Guess that's why she survived in Bioware's canon (ie: the launch trailer).

Your rank indicate only one thing - your capability to lead. Nothing else. To some assignments the only thing what matters is your qualification. If you can do the job, nobody gives a **** about your rank.

How come? Even if we exclude Alenko's biotic background, she didn't went to academy. Oh, now you going to tell me she wasn't allowed there because of her heritage, am I right?
But what if she was allowed? To be where Kaidan was, she (rank-wise) has to wait... about 6 more years, no? If my calculations are correct, she could be 1st Lt, tops. Not sure if suitable for marine detachment commander aboard such ship as Normandy...

Hmm. Anderson hand-picked everyone on board, apparently having pretty wide and broad access and selection. Yet he hasn't chose her, but he chose... say, Jenkins. So Jenkins is better than Williams. Your argument is invalid.

Well, you can debate if it should be this way, but by ME3, they're the same rank, so I think my point stands.  ME canon backs me.

Look at real-life officers, their careers, how long they served in each rank before being promoted to next one.

If you ready to accept plot hole over logic hole sitting on inconsistency - fine by me. But don't expect me to accept that.

I'm bound by what happens in-game.

In-game, they rise to the same rank eventually.

In-game, Ashley is more useful for fighting an army than Kaidan (IMO).  So I don't think one is more likely than the other.  Officers sacrifice themselves in real life all the time for enlisted people.  It's just however you play it out.

Those words sound so wrong for any true renegade (like my femShep).

I just really noticed how awesome Ash's gloves are. Like if she punched you with those that would hurt. No wonder she wears them all the time.

I actually hate them with burning passion xD
Why is she wearing gloves? Latex gloves seem like something Miranda or Jacob would wear. They seem cerberus-like to me.

Game has a way too much of logic holes I cannot neither ignore, nor willing to accept. It was fine for ME1, but it was a bit too much for ME2 already. Not to mention ME3.

Did they? Kaidan is about 2 ranks higher, no?

How come? They both can use Assault rifles now. Not that it was problem in ME1 - Kaidan once killed Colossus from Volkov X one on one. Posted Image

And soldiers sacrifice themselves to save their commander, because they know what good commander means (not to mention commander they love and respect) - without properly trained officer your personal valour will go to hell if you don't know how to organize combat. Apparently nobody in ME universe give a **** about that.
Well, what you expect from those canadiens - dork side, light side, barbarian with two-handed sword beats everything.

Yeah to me they look really cool, but I don't think she should have been wearing them, IMO. Like when she held Shepard's hands in their scene together, it just seemed like it would've meant a little more if their hands were touching, skin on skin

Wow sexism in the thread of a female character. play female Commander Shepard isn't wrong and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Your over extrapolating.  I didn't say anything sexist.  I simply implied that playing as broshep is better.  And you know what, broshep is better, because you can romance Ashley!

So how about you calm down and stop telling people what to do?

Instead of spoilers, the title should read NO NON-POLITICALLY CORRECT POSTS ALLOWED. Seriously, I very much doubt Dragon or any female posters were offended.

@Badpie... let it be known that many of us would rather have whatever canon you came up with rather than anything Mac Walters pulls out of his ass. You don't have anything to worry about. :P I dropped a review too, no c&c though because well.. there's nothing to criticize...
