*Sigh* We've had this disagreement before. Posted Image

I don't think it's at the trial anymore, I mean c'mon no one is stupid enough to let Shepard carry a gun into a trial. If they're watching Earth burn....Ash? I mean come on she doesn't seem to care lol. She's like, "Oh. Look. Dear me. That's....bad. Let's get on with it then." And Shepard is sitting beside her looking all serious and frowny.

I say it's a little awkward moment on the Normandy. Or maybe they're instructing the crew or something, Ash is the new XO (YES I CALLED IT!)...so of course she'll be beside Shepard. It's not Just because he smells good.

Shepard let Ashley have the comfy chair, b/c he's just that sweet.

OR

Ashley "let" Shepard have the non-comfy chair.

Probably the latter. It also explains why Shepard looks as if he's having a good old huff. Posted Image
And Ashley sitting there all content like a boss lol

Ash: "Who wears the pants in this relationship? huh huh?"
Shepard: "Yeah. We'll see who's wearing the pants in a minute."
Ash: *Pretends not to hear him and fakes interest in the boring as hell trial*

Shepard can contact Ash, it's called hitting Reply.

Ash: So you still have that e-mail?

Shepard: It was from you.

Ash: But you never replied.

Shepard: There wasn't a reply button.

Ash: (laughs) That is the worst excuse I have ever heard.

Shepard: (hands Ash a datapad) I'm not kidding.

You always think up dialog scenarios?

Don't discourage them!

They're quite funny most of the time. :)

The problem with the Mass Effect 2 timeline is, that there is really only pre- and post-Horizon. Within those timeframes everything is interchangeable. There is no such thing as a fixed pre-/post-sm and pre-/post-arrival, because the player decides the order.
This may sound stupid, but Mass Effect 2, that is Shepard's mission with Cerberus, doesn't end until you import your file into ME3. The timeline of ME2 is up to the player. Because of the structure of the game, there is no fixed time slot in-between Mass Effect 2 and Arrival or between Mass Effect 2 and 3 within Mass Effect 2 in which such a time-specific DLC could be fitted. You'd have to reorganize the whole game and make DLC only playable after the SM and in a specific order.
That's why I think it's best to write the reunion properly into ME3 instead of cramming it into ME2 as a DLC, not anymore - that chance has passed, because everybody is anticipating the trial and ME3 now. I have always looked at the trilogy as one story anyway.
And I am looking forward to another six months of sweet anticipation. At least we know now, that we are getting something and I, for one, am hopeful.
I hope, I made clear, what I mean! Yay for none-native speakers.

Elektrego you are correct on every technical detail without question.  However I believe most people play in a certain sequence, namely:
1) ME2 (w/o DLC)
2) LotSB
3) Arrival

It is with this in mind that I was thinking anywhere between #1 and #3 Shepard would have time to try and meet up with Ash.  Again technically you are correct but I was just thinking of the natural sequence.  If you take Badpie's view that the above happen largely back-to-back then there wouldn't be enough time to do so, and after Arrival Shepard is likely declared to be a galactic fugitive and would not try to meet up with Ash because it would put her in a bad position.

@rdubs
I really understand, where you are coming from and up until the release of Arrival, I would have been with you in that I wanted them to include another meeting of Shepard and Ash/Kai in a story DLC. But it didn't happen and Arrival and the official announcement of ME3 put an end to the idea for me. I know now there is this reunion on the horizon (pun absolutely intended) and all my hopes and wishes have been mentally transferred to that. Having that reunion a few months earlier in a DLC for ME2 simply doesn't feel right to me anymore. And though I wouldn't have to buy it, I would end up buying it and I would be unhappy with it at this point and a few more month of waiting don't really matter now. I am also one of the few people whose love for Ashley grew even more, because of Horizon.

Bioware tries to avoid favouring any way or order to play their games as canon and that is why your idea to place the DLC within the story of ME2 probably wouldn't work for them, no matter how many people like to play it in that order. No matter how you look at it or how you play it, there is no opportunity in the game for Shepard to make the time to go and meet Ashley.

It's the new omni-seat. You carry it on your back and it unfolds automatically, whenever you need to sit down. :wizard:

@elektrego; Brilliant, they need to make an advert for that!

And this is probably one of the weirdest disagreements ever; "Is it a chair or a gun?"

@Elek; The new omni-seat! Take it with you whenever you go to a dangerzone. Once the fighting begins, quickly pull out the seat and enjoy the show! The omni-seat, every spectators dream!

New Ash! + FShep and Liara (I wish I had another ME3 Ash pic for this one, but alas.)

I do not believe that Gone-batty has claimed copy-right on this, if so, I'll remove it myself but still: http://gone-batty.de...d-ME3-196988449

Totally want to make Shepaloo look like this by ME3's ending! :D

*tossing in my random penny worth of thought*

I ended up deciding that even if there is nothing Shepard wants more than to go reconcile/explain/apologize to Ash, the time when Shepard can put his wants before intergalactic needs is way off.
Both Shepard and Ashley are going to have to treat this with the maturity and sacrifice that comes with having to save the universe. They're both getting a lot put on their shoulders, and I think one of the many many things they like about each other is that they'd never shrug all that off.

I am however very curious as to if they'll touch on the religious ramifications of Shepard's revival with Ash's beliefs. That kind of conversation would need to be handled carefully.

That would be a very interesting conversation, I really hope they do touch upon it! It's a subject that isn't touched upon much in gaming (with reason), but it fits within Mass Effect to handle tricky/controversial subjects.

@Strawberry;Posted Image by the look on their faces, I would say it isn't going very well for Liara though...

and I corrected Ash's colour in the last pic I posted, I like it better this way:

If you're talking about Shepley not having enough time to talk while saving the galaxy, I would caution against confusing play time with in-game time. ME2 may seem like mere hours to us (because it was), but the events in the game take place over months, maybe even a year. Even with mass relays and FTL drives, it takes a long time to travel between systems and clusters... space is a really really big place.

Shep and Ash will have plenty of downtime to discuss things (and/or get bizzay :P)

How is it sticking to Shep's back if he's not wearing armor? We see this in ME2 with Thane and in the Fall of Earth trailer. It annoys me to no end.

Well that's like casual armor. I'm guessing weapons stick to the backs of their users regardless of who it is. It's a game play thing.

Yes! Dialogue scenario's are always welcome, they usually give me a good laugh =).

@Pockles; Does it really matter that much? Besides Shep is basically wearing semi armor, it just has a gun hold-y/stick-y thing on the back in my imagination.

I think Ash would approve! :D Personally, I kind of like the Sheploo look, except for the haircut.  So if I had the opportunity to change the haircut in ME3, I'd definitely go with a more ScruffShep kind of thing.
