When I talked about the "gastarbeiter" stuff, I was pointing at the eastern european girl that decides to live (and love) here. It's kinda interesting that Germans don't get forced to work for low pay anywhere in this world - except in their own country. It's even more odd that the "gastarbeiter" story is some stuff invented in Germany exclusively - almost. Heard of other countries going after that policy as well, but, in difference to German policy, pay well.
Not sure for "policy", I guess all countries have this situation somewhat unique, but from what I was able to gather, people from less successfull EE countries migrate toward more successful ones and takes jobs native populace refuse to take (very low pay, mostly because of that). Some of local populace either migrates towards "richer" areas with better salary or into foreign countries where they became gastarbeiters themselves.
Well, we are deep in schitt and according to my depth meter, we only going deeper.

In very short words: things go south in Germany pretty fast. Thanks to the 1%. Did you know that less than 500 households hold more money than the lower 50% of German population?
Where things aren't go south? And we still see how countries (well, governments) spent exorbitant sums on useless things. I'm not if this is spoor or true, but I've read that Greece wants to spent 30 mln bucks on Formula-1 related things. If I were a German, I'd probably fell from chair reading that, srsly.

ashley doesn't care if you romance her or not. She still recognizes your talent and is your friend if you aren't shacking up with her, just like any person worth any merit should act, and
that's how I identify with her.
Nice statement, but this part is a bit... ehm... "hypothetical", since as I've seen it in ME3, Ashley was portrayed very poorly. So we "suppose", based on impressions we had after ME1 that she could act like that.
Of course, all this is relevant only if nothing was lost in translation, according to today's trend with me.

Sorry of it was.

The guy who dies in ME1?
Guy? Oh, I see now - I know
Victoria Ashley secret - she's a guy!
Sorry, really couldn't resist.

Though you can't pursue a relationship with Samara. You people need to stop being in denial about that one (holding hands briefly in ME3 doesn't count!)
In some story-plot-holes thread, when somebody pointed me that things I consider holes "happened off-screen"...

Sorry, but fictional characters should not be treated as real individuals. I think you need to get out into society more if that's really your line of thought. They're created for entertainment purposes and that's where the line should be drawn.
Maybe "treated" is wrong word, but I'm too tired to pry more appropriate one from my memory, so I'll stop on one floating on top - "to sympathize". Not sure it is more appropriate, given recent "lost in translation examples", but regardless.
Plus, some characters, in more or less pseudo (or not so pseudo) historical books (so you can call them fiction, to some extent) may be a compilation of real persons, or "based on actual person", even if disclaimer state opposite. Or totally fiction book, but with certain character(s), naturally based on real person, just placed into fictional environment, for any reason, from friendly jest, request of that very person or any other.

Next thing you know we'll be seeing court cases where defendants argue that because "so and so" did so on TV, they thought it was acceptable in real life.
Doesn't work that way.
It haven't been in court, but look at those very boards when you trying to explain people that certain things are a way too unrealistic for even sci-fi.

That's just pure, uncut, bad writing.
On here I can add only this:
krukow wrote...
Dude, that happens all the time. Where do you think the "don't try this at home" warning came from?
"In our childhood we weren't that stupid."
BP93 wrote...
It's fiction based on traits from real life taken from a variety of sources and compiled into one.
To be honest I think that most characters presented in game are rather... flat and single-sided (Geralt is book-based character after all), so there are not so many "multidirectional features" usually inherent to people IRL.

Not today, but classic works held educational value.
Still does, only if presented in correct way and in right time.

Mark Twain, F. Scott Fitzgerald.. etc. were renowned for their use of fiction but also lessons on values.
O'Henry. Pretty good too, IMHO.

I know too, that's why I don't post.

Not with my short fuze temperament.
P.S. Damn it, people, you post faster than I reply! Remind me of old moderator's days.
