Well, I simply wished for more options to set up the final crew of the Normandy. For instance, I'd have loved to get back Miranda and also kinda missed Grunt. It simply didn't feel like the Normandy without a hammy Krogan, that is.

 

If you really ask me, my "headcanon" would set up a slightly different crew:

 

- Ashley as Shepard's right hand, Number One, XO, you name it.

- Grunt, since Wrex is busy repopulating the Krogan people for a while *kehehehe*

- Miranda, Chief Intelligence Officer

- EDI, as herself & ship's Avatar. She works pretty much like Rommy of the Andromeda.

- Garrus, weapon & calibration specialist, also good for small talk

- Tali, you always need that cute engineer squeezing out more power of the engines.

- Javik, since he reminds me of me.

- Mordin, the ship's scientific guy. And he sings!

 

That's already 8. If I had two more spots:

 

- Liara or Samara, for the Asari blues (especially after the Thessia mission). And someone needs to slap bad guys with warp!

- Not decided yet. Maybe Zaeed. Or James.

Seriously. The last thing I wanna see is a second permanent shut down of this forum 'cause of some stupid fight. We're beyond that point. So: no Liara-Miranda-Jacob-you-name-it-bashing. If others want to bash Ash in their threads - well, we -really- should be above that sort of stuff, right?

Samara is better than Liara. She was actually interesting. Tough pick between Zaeed and James, but if I had to, probably Zaeed, we need a war torn merc, we already the Alliance Marine (Ash)

My crew would have been:

 

- Lt. Cmdr Ashley Williams / Major Kaidan Alenko- Second highest ranking serviceman/woman on board and with experience in spec ops.

 

- Lt. James Vega - he makes sense as an experienced, elite soldier. Unfortunately the reason he was chosen to serve on the Normandy isn't very well explained in the game. One would have to watch a movie and read the comics to know more about him...

 

- Garrus - Both as a very capable soldier and liaison to the Turian high command when the Primarch is no longer aboard the vessel.

 

- Javik, as the avatar of vengeance. He isn't one of my favorites but he fits the desperation of fighting against all odds and failing to save his race. He's essentially a prothean "Shepard" and helps to answer many questions from ME 1 and ME 2.

 

- I'll let you decide on the rest, but Mordin, Legion and Tali also made a lot of sense for very specific story arcs. Whether as just passengers or as squadmates, up to your preferences. Wrex was busy, so I can understand why he was on the Normandy temporally. Great addition to the Citadel DLC quests.

 

- Liara should have been the one informing Shepard of the sidequests you had to eavesdrop around the Citadel and being a better Shadow Broker. I have fond memories of ME 1 squaddies, so I was happy she and Tali were part of the crew.

 

The problem with ex-Cerberus agents is that they'd always be a risk on board an Alliance ship, so I'd have liked them to have a more active role but not working from the ship itself. Sorry, Miranda and Jacob!

-Legion [for when you had him, he should've been a squaddie]

-Grunt [would love Wrex, but I can see why he wasn't]

Liara should stay as the Shadow Broker, and help the war effort, not be aboard the Normandy. Mordin would stay aboard the Normandy the same way he was in the actual game, no need for him to be taken on the battlefield when he's making a cure.

Hello there, dear Ash fans. 

Some of you might know me. I'm a Kaidanite, but I came with peace.  

 

The thing is, I'm currently working on two Kaidan-related ME2 mods. Those are 'friendly' Horizon letter ( a letter that goes to a non-romanced Shep. both m&fem), and Shadow Broker dossier. It's not hard for me at all to make Ashley's versions as well, but all the writing should be done by those, who actually care about the character and know her well. Which is obviously not me.

 

So, if you're interested - PM me. 

 

What I need form you: 

1. 'friendly' Horizon letter text. It will go to unromanced mShep and femShep, from what I know neither gets anything, because Night Before Ilos never happens for them.  Exact size does not matter, about same as original one. 

 

2. SB dossier files.  

- Up to 3 text files, depending on which one of official dossiers are we going to replace. Size - comparable to the original dossiers, no exact character count, couple of paragraphs.  Unfortunately, I can not add a new dossier, I'm not that cool.  

Jacob Taylor is currently my top candidate, because he's got 3 entries and among our group very little people are going to miss him and his workout stats.

- a dossier pic. Final texture size is 512*256, but I can dit and resize it myself.  See my note below!

- Brief character description (seen under the picture in dossiers menu)

 

NOTE. Currently I could not find a friendly way to mod the portrait. It's part of DLC files, which are prohibited to alter. Same replacement in main game - no problems, DLC replacement - SB authorization failure.

 

So, there are 3 options with this: 

- wrong original picture on SB terminal with all the desired text.

- hacking DLC authorization (disclaimer I do NOT advice or recommend it, but that's an option)

- Using Hackett's dosier, which has only 1 possible entry, but an Alliance logo as a portrait...sort of a neutral ground. 

 

Feel free to discuss, I can link you all the altered files as soon as I get your texts. I'll keep an eye on this thread as well.

Liara can play shadow broker elsewhere, Vega can stay on earth, I like Kasumi but it's hard finding a reason for her to be on the ship, EDI should've never gotten that body, Wrex should stay with the Krogan, Legion should stay dead, wouldn't take Samara, Jacob is boring so no.

Hey, thanks for the input. And Kaidanites are welcome here - we're in the same boat with a slighty under-developed character in ME3 and a similar fate. So - at least I don't mind Kaidan. I'd rather like to have an option to save both, Ash and Kaidan, for "Team Alliance" *g*

Williams and Alenko were my favorites in ME 1 and the most used squadmates throughout the whole game and I wish I could have saved both. Also, I wish the VS had been made part of the Arrival DLC as an Alliance black op deep in hostile batarian space.

Ash and Kaidan were my favorite ME1 squadmates, but Miranda is my favorite through out the trilogy. Ash is still one of my favorites though. I was really upset by the VS and ME2 squadmates small role in ME3. I hope it's ok that I put who I would have liked for my team in ME3 in here.

When one compares Ash to other NPC's, Ash can change her views or reach a higher understanding of intergalactic relations and mature as she is given the chance to join a mission that can demonstrate what humans are worth. Some of the most popular ME 1 squadmates don't experience much growth and their conversations mostly seem info dumps, they're mostly 'liked' because of the novelty of their 'aesthetics'. Which leads me to a second fallacy that gets repeated quite often around the BSN: all human characters in the ME trilogy are boring, alien characters are interesting. I have to disagree with this assertion as well.

That's an opinion, not a fallacy. Also, Ashley can only do that if you play a male Shepard who romances her, so that doesn't strike me as the best example.

 

As for ideal teams, my preferred crew would be...

VS

And unfortunately, I've never found any of the ME2 soldier companions to be that great, so I'd pick... maybe Miranda?

It's been too long without a post!

 

I was going to try posting a picture, but the new forum still isn't working right for me. I can't quote other posts, and it locks up when I try to use the "image" function. Maybe I should try a different web browser?

 

Since I can't post a picture... What are your favorite missions to bring Ashley along on?

 

I'm a little different than everyone else in that I actually enjoy Mars, including Ashley. But you have to bring her along on that one, so I'm not sure it counts.

 

I really like bringing her along on Noveria in ME1, even though I don't think she has any really unique content in that mission. I also make sure I bring her along for the Quarian/Geth missions in ME3. Usually it's her and Tali - Ash's disrupter ammo with Tali's geth oriented powers are very useful.

 

I also always bring her along whenever I stop on the Citadel in ME1. She has some pretty amusing comments, like at Chora's Den or some of the Citadel based side missions. I always enjoy seeing her go off on that Terra Firma rep.

I take Ashley with on every mission in ME1, her dialogue is great on missions.

 

As for ME3, I take her with me on nearly every mission once I've recruited her, with the exception of Thessia (got to bring Javik on that one).

 

I like taking her on the Tuchanka Bomb mission as well

I have a real hard time taking anything Ashley says seriously after what she did on Horizon. She just pissed me off and continued to do the same in ME3.

I take Ashley on everyone in ME1 and in ME3 when I get her back(by doing the fewest missions possible) every mission.

I take her on as many missions as possible, but I try to do things in an order that makes sense. I figure Shepard isn't going to delay the bomb mission, so it's James and Garrus on that one when I play it. It already irritates me that I have to divert from Tuchanka in the middle of a campaign to do Benning and then go to the Citadel if I want to take those dog tags to Osoba (that side quest should not have expired after the coup, considering when Benning opens up).

 

I do bring Ash on the Rachni mission in ME3, and she has some pretty cool comments. Liara says relatively little on that mission, which is a change. I figure the Rachni thing is just scouting. It's important, but not as much of a top priority as saving people who are stranded.

 

I have yet to take Ash to the ardat-yakshi monastery, since, for some reason, I got in the habit of bringing Garrus and Liara. I'm thinking about changing how I handle that, since I hear Ash has some good things to say on that one.

Take her to the monastery instead of Liara. Also, I have yet to take her on the Rachni mission, should I try it?
