Next question? :)

We of course know that you joined the Alliance after school. Did you have any jobs growing up, though? What was your first job?

Ashley: There's always something people aren't proud of. I had one job in my high school time - and when I finished school, I joined the Alliance military pretty much the same day. But the job I had - the one and only civilian job ever - was working for "Burkley's" You know, the "Burkley's Fries and Burgers" restaurant. Surprised? I'm surprised too, I hate fastfood. I just wanted to earn some money and that was the only opportunity that time. The only good thing about it - it was close to the starport, so I could watch orbital traffic. Now that I think about it, my boss fired me because I was "too much of a stargazer" for his liking. *snickers* No, really - it was a lousy job, bad pay, bad smell, bad food. But at least I got some money and that time I wanted to get a motorbike. In the end, I didn't get the motorbike, because I didn't go to college and also didn't waste any time before joining the Alliance military. *sigh* Still would love to have that bike 'though. Maybe one day. But don't force me to go into a Burkley's. I won't ever touch that stuff. *laughs*

Next question: What's the worst mistake that you ever made when you were growing up? What lessons did you take from it?

Whoa?! The Ash thread has been ressurected? This is great! I was a little bummed when I came online and couldn't find any Ashley love anywhere (I guess I didn't look hard enough). Thought it had finally come to an end, glad to see that I was mistaken. Anyway, hello Ash thread! Anybody think we will ever see Ash in future ME stuff ever again?

I'm really pessimistic about our chances. I'm not so sure the current Bioware writers care for her that much, and I think they'll probably try to avoid most of the original trilogy characters anyway.

This is just an observation, but in the destroy ending they show closure, or at least closure in my opinion, for ME2 characters and no closure for ME1 characters. Again it just an observation. I believe if Shepard and the characters return, it would be the game after the one Montreal is currently working on with a possible release date of maybe 2018. Of course this is all my own opinion.

@DWH: Yeah, I know what you mean. I felt as if Bioware stopped careing about Ash during ME2. I think that she had just enough popularity to push her into ME3 squadmate status but the guys in charge where like - "Ashley you say? Meh. Give her the bare minimum and cut the rest."

@themikefest: I agree, if Shepard and Ashely return it's going to be after this new game. I do think we will see the old crew again someday. But I think it will be way down the line. Barring an outright flop (which is pretty unlikely) I'm sure Bioware would like to milk this new story, new hero, and new cast of characters for atleast a couple more installments. Once they're done with this new saga, the idea of revisiting the orginal hero and his gang might start to sound more appealing to them.

Here's a good question... Would it be a mixed blessing to have Ashley back in another installment?

I think there was quite a bit of good stuff there in ME3, but she often seemed like a shell of her former self. Much of the depth was missing. I'm afraid it might just get worse if she returns for future installments.

That would depend on how much time Bioware is given to develope the game and who the writer will be for her.

^^^ This, pretty much. Tbh though...every returning ME1 squadmate felt like a shell of their former self. Even Garrus and Liara. Ash did get it the worse though - the content that was cut looked really good! I still don't know why that stuff is not in the game. At this point I'd welecome more Ash in a future ME game. However, if they were to botch her character even more...I would just give up. But they would have to completely f%@* up to get me to that point. I mean, like makeing Ash a member of a resurgent Cerberus group or something equally as stupid as that.

Personally I really didn't see anything wrong with Garrus or Liara. Even Wrex seemed fine, even though he wasn't on the squad.

Ash just didn't seem completely like herself. Mars was really good, and individually most of the scenes on the Citadel are pretty good. The problem is that they just focus on one or two character elements, and never go into much more depth than that.

The Normandy is where everything falls apart - she rarely has much, if anything, to say. She never leaves that one room, even though the rest of the crew gets to interact with each other. And one of her major conversations has her getting drunk and hung over in the middle of the geth/quarian situation. I just can't see ME1 Ash doing that. Would have been nice to talk to her about the time between ME1 and the start of ME3. We still have no idea what she did during that time.

In some ways, aside from Mars and the romance, Ash feels more like a DLC character than Javik, who, despite being a real DLC, comes across as better integrated into the Normandy. I will say that I think she made out better than most of the ME2 squadmates, especially Jacob and Thane.

That's why I save the bomb misson for after rannoch. It's the only time she will talk with a fellow squad member on the Normandy. The citadel DLC helps in that department though. Ash interacts with Jack, Wrex, James, Liara, Joker, Cortez and Traynor during the party. Also, if you take her and Garrus on the bomb misson they actual have a brief exchange about the situation. Ash will also talk with Liara if you loiter in the mess hall during the Mars mission. Plus during the fuel refinery Ash and Liara get snippy with one another. Most of her squadmate interaction occurs during certain missions.

True. Ashley interacts with squad members on missions than during Normandy. Though there is bugged out dialogue that indicates that she interacts with Liara, post Cerberus Coup.

I really can't bring myself to do the bomb mission after the coup. It messes up the natural flow of the story too much.

Also, while I felt like the Citadel DLC had some good Ash content during the missions, I didn't feel like there was much there for her beyond that. Though I haven't done all of the possible party combinations, so I have probably missed some dialogue.

I ususally do Palaven, Sur'Kesh, Grissom, Turian Platoon or Rachni, cure/sabotage genophage, coup, Ashley to do rest of the missions in the game to maximize the time you can have with her.

One thing that does bother me is that if you have Kirrahe alive you can talk with him on Sur'kesh. Ashley, Tali and Kaidan are guaranteed to meet him on Virmire whereas the others aren't. I did a playthrough where Liara and Garrus never met Kirrahe and on Sur'Kesh they talk like they know each other.

If he survives, then Kirrahe spends time on the Normandy,  In the same room as Garrus even, so they should know each other.

Not if you don't recruit Garrus in ME1

You should try it sometime. If you haven't already of course. ME3s plot is average at best anyway...it's riddled with plot holes and blatant rectons just to force conflict and drama. I'd take Ash talking with Tali over Wrex and Victus growling at each other.

I've learned to ignore it, but Garrus does the same thing while reminiscing about the ME1 missions. I have no idea if he still does it if you never recruit him in ME1, but I know in my playthroughs he does talk about Noveria like he was there, despite the fact that I always bring Ash and Liara along on that mission.

I don't think Bioware has any way to track which squadmates went along on which missions, and I guess they didn't want to let player choice get in the way of a cool conversation. Like I said, I just learned to ignore it or "head canon" around it.

On an unrelated topic:

- I give up on trying to change the squad preview image for the mod. Tommorow am uploading the mod files (along with backups)

- Here's the final version of the mods. They include two new armour sets for Ash (Who thought that the 'suit' would work on a battlefield), a variation of geotroex's officer's uniform set and a N7 typhoon without the jarring faceplate (it actually looks a sexy, deadly weapon)

Hello all,

I recently returned to the ME3 modding scene and updated my SVN. I copy and pasted some of my modified PCCs into the CookedPCCConsole (that were modded and confirmed working with older SVNs circa Feb 2014).

However whenever I try to use to access levels in which modded PCCS come into use, the game just hangs.

Solutions I've tried:
- Updating TOC bin (using the included TOC bun utility)

Has me3explorer's architecture changed signifigantly that the direct transplant method no longer works?

I prefer the direct transplant method as it's relatively version agnostic, given the MODs vary from version to version.

Help would be appreciated. I remember the files working with the old SVN. I really, really don't want to redo the PCCS all over again?

Just to test whether or not something had borked my PCCs, I redownloaded Getorex's modified PCCs (The link is still active on the old forum site). No such luck.

However, if I modded the PCCS individually, it works....

I would be grateful if someone could test whether these modified PCCs work on their machines
Just Copy and paste into the CookedPCConsole folder and then update the TOC bin using me3explorer.
https://mega.co.nz/#...MpaHjCGh_4y4kX0

This mod replaces the blue 'suit' with Alliance officer uniform and combat bun. It also replace the officer's suit in battle situations, with the blue Ajax.

Please let me know if it works or not. The results would help me narrow down the problem

Ashley: Shepard, you're asking me, "What's happened to me?"....I should be asking you that question.

Shepard: Me? Nothing's happened to me....I've been fine for a long time Ash, doing what I have to do...without you.

Ashley: Oh is that what this is about? Is this some grudge you've been holding ever since you found me on Eden Prime? Ever since you asked me to join you and Cerberus when I didn't even know you had come back from the dead? My god...

Shepard: What? No! This has nothing to do with that...

Ashley: Okay...You're lying.

Shepard: Ash...I -

Ashley: Do I look like a fool? How could you have expected me to just accept everything at face value back then on Eden Prime? Especially with that Cerberus dog whoring around in her catsuit right at your side....[sigh]...you can't have expected me to join you.

Shepard: This is not about that Ashley!

Ashley: Then what is this about? Anderson's employed me alongside you to help you and ensure the survival of our world. Yet here you are acting like a child. telling me bullshit like, "You better sit this one out Ash," or " I'll need you for the next mission Ash, I'll take Vega with me."

Shepard: You're out of line soldier!

Ashley: Oh...out of all the times, you now decide to pull rank on me! [sigh]

Shepard: Ashley!...look, I don't know what exactly you're accusing me of, but I'm the commander of this vessel and I'm leading this mission to save our people, our planet and to stop the reapers. You think I like making tough decisions?

Ashley:...so that's it huh? That's all I am to you? A tough decision?

Shepard: God damn it Williams!...I understand that this war's a hard thing to grasp; the destruction is unimaginable. The horrifying indifference the reapers are showing to our people is just chilling to our bones; mass slaughter is going on everywhere in the world. Yet here you are squabbling aloft in space about how you've had to sit missions out thinking that I'm some prejudice jerk. Now I've made my decision and we're scheduled to land at 0-400 hours. I need my rest.

Ashley:...Oh I see...[turns her back]...okay shepard...I believe its an interesting question though, if you ever have time to answer it.

Shepard: What question?

Ashley: What happened to you?

end[/.] thanks for reading.

post-thoughts: I don't know how I've managed to write this when, for those of you who are familiar with me, you'd know that I'd stopped writing any mass effect material a long time ago. I guess I was partially influenced by this fight I had with my friend yesterday and I felt the need for a slight carthasis...or at least just somewhere to place these homeless feelings I have.

maybe some day i'll turn this into a full-fledged piece. I found that writing with the photo as a premise helped to guide my thoughts even with stage directions although I left those out for this.
